Shree Krishna, Alok Nembang, Lost in 2071 BS

It is time to say goodbye to 2071BS and welcome the new year 2072 BS in Nepal. On the new year, we are reviewing the year. In this post we are reviewing the Nepali movie personalities we lost in the year. Three great loss of Nepali film industry this year are:

  • Shree Krishna Shrestha (death on August 9, 2014)
  • Alok Nembang (death on November 9, 2014)
  • Pradeep Rimal (death on February 6, 2015)

Shree Krishna Shrestha

The death of actor Shree Krishna Shrestha was a very unexpected and hurtful death in the Nepali film industry. Shree Krishna died within a month of his marriage to actress Sweta Khadka. He died a day after the release of his home production movie ‘Kohinoor’. Shree Krishna had an image of lover-boy and a good dancer in the movies. He was liked by viewers and colleagues. Both of his home production movies ‘Kaha Bhetiyela’ (watch ‘Kaha Bhetiyela’ here) and ‘Kohinoor’ were super hit movies.

Alok Nembang

The news of suicide of the popular director Alok Nembang also came as a shocking news. The most popular music video director and the director of some hit movies including ‘Sano Sansar’ (watch ‘Sano Sansar’ here)  and ‘Kohi Mero’ (watch ‘Kohi Mero’ here).

Pradeep Rimal

Another great loss of 2071 BS is Pradeep Rimal. Compared to Alok and Shree, the director of the first Newari movie ‘Silu’, Pradeep Rimal, was 78 years old.

In addition to the 2046BS movie ‘Silu’ (watch ‘Silu’ here), Pradeep is also known for his hit movie ‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera’.

Another shocking loss was that of the wife of popular cinematographer Purushottam Pradhan. Anu Shrestha, the mother of a 24 days old child died in March of 2015.
