It was on April 11, 2018, Miss Nepal 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada was crowned the new Miss Nepal. Right after that, she started preparing for the Miss World competition. She did an awesome work to a Chepang community in her home district.
Right before Miss Nepal finale – Shrinkhala wrote – “Miss Nepal was not a coincidence for me. I have dreamed and visualized of myself being here for years now. I never told anyone because I was scared that people might not think I was worthy enough.”
And she won the title!
A video report on her journey :
Miss Nepal 2018, Shrinkhala Khatiwada has made a new record in the Miss World beauty contest. Although the Beauty with a Purpose title was not to first for Nepal, Multimedia award was the first title to Nepal. Winning two titles in Miss World on the same day was another first in the Miss World contest. She will bring home more titles for sure:
I have compiled a list of saying of ex-Miss Nepal and their statements on the success of Miss Nepal in Miss World.
This is Miss Nepal 2017 Nikita Chandak’s statement about Shrinkhala’s success:
How can Shrinkhala go to semi finals of Miss World 2018? Here is the answer:
There are six contests. Only one of them has already completed – top model competition. In that contest, Shrinkhala was one of the Top 32. Remaining 5 contests are:
- Head to Head Challenge
- Multimedia Award
- Beauty with a purpose
The three possible competitions she might win are Head to Head challenge, Multimedia award and Beauty with Purpose.
15 contestants will be selected by these competitions. There is a high chance that she gets more than one titles. If she wins more than one, she will be considered to be possible winner.
Shrinkhala has also given the details in her Instagram posts:
A lot of Nepali were shocked when Miss Nepal Shrinkhala faced a problem with her gown during the ramp walk of Top Model Competition of Miss World 2018. My video report:
To the issue, Shrinkhala had clarified it bye sharing the following statement:
Nepali people are good at online voting and supporting their representative in the international arena. Now, Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada has got a huge support from the Nepali people all around the world.
If you are not sure how to vote Shrinkhala in Miss World, here is the video where she herself gives the details:
In the Top Model competition of Miss World, Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada was one of the top 32. But, she couldn’t win the title. Although Shrinkhala couldn’t win any title, that is ok because, she wasn’t aiming to win the title in the first place. The category is not an strong category for an intelligent nerd. Being in top 32 in a purely modelling category is a huge boost in her capability out of her nerdy-realm.
The winners of Beauty of World Miss World 2018 Top Model Fast Track were:
Winner – Miss France
Runner up -China PR
2nd Runner up – Senegal
4th – Korea
5th – South Africa
Top 32 out of 118 contestants
This is crazy – unheard of – record breaking video of a Nepali beauty queen that got 700,000 views in a day. Miss Nepal Shrinkhala Khatiwada released the introduction video in her own channel and it got 100s of thousands of views instantly. Watch the following video and you will say, “Yes, it deserves the attention.”:
Shrinkhala wrote a long post on how she prepared for the video, how she wrote the script and how the team worked on it to make it that good. The status is a clear indication that she also deserves the Miss World title this year. I believe, no other contestants have prepared themselves this much for the title.

Namaste everyone! I don't know where do I begin. I am out of words to express my gratitude towards the support and love that you have been showering us with! We released the introduction video last night and in less than 24 hrs, we've managed to get 6, 60,000 views! This is going to be a long caption, please bear with me ❤️ Ever since I was crowned as a Miss Nepal, I knew that I was going to Miss World carrying the entire country on my shoulders. The introduction video might not seem like a big deal but, for me it was a huge platform to represent Nepal to the world. Nepal is extremely diverse, and to show it in a short video whilst introducing my personal self was a big challenge. I wanted someone fresh and talented to do this project. Upon a lot of research, I decided that @abinbho was the best person who could do it. He seemed passionate, hard working and I felt like his work needed much more exposure. Luckily , he agreed as well! We must have had at least 10 meetings before we finalized on the entire concept. I would constantly write the script and scrap it off because it never seemed to capture the essence of my place and I. We finally had a concept and a rough script ready. We shot for more 10 days in total. Struggled a lot to find sponsors, to manage time, to manage all the necessary resources within hours notice. It's not easy when you have a nature of micro managing everything, but somehow, with a lot of support, we pulled it off! We had done the dubbing prior to the shoot. In between, we also had the music ready. I remember when Abin called at midnight to play the first draft of the music by incredibly talented @kobidbazra. We were hooked! Then was the most challenging part to piece it all together. We started out with a mindset of producing 2:30 long video but it couldn't execute the concept that we had. We had a draft ready but something felt missing every time. I got lucky to meet @sisanbaniya on our trip to Thailand. On one of the nights, I shared with him the idea and the script that I had planned, I remember he high fived me at least 10 times and promised to help us in any way possible. Which he whole heartedly did.. Cont'd..
