A new Nepali movie ‘Samarpan’, released on December 30, 2016, was shot in various locations in Nepal and Bangladesh. The movie presented by Rojan Rakhal is made under Fire Enterprises and Media banner and is made on a story of the relationship between friends. The writer of the movie is Tikaram Rakhal and is produced by Imran Sidhiqui

After a long time, Tulsi Ghimire’s another movie has released in theatre in Nepal, titled ‘Darpan Chhaya 2’. One of the most successful directors of the Nepali film industry, Tulsi Ghimire’s last few movies weren’t as successful as his reputation. The movie named after his previous superhit movie ‘Darpan Chhaya’ – the new movie will determine in Tulsi is still relevant in the new-age Nepali movie industry.
The movie introduces three new actors in the leading role – Puspal Khadka, Sahara Karki and Shraddha Prasai. I had previously written a detailed post about the three new entries in the movie- Read Who are the new entries in ‘Darpan Chhaya 2’.
The movie ‘Darpan Chhaya 2’ is written by Tulsi Ghimire. The music of the songs in the movie are composed by Ranjit Gajamer and Chandan Lomjel. With Puspal Khadka, Sahara Karki and Shraddha Prasai the movie also features actors like BS Rana and Saroj Khanal. The movie is made in a triangular love story between two girls and a guy. It is a teenager love story. The cinematographer of the movie is Rameshowr Karki, editing by Prakash Baraili and Bharati Ghimire. The movie is produced jointly by Sabu Gadal and Rabi Karki.

After two Miss Nepal got married last year (in 2016), only seven out of 21 Miss Nepal are still unmarried. Miss Nepal 2009, Zenisha Moktan and Miss Nepal 1997, Jharana Bajracharya got married in 2016. Another Miss Nepal, Miss Nepal 1995, Sumi Khadka also married in 2015. The only two remaining Miss Nepals from the 1990s got married in the last two years. The year 2016 had been special as:

The movie made on the life story of popular literary figure, Jhamak Ghimire, has been premiered in a program held in Kathmandu on March 6, 2017. The movie was premiered by Jonta Club Kathmandu – on the International Women’s Day.
The movie produced and directed by Binod Bista is an unique movie of a literately figure who is disabled and writes by her foot. Jhamak Ghimire, born in 1980 in Dhankuta wrote ‘Jiwan Kanda Ki Phool’ by her left foot. The book had won the prestigious Madan Puraskar.
Disabled by birth, Jhamak Kumari Ghimire, is awarded the Madan Puraskar 2067 BS (2011) for her book Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool (Is Life a Thorn or a Flower?). She was the second only female writer to receive the award after another woman writer Parijat received the award in 1965.
Born in July of 1980 in Kachide village development of Dhankuta district with cerebral palsy and has to write with her left foot. Ghimire had started writing with her left foot since she was 15 years-old.

Three new actors are debuting in the sequel of the hit movie ‘Darpan Chhaya’ named ‘Darpan Chhaya 2’. The movie doesn’t have the original star cast and the director Tulsi Ghimire also says that the two movies aren’t linked with each other. The movie ‘Darpan Chhaya 2’ is going to release on Falgun 16, 2073 BS (March 10, 2017).

The movie is introducing three new actors in the Nepali film industry:
The model Adhiti Budhathoki is going to debut in an upcoming Nepali movie ‘Kri’ opposite to Anmol KC. The model struggling in Mumbai had agreed to be featured in ‘Kri’ because of the popularity of Anmol KC and the success of all of his previous movies.
As Aditi lives in India, not much of her activities are released in Nepali media. Although she hasn’t been successful in being featured in big screen movies in India, she has done some music videos there. Aditi is featured in a Punjabi music video of a singer named Sandeep. (The music video is attached at the end of this post)
Aditi’s co-actor in ‘Kri’, Anmol KC,is keeping low profile while in preparation for the movie. Anmol has been away from media eyes for almost a year (with occasional surprise appearances). Aditi in the other hand is living in India and is quite active in social media. She occasionaly share hot photo of herself in Instagram. The scantly clad photos, attract a lot of comments and interaction. I have collected some of the photos to share with the xnepali viewers.
Originally from Damak, Jhapa, Aditi’s home in Kathmandu is at Sinamangal. She mostly lives in Mumbai and works as a fashion model. A Bachelors degree holder in Information Technology, Atiti’s mother, Puspa Budhathoki, is also a fashion designer.

I wrote an article last year – 7 NRN Actresses in Nepali movies, Shristi Shrestha to Meruna Magar. Now, when I go back and read the article, I realize that I had failed to define what NRN actually mean. That is a very crucial factor to determine who is NRN and who is not.
The term Non Resident Nepali (NRN) is very loosely used in practice. Nepali citizen who go temporarily to foreign countries to work or study are often referred as NRN. If that were the case a lot of Nepali actresses can be termed NRN because, actress Priyanka Karki, Nisha Adhikari, Ashishma Nakarmi etc. had studied in the USA and had lived there for a while. Reecha Sharma had also gone to a foreign country for a training. A lot of other actresses have gone to India for training or work. We have a lot of Indian actresses in Nepali film industry. We don’t consider actresses like Niruta Singh, Tripti Naadkar, or Sushmita KC as foreign or NRN actresses, although they have their parental home in India and might be carrying an Indian passport.

Almost all the artists have entered in politics. The political parties have also actively pursued the artists as they have a huge fan base. The actress Rekha Thapa, singer Komal Oli etc. have entered Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
Actress Karishma Manandhar, Saroj Khanal etc. have entered Naya Shakti Nepal party. Similarly, actor Bhuwan KC is active as a politician in CPN UML party. A lot of other artists have entered CPN Maoist and its factions. A well known journalist Rabindra Mishra had also entered the politics by starting a new political party, Sajha Party.

The shooting of the movie produced jointly by Chhabi Raj Ojha and Shilpa Pokharel ‘Mangalam’ has finished. The shooting was packed up two days earlier than previously scheduled. According to the report, the movie was scheduled to complete in 35 days but it was finished in 33rd days.
The movie ‘Mangalam’ features the romance of Shilpa Pokharel and Prithivi Raj Prasai. Actress Samragyee RL Shah is also featured in as an actress in the movie. The debut movie of the actress Shilpa Pokharel, as a producer, is scheduled to release on Dashain of this year.
During the release of Shilpa Pokharel’s debut movie, Chhabi intentionally created a rumour about their marriage. In a program by Prakash Subedi, Chhabi and Shilpa admitted that they were going to marry soon. Later, in an interview, Shilpa told, “That was a very good strategy. Many viewers went to see the movie to see Chhabi’s girlfriend.”

I had initially written this post on Jun 24, 2007. The videos posted at that time are removed. So, I created a video myself – a National anthem video to add in this post.
The National anthem before the country became a republic nation was King’s anthem. The anthem only talked about the king and his land. I will prepare a video about the old national anthem and will update this post in a few days.
When I was a little kid, we had to sing the anthem everyday in the morning.
