Poster copy, Bidhuwa poster copied from Hindi film Kaanchi poster

Poster copying is not a new thing in Nepali film industry. The movie released this Friday also has the poster photoshopped from a Subash Ghai film ‘Kaanchi’. The poster has the face of the ‘Kaanchi’ actress replaced by the face of Sonu Ghimire.

A poster is the face of a movie and the attractiveness of a poster is directly proportional to the viewership in the movie. But, when somebody can clearly see the poster is copied from another movie, it is clear that there is no originality in the movie. Nobody would like to waste their hard-earned money in the movie made by somebody who don’t even design their own posters.

Poster morphing in Nepali movies, a new free advertising ?

It seems, Nepali film makers have decided that poster plagiarism is one of the marketing strategies. Although morphing of posters are criticized by almost everybody, remotely interested in Nepali movies, more and more movies are repeating the same thing.

The last movie we wrote about such poster copy was of ‘Wrong Way’, posted less than two weeks ago. Our readers, who otherwise wouldn’t know about the movie at least knew that the movie features Jiya KC and is being made.

We guess, the producers of ‘Producer’ knew about the free publicity and have released their own copy-paste poster. And, we fell for them and are posting their poster with the original (Shim Ant shared it in our Facebook page.) The photoshoped copy of the poster of an Alex Gibney’s film ‘Casino Jack and the United States of Money’ is made by adding a six Nepali faces in it.

Poster morphing, concept stealing – damaging trend in Nepali movies

We posted a poster of Nepali movie "Premika" in which, the poster was 100% copy from a Telugu movie. The poster of another movie, Devyani, isn’t 100 percent copy but it also has picked poster of a German movie ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer ‘ to add in it’s poster. Such a copy in poster reduces the credibility of the movie and gives an impression that the movie itself is not original.
