The Miss Nepal 2009, Zenisha Moktan, is expecting her first baby this month (in December 2017). A traditional baby shower was organized by the ex-Miss Nepals for Moktan in which seven Miss Nepal showed up. Including Zenisha there are eight Miss Nepal in the following photo:
From Left to Right : Asmi Shrestha (Miss Nepal 2016), Usha Khadgi (Miss Nepal 2000), Priti Sitaula (Miss Nepal 2003), Zenisha Moktan (Miss Nepal 2009, the mother-to-be), Sadichha Shrestha (Miss Nepal 2020), Shweta Singh (Miss Nepal 1999) and Sugarika KC (Miss Nepal 2007)
Among the ex-Miss Nepal present in the ceremony, Sadichha and Asmi were the only two unmarried Miss Nepal and they were the only ones who are not mothers yet. Malvika Subba had given birth to a son in 2016.
As you know:
Now, she is eying being Top 15 by winning the People’s Choice Awards. Nikita writed, “I have got to know that the Top 15 in the coronation night, one delegate would be the People’s Choice.” Excited by the amount of likes and comments in her Beauty with a Purpose video in YouTube, Nikita says, it “already makes me feel like the People’s choice.”
While Nikita keeps her fingers cross, we as her supporters should watch the video and comment on it.
Already a Top 11
Nikita is one of the eleven contestants who are confirmed for the Top 40. There will 29 more additions in the list, later.
Being one of the few selected top contenders in the start – has given her an advantage of bing recognized among the contestants. She has got the opportunity to show herself up to the judges who will have the final say. Other 107 contestants also look at her as a more deserving title-holder than themselves (because, she is already a Top 40, and they are not – at least, not yet.).
Although there is no bikini round in Miss Nepal beauty contest, the winners of the contest have to wear them when they participate in international beauty contests. Earlier, I talked about bikini rounds in Miss Nepal, now it is time to talk about the bikini rounds in Miss Nepal Earth, the runner-ups of Miss Nepal contest. As of 2017, there were 14 Nepali representatives to the contest.
I have collected the bikini photos of all the contestants from 2009 to 2017 and searching the remaining photos. I will update the post as soon as I find their photos. For now, here are bikini photos of most of the contestants from Nepal in Miss Earth from Miss Earth 2009 to Miss Earth 2017:
Rojina Shrestha (2017)
I have talked about Rojina in my previous post. Here are more bikini photos of Rojina Shrestha.
Roshani Khatri (2016)
The Miss Earth Nepal 2017, Rojina Shrestha, is currently participating Miss Earth beauty contest held in Philippines. The first runner up of Miss Nepal 2017 went to Philippines on October 7 and is preparing herself for the finale to be held on November 4. As a part of the contest, Shrestha posed in two-piece bikini recently. Here are some of the photos of the Nepali model in the contest.
The bikini round of the contest was held during the press presentation held at Diamond Hotel. Although Miss World, has removed bikini rounds a few years ago, Miss Earth continues to include bikini round it its competition.
After Miss Nepal 1995 Sumi Khadka, Miss Nepal World 1997 Jharana Bajracharya and Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba, now it is the turn of another ex-Miss Nepal to become a mother. Miss Nepal 2009, Zenisha Moktan, who got married last year (read Zenisha’s marriage report), is going to give birth to a child soon. Moktan with a clearly visible baby bump is in a vacation in preparation for the child birth.
The expectant mother and father had organized a party to announce the pregnancy a while ago. Here is a short video report of the event.
Is it a boy or a girl?
The couple had also announced if it is a boy or a girl in the event. To create the suspense they played a game. To-be father held two balloons with blue coloured confetti in one and pink coloured confetti in another. To-be mother had held two plates with pink and blue confetti in them. While Dikesh Malhotra created a tension by taking time in squishing one of the balloons, Zenisha waited excitedly to throw the confetti from one of the plates.
A professional model, Nikita Chandak, was crowned Miss Nepal 2017 in an event held on June 2 2017. There had been some online rumours that “Nikita doesn’t look like Nepali” or “she is an Indian.” But in reality, she is a hundred percent Nepali. Even before the finale, I thought she was the most suitable candidate to be crowned Miss Nepal. That was the reason I prepared her biography and told she was “deserving candidate.”
Why did I think Nikita Chandak was the most suitable candidate to be crowned Miss Nepal?
On analyzing the 19 contestants, I had guessed either Nikita Chandak or Niti Shah to be crowned Miss Nepal. That was why I prepared the biography videos of those two contestants. My guess was right, Nikita was crowned and Niti was crowned the Miss Nepal International.
My guess was not a mere guess – it was a “calculated guess”. I had evaluated their background and their personality and the strength of their desire to become Miss Nepal. A few days before the contest, Miss Nepal 2016, Asmi Shrestha, had expressed that Nikita Chandak stood out in a fashion show held in Kathmandu. When I looked at her background and personality, she seem to give off the confidence and the personality a Miss Nepal needs.
Watch the introduction video of Nikita Chandak (I prepared it before she was crowned!)
The outgoing Miss Nepal, Asmi Shrestha, gave a heart touching farewell speech during the finale of Miss Nepal 2017. I have transcribed the speech for those who would love to read it. Nikita Chandak was later crowned Miss Nepal 2017. The first runner up Rojina Shrestha was crowned Miss Nepal Earth, Niti Shah crowned Miss Nepal International and Sahara Basnet was crowned Miss Nepal Asia Pacific International crowns. Read the full report of Miss Nepal 2017.
The summary of Asmi Shrestha’s farewell speech (main points)
- The most important thing she did as Miss Nepal was ‘Classroom and Beyond’ project. The project had helped her to be the top five in Miss World in the ‘Beauty with the Purpose’.
- Meeting Nepali people in Nepal and abroad and feeling of the respect and love towards Miss Nepal title was heart touching to Asmi.
- Before being Newar or Bahun or Chhetri or Rai or any other caste, the Miss Nepal crown holder is a Nepali. She asked everybody to treat as being Nepali rather than being of certain caste.
- The crown had taught the crown holders to stay strong, to believe in themselves, and keep their heads high. She also believed that it has also prepared them for the life that lies ahead of them.

Ruby Rana beauty secret
Although crowned more than two decades ago, the first Miss Nepal is still fit and beautiful. She has maintained her body and looks for more than two decades. Maintaining the looks is not an easy task. Being a beautician has helped Ruby in doing it right.
In the morning – right after waking up she drinks lukewarm lemon water. Then her regular yoga workout starts. In addition to yoga she also exercises everyday. The type of exercise however are not consistent. She does jumba, aerobics and gym workout at home.
- In breakfast Ruby eats cornflakes, cucumber and watermelon.
- In lunch she eats roti, daal and cooked vegetables. (bread, dal and tarkari)
- In the evening she only drinks soup.
- She has also become a vegetarian these days. That is because she likes drinking when she eats meat. As alcohol is not good for the health and beauty, she tries to keep herself away from alcohol.
- Ruby also drinks 14-15 glases of water in a day.
