This is a comprehensive list of beauty contests in Nepal. We will update the list to make it as detailed as possible after every beauty contests. Some of the details of past events are missing in some cases. The information will be updated as we could gather those information. Your help will be highly appreciated (contact us).

I wrote about the flood of beauty contests in December when there were 3 beauty contests being held in a week’s time (hat-trick, if you like – Republica Miss Teen, Riddhi Siddhi Miss Teen, and Miss Teen Tamang). After that, we had College Ambassador, Miss Mangol, Miss India Worldwide Nepal, Kid Queen, Miss Lumbini, and announcements of Miss Tamang (canceled) plus combined Miss Tamang and Miss Aryan. That is not all, we have a recent announcement of yet another contest, Miss Angel 2010.
The organizers of Miss Angel believe that the event will be nearly equivalent to Miss Nepal in terms of size! (But, I don’t have any reason to believe it.) The event is going to be held on July 17. They have only a month to prepare for the event and they want it to make a grand event… It however looks better in terms of prizes – Rs. 100,000 for the winner and 50,000 and 30,000 for the first and second runner up is not a bad prize money.
A rough history of beauty contests from November to May (10 contests in 7 months and another hat-trick beauty contest announcement for July)**
Shristi Neupane, grade 12 student of Campion School has become the Miss Teen, 2066. Divyaprabha Jha and Aditi Kharel have become the first and second runner-ups respectively.
In the event organized by Movie House, Miss Teen Shristi also won the Miss Photogenic title and a cash prize of Rs. 31,000.
Priyanka Shrestha won Miss Popularity, Nawang Moktan won Miss Glamorous, Bhawana Gurung – Miss Culture, and Amriya Khanal got Best Hair awards.
After winning the title, Miss Teen Shristi Neupane told that has decided not to go abroad as she had planned before. She wanted to do social works in the country.
There are a couple of videos from one of the Miss Teen events (It is Riddhi Siddhi Miss Teen not the Republica Miss Teen) posted below. Contest, organizers, and location doesn’t really matter here. What matters is how they are organized and trained. The primary language of the event is English and the participant Teens find it really difficult.
I know, the winner of the event might need to participate in international arena. But, does that mean the primary language of the event should be made English when their first language is not English? My first language is not English and at times I find myself short of words while writing here. I have time… I can take forever to post an article and still my English sucks at times. These kids have talked in Nepal all their lives and they had to practice each lines they speak by heart – I am wondering, how can they be creative in the event?
Enough of talks. Let’s see the video and see how funny it looks when the participants introduce themselves in English.
I thought Miss Teen was already done. But, it was Republica Miss Teen and now it is Riddhi Siddhi Miss Teen. If the trend continues every teen girls in the street will have at least one Miss Teen title. Records are to be broken. There were three beauty contests in the last week of December and I am positive in seeing three contests in a single day. Are Guinness people listening?
Poor boys, I wish there were at least one Mr. Teen… sorry guys.