The remaining part (lost in the sea of comments in the embeded post above):
The essence that felt missing, he filled it with his script and pieced it perfectly together. Most of the best parts of the script are mostly his ideas. We tweeked the music here and there and dubbed it again at the day after Laxmi Puja.
Abin has done an incredible job. He often used to tell me that he wanted to make this the best project of his life so far and I am so proud that it has actually turned out to be that way. Every single shot has a story and at least 15 backups behind it. We’ve really worked hard.
Most of the mesmerizing shots of Nepal are by @manish.maharjan444. He is another person who never fails to amaze me. Thank you so much for being a part of this incredible journey. He has a big role to play for both introduction video and bwap documentary.
There are a lot of people that I am due to thank @ASTIKSHERCHAN
kanchan di and kabita for making sure I looked good at freezing temperatures. @prashanna_07, ananta, rojan, sishir dai , nisha , Mohit, @ktmcty @anta @TRISHOOLSPORTS, JGI group, Nepal Tourism Board, The Hidden Treasure
Talking about the history – the closest Nepal has ever reached to the Miss World crown was in 2013. Miss Nepal Ishani Shrestha was one of the Top 10 that year. She had also won the Beauty with the Purpose title.
Shrinkhala is a well rounded personality – she has the charisma to outshine Ishani. Will, Shrinkhala Khatiwada create history for Nepal this year?
I believe she will !!
Watch the following video to know my thoughts:
There is a high chance that Shrinkhala Khatiwada, Miss Nepal 2018, might be able to bring home the Miss World crown. That is because, she is the most deserving candidate so far. There were capable contestants before. But, Shrinkhala seems to be better than all of them because of her confidence, intelligence and beauty.
An example of her talent was seen at the Talent round of Miss Nepal:
What do Miss World 1994, Miss World 1997, Miss World 1999 and Miss World 2000 have in common?
One common thing is, they all are Indian and another, they all are Bollywood actresses.
- Aishwarya Rai was Miss World 1994 (very successful Bollywood actress)
- Diana Hayden was Miss World 1997 (a Bollywood actress)
- Yukta Mookhey was Miss World 1999 (a Bollywood actress)
- Priyanka Chopra was Miss World 2000 (very successful Bollywood actress)
The only Miss World from India, Reita Faria, Miss World 1966, pursued her career as a medical doctor and didn’t choose acting as her career. It is a coincidence that the new Miss World, who is also an Indian, Manushi Chhillar is also studying to be a medical doctor.
Will Manushi Chhillar also be an actress in Bollywood – time will surely tell. Chhillar was crowned the Miss World in the event held in China on November 18, 2017 by Miss World 2016, Stephanie Del Valle, of Puerto Rico.
The first Runner-Up is Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza and the second runner up is from England, Stephanie Hill. Other two in the Top 5 position were Miss France, Aurore Kichenin and Miss Kenya, Magline Jeruto.
UPDATE : It is a sad news. Nikita couldn’t make it to Top 15.
It is Miss World 2017 Coronation Night Tonight, on November 18, 2017. Our Miss Nepal World, Nikita Chandak, is the first Miss Nepal to reach that close to the crown because, in addition to being one of the Top 40 in the contest, she has also been successful in being:
- Winner of Head to Head challenge
- Top 8 in Multimedia Contest
- Top 10 in People’s Choice Award (Winner is yet to be announced)
- Top 20 in Beauty With a Purpose
- Top 30 in Top Model
- Top 40 in Miss World 2017, overall (Winners, higher ranks, are yet to be announced)
The coronation night of the 67th edition of Miss World is being held at Sanya City Arena in China on November 18. The Miss World will be chosen from the pool of 118 contestants from all over the world.
As you know:
Now, she is eying being Top 15 by winning the People’s Choice Awards. Nikita writed, “I have got to know that the Top 15 in the coronation night, one delegate would be the People’s Choice.” Excited by the amount of likes and comments in her Beauty with a Purpose video in YouTube, Nikita says, it “already makes me feel like the People’s choice.”
