Trying to be the Donald Trump of Nepal, Binod Chaudhary

Binod Chaudhary is the only dollar-billionaire of Nepal who has been listed as one of the richest person in the world by Forbes magazine since 2013. The businessman is currently running for a political post through Nepal Congress party. There have been mixed reaction on Chaudhary’s political desire. Some say that he might be the Nepal’s version of US president Donald Trump. Others differ in their opinion.

Let ma analyze the difference and the similarities of the US President and Chaudhary:

Political Enemies : Trump is known for his attack towards his opponents. He is known to wage war against the main-stream US media like CNN and New York Times. Binod Chaudhary is exactly the opposite. He is soft spoken towards his opponents. He is a diplomatic businessman who doesn’t make any enemies at all.

Family Background – While Trump is the third generation of the Trump organization business family, Chaudhary is the second-generation in Chaudhary Group. It seems, Trump is more caple of taking risk (read that “huge risks”) whereas, Binod Chaudhary isn’t willing to take such risks.

Some actors don’t know about their party memberships

The news of more than 150 artists joining Nepali Congress came by surprise to many. It was particularly surprising to those who heard their own name in the news. For example, actress Mala Subba was surprised on her name included in the list of artists joining the party.

It turned out – the artists were invited for a tea party at the residence of the party president. All those who attended the party were told to have joined the party. Actor Aayush Rijal told that he was in the residence of Sushil Koirala only for the tea party. He clarified, he has no intention of joining any political parties. Aayush told that he was invited by director Suresh Darpan Pokharel for the tea party. It was Pokharel who told about the 150 artists joining Nepali Congress.

Actor and director Ramesh Budhathoki also claimed not to have joined Nepali Congress. He admitted to be supporting the party but, he isn’t a formal member of the party. Actor Jiwan Luitel has the similar statement. Sctress Jharana Thapa is currently in Europe tour, she is also told to have joined the party.

Nepal Bandha – Organizing leader became a victim

(UPDATE: The Bandha is called back effective 4 PM after Nepali Congress reached in deal with the government)

Forceful closing of streets and business is a serious violation of human rights. Nepal is currently being forced such a day-long bandha, called by Nepali Congress. One of it’s top leaders Ramchandra Poudel’s mother died and he was stopped to drive by the bandh called by himself. If he were a true leader he should have obeyed the bandha and waited till tomorrow to go to his home. But, he choose to ask the police force to escort him to his home in Chitwan to perform the last rites of his mother.

Nepali Congress is the opposition party of the current government, but it has acted like a little kid by going the street to protest the death of one of it’s members.

Look mama, the Anonymous' next easy target

A group named #OpEverest, claiming to be a part of an international hacker network Anonymous, had recently attacked official website of Nepal Government, nepalgov.gov.np. One of the next targets of the group is the site of Nepali Congress – nepalicongress.org.

Usually DDos attacks last for hours (not days or months or years!). I wonder what the effect will be to the website that has been flagged by Google for about 6 months (may be longer) and the owner doesn’t even notice? Here is a screenshot posted in xNepali forum on December of 2010 (The site should have been like that for much longer).

For comparison, I have taken the screenshot now, the site hasn’t changed and the owner Nepali Congress doesn’t care either.

My suggestion to Anonymous or #OpEverest: these sites don’t compare with Amazon or Visa or MasterCard sites. You should better save your energy to be used for something worthwhile. p>

Sole PM candidate didn't win – Weird Nepal!

Even after one of the two contestants for the post of Prime Minister, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has finally pulled himself out from the prime ministerial race another candidate, Ram Chandra Paudel of Nepali Congress (NC), refused to give up.

What is more strange is that the sole candidate, Poudel, failed to secure majority yet again in the eighth round of voting on Sunday.

Only 189 lawmakers out of 598 active members in the 601-seat parliament, casted their votes in the election. Poudel
, the sole candidate, secured a mere 116 votes and was declared defeated.

NC president Sushil Koirala admitted to the hospital

Sushil Koirala was admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) for treatment of infection in his lungs, within a few hours of his victory in the party election.

The doctors have told that the illness of the newly elected president of Nepali Congress is related to the excessive effort during the preparation of the election. According to the doctors, he will stay in the hospital before for five day.

Due to the illness, Koirala could not attend the vict
ory rally organized in Kathmandu. Earlier, the 12th general convention of Nepali Congress had elected Sushil Koirala as the next party president.
