Aryan Sigdel and Pooja Sharma in ‘Honeymoon’ in Lumbini
Actor Aryan Sigdel and actress Pooja Sharma are currently shooting in Lumbini. The shooting of a song for the movie named ‘Madhumas’ (Honeymoon in English) is undergoing in the area. After Lumbini the shooting team will head towards Palpa and Gulmi for the shooting.
According to one of the producers, Baburam Dahal, the shooting schedule is expected to last a week before it returns to Kathmandu. The promotional song of the movie is being shot in the best location that can be found in the Western Nepal.
Censor board responds to media pressure, Dhuwani awarded PG certificate
After the pressure from the media, the Censor Board was forced to change it’s decision on censor certificate to the movie ‘Dhuwani’. The censor board had objected to a dialogue in the movie citing the dialogue to create problem with the neighboring countries. Now, the Board has allowed the movie to be screened in theaters with PG certificate. The certificate allows children to watch the movie with adults.
After this incident, it is proved that the Board doesn’t have a clear guideline on censoring movies and they act on personal preferences and intuition. This is not the first time such incident had happened. The movie banned by the Board, ‘ATM‘ was released on July 26 without change after the court found it suitable for the public. With these problems, the Board doesn’t hold any credibility to censor movies.

Rekha Thapa in photo journalist’s calendar – doesn’t make sense
The professional photographers have chosen a non-professional – actress Rekha Thapa to feature in their yearly calendar. Being an actress, she had done her best to act like a photographer, but she has failed in a few shots and the professional photographers didn’t care to correct the poses. I haven’t got hold of the calendar myself but, from the photos shared by my Facebook friends I can see some of the problems of the calendar.
I have a few questions to the publishers of the calendar:
- Why a new calendar after 1/4th of the year is finished?
- Why is Rekha Thapa featured in every page of calendar?
First, the calendar is made for the year 2070 BS. We are currently running on the fourth month of the year – almost through a quarter of the year. Nobody needs a calendar of this year at this time of the year. Whoever needs one might already have it in their walls. Unveiling a stale calendar defeats the sole purpose of the calendar.
I have seen calendars that feature a product in every page are either sponsored or produced by the product owners. In this calendar it would have made sense if Rekha Thapa were either the sponsor of the calendar or the owner of the calendar. As she is none, it doesn’t make sense to feature her in every page of the calendar. They could have used 12 different actresses or 12 different photographer journalists or just the best press photos in the calendar.
Nepathya’s Wembley Arena Performance – a historical event
In a historical event, one of the most popular bands in Nepal, Nepathya, performed in UK’s Wembley Arena on August 3, 2013. Nepathya’s Wembley Arena performance was considered the largest ever Nepali musical performance so far.

Rekha Thapa and Chhabi together to release ‘Kali’
After the divorce Rekha Thapa and her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha had produced ‘Kali‘ and ‘Loafer’ respectively and announced the same release date to compete with each other. But, when the release date nears, the relationship between the two has warmed up and now, Chhabi has appeared in ‘Kali’ poster as an executive producer.
Now Chhabi has acquired the release rights of ‘Kali’ and he will distribute the movie in the theaters. Earlier, ‘Kali’ was supposed to be distributed by other party but, Chhabi will return the advance received from the earlier party to distribute the film himself. He told, he and Rekha have realized that they are not competitors but business partners.
Dhuwani in Censor problem
The censor board has been criticized for harassing film makers by objecting on non-critical stuffs. One example of the failure of Censor Board is the latest re-release of ‘ATM‘ on the order of court after facing ban from Censor Board for more than half a year.
Now, another movie ‘Dhuwani’ has been stopped by the Censor Board objecting on a simple dialogue. The movie made on girls trafficking in Nepal is objected on a dialogue stating higher demand of Nepali girls in China. The filmmakers say that the statement is based on the report of Maiti Nepal, a NGO working on trafficking.

Karishma Manandhar and Robin Tamang to do One Way
Actress Karishma Manandhar is going to be featured opposite to rock singer and actor Robin Tamang in and upcoming movie named ‘One Way’. Robin debuted as an actor in ‘Chadke’.
The Movie being produced by RC Pictures will be made a female-centric social drama. Although the lead actors of the movie will be Siddhartha Gurung and Mala Limbu, Karishma’s role will be stronger and effective.
Namrata Shrestha and Aryan Sigdel to do ‘November Rain’
The on-screen romance of Aryan Sigdel and Namrata Shrestha in ‘Mero Euta Sathi Chha’ was liked by Nepali movie viewers and they are coming together in an upcoming movie, ‘November Rain’. The movie to be co-produced by Aryan Sigdel and will be made under Subash Entertainment banner.
The romantic movie named ‘November Rain’ will be directed by Dinesh Rawat. Dinesh is known for directing the movie ‘I am Sorry’.
Mahasush artists teaching traffic rules in street
At the time of the release of the movie, ‘Mahasush’ producers have started a promotion campaign to create traffic rule awareness by the actors of the movie. The event organized in association with Yatayat Majdoor Sangh was held in Gongabu Bus Park. The actors of the movie distributed pamphlets and distributed stickers to be posted on vehicles.
The stickers and pamphlets focus on creating awareness on the danger of driving vehicles in high speed. Actor Aryan Sigdel, actress Keki Adhikari, actress Benisha Hamal, producer Kalyan Ghimire and director Nawal Khadka were present in the event.
The movie is scheduled to release on August 16.
Sipora Gurung to feature opposite to Rajesh Payal Rai in Darshan Namaste
In the movie to be made on the life of singer Rajesh Payal Rai, the sportsperson and actress Sipora Gurung is going to be featured as the lead actress opposite to Rajesh. The movie named ‘Darshan Namaste’ will be the second movie of Sipora after her debut movie – ‘Ghalek’, a Gurung film.
The script of the movie written by Shivam Adhikari will be directed by Dinesh DC. The movie based on the struggle of Rajesh Payal Rai is produced by Rimesh Adhikari and will go on floor in January of 2014.
First Look of ‘Megha’ released
The first look of the debut movie of director Samjhana Upreti Rauniar featuring Namrata Shrestha in lead role is released in internet. The 19 second long video promo of the movie only shows Namrata in a mirror as the central character.
The movie is produced by a well known photographer, Bikas Rauniar – the husband of the director. The movie features Namrata with Raymondas Shrestha, Bhintuna Joshi and Siddhartha Koirala in main roles. The movie features the cinematography of Ramsharan Upreti and music of Gopal Yonjan.
