Earthquake: Rajesh Hamal cancels his program in Paris, returning back soon

On the wake of Nepal earthquake, actor has canceled his programs in Paris, France and is planning to return back to Nepal soon. In a report, Rajesh Hamal had reached Europe after the cultural program in Qatar.

Rajesh had met the Nepali officials in the Nepal Embassy of France on the condition of Nepal before making the decision to return back. Rajesh Hamal also shared the cover of a French newspaper about the French PM’s decision to help Nepal.

Director Himgyap Lama celebrates his ‘re-birth’ day by visiting earthquake affected areas

Every year on April 27 the ‘Bhimdutta’ director Himgyap Lama used to celebrate his birthday. This year, the situation was a lot different. While everybody were in shock and mourning the April 25 earthquake, the terror hasn’t ceased yet as aftershock tremor continues till the time of this writing.

Himgyap termed his birthday a ‘Re-birth Day’ as he had survived the earthquake that had claimed more than 4,000 people, so far. In his Facebook profile, Himgyap writes:

Today is my birthday, 27 April, Re-Birth Day of mine after unexpected earthquake in Nepal, I was blessed by you all and thank you all wishers and prayers of my life.

8 Bollywood film crew member killed in Nepal Earthquake, says Mugdha Godse

The actress of ‘Fashion’, Mugdha Godse’ has told that eight of the crew members of her upcoming movie have been killed by the earthquake in Nepal. In a Twitter post, Mugdha told that she was shocked and depressed by the news.

Telugu actor K Vijay dies in Nepal Earthquake

25 years-old Telugu actor K Vijaya has died in the earthquake in Kathmandu. The actor was in Kathmandu with his shooting team for the shooting of Telugu movie "Etakaram.com". The actor had died while returning in a car from the shooting location. The car he was travelling had overturned after the earthquake.

In addition to being a character actor, Vijay was also a choreographer. While Vijay died, three others had reportedly injured.

Rekha Thapa and Himgyap Lama sleep in car on fear of earthquake aftershocks

The terror of the earthquake kept most of the people in Kathmandu awake the whole night of April 25. On April 26 the terror continued and the going inside was filled with risk. So people were forced to sleep outside. Actress Rekha Thapa and director Himgyap Lama were staying together in the crisis.

Karishma Manandhar is earthquake ready – a temporary residence like a film set

Film maker and actress Karishma Manandhar and her husband, producer Binod Manandhar have constructed a film-set like temporary residence to live during the earthquake crisis. The temporary residence looks like a film studio set with bed rooms and kitchen.

The temporary residence is covered in corrugated sheets and has bamboo walls with proper door, windows and proper ventilation.

Resham Filili show halted

The comedy movie ‘Resham Filili’ makers have decided that it is not the time for laughter when the whole country is mourning the victims of the massive earthquake of April 26. Talking to an online magazine, the producer, Madhav Wagle, has said that the decision was made because entertainment is not a priority at the time of emergency.

The resumption of the show is not known. Wagle  said that the movie show will be halted for an uncertain time in the future.

Shankar BC shooting unit escaped an Earthquake caused landslide in Chapali Height

In the worst ever earthquake in Nepal, more than 1,500 people have been reported dead so far. There is a high chance that the number increase significantly. There had been more than 20 aftershocks and more are a possibility. Shankar BC and the team were shooting a music video in Chapali Height area when the earthquake happened. The dancer and choreographer BC has shared the following photos of the landslide caused by the earthquake.

The landslide didn’t cause any damages to the shooting crews.

7.8 magnitude earthquake in Kathmandu (video)

There are conflicting reports of the magnitude of earthquake but, it is a very strong one. Most of the structures in Kathmandu have sustained damage by the earthquake. (UPDATE – The earthquake magnitude is 7.8 in Richter scale with huge amount of causality.)

People are warned to stay outdoors and remain calm as there might be more aftershocks. In a report, a 6.6-magnitude aftershock hit was hit after about an hour after the earthquake.

Earthquake Safety Day – 16 January

The 14th National Earthquake Safety Day is being marked by organizing various events starting January 16, 2012.

Young mountains and geotectonic has made Nepal susceptible to severe earthquakes. Historical data show that devastating earthquake have a 100 year return period, and the next such earthquake is expected to occur in the near future. A earthquake in September 2011 wasn’t that severe, and we can’t be lucky every time. Hence, earthquake awareness is very important in Nepal.

Some of the highlights of the January 16, 2012 event are:

  • ESD Memorial Meeting on January 16 at 10:00AM,at Bhugol Park, Newroad
  • Earthquake Safety Rally: to be held on January 16, starting from Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City at 11:30AM and assemble at Jawalakhel at 1:00PM walking all the way across inner city areas of Patan
  • Earthquake Safety Day National Meeting, to be held on January 16 at 1:30PM, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur  (The Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to address the ceremony).
  • Earthquake Safety Exhibition: January 16-19, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to inaugurate the Exhibition.

Earthquake History of Nepal (Historical photos)

The earthquake of June 7, 1255 AD (1310 BS) is the first recorded earthquake in the history of Nepal. During the earthquake nearly one third of the total population of Kathmandu were killed. Among the killed were the King of Kathmandu valley, Abahya Malla. The earthquake magnitude at that time is believed to be around 7.7 in Richter scale.

Another big earthquake was recorded in 1260 AD (1316BS) during the reign of King Jayadev Malla. During the earthquake many buildings and temples collapsed. there was a huge loss of lives and an epid

Earthquake in Nepal that killed 5 people – Is the epicenter in Sikkim?

Condolence to the 5 people killed in today’s earthquake and wish for speedy recovery of the 27 injured persons.

The epicenter of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake is told to be in Sikkim, India. But in the map it is shown within the border of Nepal.

Rajesh Hamal safe in Japan witnessing biggest crisis after WW2

Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal is currently in Japan and he has witnessed the devastation due to earthquake and tsunami. Rajesh is currently living in a city located about 300 km from the earthquake epicenter. The place is told to be safe for more earthquake damages.

Hamal was reported to be living in tents in the open area to be safe from any damages caused by earthquake. This is a good news for the fans of Rajesh Hamal and we hope he will return back as soon as possible.

According to the Japanese prime minister, this event is the biggest crisis in Japan after the World War 2. About 10,000 people are feared to have died in the earthquake. About a dozen Nepali living in Japan are reported to be missing.