While Nikita keeps her fingers cross, we as her supporters should watch the video and comment on it.
Already a Top 11
Nikita is one of the eleven contestants who are confirmed for the Top 40. There will 29 more additions in the list, later.
Being one of the few selected top contenders in the start – has given her an advantage of bing recognized among the contestants. She has got the opportunity to show herself up to the judges who will have the final say. Other 107 contestants also look at her as a more deserving title-holder than themselves (because, she is already a Top 40, and they are not – at least, not yet.).
A day after she was selected to be one of the Top 40 at the Miss World 2017, she is selected to be one of the semi-finalist of Beauty with a Purpose contest. The following video has helped her to be one of the semi-finalists.
When I watched the video, I have a feeling that Nikita has done a lot of work and everything is presented in an interesting and heart touching manner. It is a great social work, an essential one, and a life changing work for the girls and the women involved. I hope the judges will see what I have observed. I expect Nikita to be successful in winning the Beauty with a Purpose title.
I wrote about Nikita being one of the Top 40 yesterday. As Nikita has already won the Head to Head Challenge round of Group 3, if she could win a second title, that would help her in the overall contest. Being one of the semi-finalist in itself is a great feat and she has increased her chance to claim the Miss World crown.
In the Top Model contest, Nikita could manage to go up to Top 30 and failed to go higher than that.
Nikita was crowned Miss Nepal 2017 in June and she was preparing herself for the contest for the last five months.
I knew Nikita has something that makes her a winner. Now, Miss Nepal has been one of the Top 40 in Miss World 2017 beauty pageant after winning the Head to Head Challenge round of Group 3. The 20-years-old Miss Nepal was also selected in the Top 30 of the Top Model Fasttrack event. She however couldn’t make it to Top Model final of that event.
After winning Miss Nepal 2017 title, Nikita is representing Nepal in the 67th edition of Miss World, being held at Sanya, China. The finale of the contest is scheduled to be held on November 18, 2017. A total of 118 participants are competing for the crown this year and being top 40 means a lot for the Miss Nepal. The current Miss World, Miss World 2016, Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico will hand over the crown to the winner of the contest on next Saturday.
Nikita’s Gown at Miss World
Although Nikita wasn’t successful in winning title, she was selected in Top 30 thanks to an attractive gown she wore at the contest. She was wearing a gown designed by Manis Rai. Nikita has shared Rai’s statement about the gown, “The design has been inspired from the rich heritage of Nepal. It has intricate details inspired from the Mithila art.” Mithila art had evolved in Janakpur of East Nepal.
Till last year, top 3 winners of Miss Nepal contests used to represent international beauty contests. Starting this year, one more Miss Nepal will represent Nepal in the international contest. The fourth placed winner of Miss Nepal 2017 will now go to Miss Asia Pacific beauty contest.
Miss Nepal in Miss Asia Pacefic
Although the fourth place winner of Miss Nepal is going to participate in Miss Asia Pacific beauty contest this year, this is not the first time Miss Nepal had participated in the contest. That was the first international beauty contests Miss Nepal used to go before the agreement with the Miss world beauty contest.
The first Miss Nepal, Ruby Rana, (in 1994) participated in Miss Asia Pacific 1994 in Philippines. After Ruby, Miss Nepal 1995 Sumi Khadka and Miss Nepal 1996 Punam Ghimire also participated in Miss Asia Pacific contests.
I have collected rare bikini photos and videos of most of the Miss Nepal and prepared a video. After preparing the video I am sharing additional photos of the Miss Nepal.
Watch the UPDATED video
Let me start with the first Miss Nepal 1994 – Ruby Rana
Ruby Rana participated in Miss Asia Pacific beauty contest, held in Philippines. Here is a photo of Ruby catwalk in her red bikini is included in the video
The Miss World 2015 title went to Miss Spain Mireia Lalguna Royo. The first runner up of the contest is Miss Russia and the second runner up is Miss Indonesia. Nepali representative to the Miss World, Miss Nepal Evana Manandhar returned home returned home without winning any titles but, she has successfully represented Nepal in the international arena.
On the final day, Evana had danced in a traditional Nepali dress on the song ‘Jaun Jaun Relaima …’ Evana had danced in the secion ‘Dances of the World’.
