In her late 40s, actress Karishma Manandhar has appeared in the grade 10 examination, SEE on March 23, 2019. This year, parliamentarian Shanta Chaudhary is also appearing in the examination.
While Manandhar took her exam in her Kathmandu center, Chaudhary took her exam in her home place, Tulsipur of Dang district. These adults are the inspiration to young and old to take their studies seriously.
Biography of Karishma:
Actress Karishma Manandhar started her education in grade 8 in Triveni School. Manandhar’s exam center is located in Bijaya Smarak High School, Dilli Bazar. On the first day, it is the examination of English language. Journalists were present at the center to talk to the actress and her experience of taking the examination.

Like every years the Nepali celebrities worshiped goddess Laxmi, the goddess of wealth on the third day of Tihar.

The main attraction of the celebration is preparing beautiful rangoli and cooking good foods. Rangoli is the art imported from India. It is similar to our own Mandala art. Nepali celebrities make good rangoli and share them in their social media. I have collected some photos of the actresses showing their talent.

In the past, when you call Karishma Manandhar an “uneducated actress”, she would respond in anger. Now, the situation has changed. She accepts, she is uneducated and she is doing all she can to change that. She had lived her whole life being tagged “uneducated”.
But, Karishma had always taken the accusation a challenge. A 6th grade passed actress (she was in grade 7 when she stared acting). She never appeared in grade 7 exam. In the Nepali education system, where English language teaching starts at grade 4, Karishma had only studied English for 2 years. The same Karishma went to the USA, studied English language and wrote articles in her personal blog (it is sad, I didn’t save her blog posts at that time. I couldn’t find any saved archives of her blog yet.) When I read her posts at that time, she seemed to be well in command of the language. She passed the English language test to get the Green Card. It is another story that, she might have relinquished the card now.

The movie is made on the story of the musician Sambhujit Baskota, who has also composed the music of the movie.

These days, tattoo are quite popular among the youths and middle-aged people. A lot of Nepali artists, including actresses are getting new tattoos on them. The latest in the group of actresses are Samragyee RL Shah, Sweta Khadka, Pooja Sharma, Poojana Pradhan, Sagun Shahi, Namrata Sapkota and others. Actress Priyanka Karki inked herself during her college days in USA.
Some people cringe when they see tattoos on sensitive parts of their bodies and other prefer to show off their artistic nature by inking in such body parts. A lot of celebrity kids have entered the Nepali film industry. In a latest news, actress Jharana Thapa is introducing her daughter Suhana Thapa in her second directorial venture, ‘A Mero Hajur 3’. The movie will feature another celebrity son, Anmol KC. Both the parents of Anmol KC – Sushmita KC and Bhuwan KC are film artists. Actress Karishma Mandhar got pissed off when a journalist wrote about her attire during a press meet. It was not only about her attire. It was more about her character, her intelligence and the way she talks. When I first read the the news article, I thought it was some sort of comedy.

As I am an artist, every activities of mine are connected to glamour. At the same time, being a public figure, I have to be careful on my personal activities (like eating, siting, wearing, speaking etc.)
But, in the second decade of 21st century and being a citizen of a free country, shouldn’t I be free to eat, wear, and speak the things I like?
The thing I have objection is – Ok, if I had worn an inappropriate dress – why don’t you comment only on the dress? What would they get by commenting about my style of speaking, things I like to do, my desire, and make fun of everything I do? The coat and skirts of Trthur’s Levine are not bought to be worn at home.
It is an attack on my personal freedom in the name of the dress I wear. It is an attack to womenkind. For those yellow journalists, I have worn this dress – BLACK. Now, make a caption of this (like you made – childish behaviour of a 55 years old).

Was Karishma’s response appropriate?
I totally agree that the magazine’s article wasn’t appropriate. But, Karishma’s response in Facebook wouldn’t solve the problem. There are journalist associations that take care of such articles. There is court of law about defamation.
Actually, such response in social media would create an environment write articles so that they could have a follow up article to be written in the next edition. I am sure, this response will make it into next edition of that magazine. They would certainly love such responses from celebrities.
I think, a better way of dealing with the situation is to call them. Talk to them about the issue and also call the journalist associations and organizations. Such steps will create an environment in which, the reporter start to think about the consequences.

“Ho Yehi Maya Ho” is a presentation of Subas Entertainment. This is the debut movie of actress Jiya KC. The movie was released on May 24, 2013. The actress made a lot of negative response for her role in controversial movie ‘ATM’. After that, she did similar movies for a while. But, when none of her movies worked, she has stopped acting these days. She is in relationship with actor Bhuwan KC. She is helping Bhuwan in his film production. Although the movie featured big names like Rajesh Hamal and Karishma Manandhar, the movie didn’t work well in box office.
Actor Shiva Shrestha has debuted as a producer of a movie. The movie titled ‘Yeuta Yesto Prem Kahani’ is going to introduce two celebrity children in the Nepali film industry. Actress Kabita Manandhar is the daughter of actress Karishma Manandhar and actor Shakti Shrestha is the son of Shiva Shrestha.
Shiva Shrestha organized a press meet to release the trailer of his debut movie and announce the debut of the two new artists in the movie. Talking at the event, Shiva Shrestha told that his son, Shakti Shrestha, had always wanted to be an actor. He had also acted in a film as a child artist. Shiva told him to wait for the right time. In the mean time, Shakti went to Australia and studied there. He was working when Shiva decided that it was the right time to introduce his son in the film industry. Shakti told that it was a surprise to himself when his father proposed him to act in the movie.
The movie ‘Yeuta Yesto Prem Kahani’ is full of well known artists. There is a possibility that the new actors get lost in the crowd of well known artists.
Actress Karishma Manandhar has passed grade 9 exam and has been promoted to grade 10. The actress in her late 40s has started going to school to complete her studies. She started in grade 8 and now she is in her third year in school.
Karishma had been studiying in Triveni School, Maitidevi since grade 9. Now, she is continuing in the school in grade 10. At the time of election, every citizen are inclined towards one political force or the others. But, as the voting in an election is secret and people don’t need to tell who they have voted for, one doesn’t need to tell about political inclination. But, the artists we are active politically have to show their artistic talent for the party or the candidate they endorse. Here are the list of popular artists and their political inclination.
Komal Oli – RPP to UML
Singer and journalist Komal Oli decided to go into full time politics and resigned from the Radio Nepal job a while ago. But, as soon she was elected the central committee member of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) the party divided into two parties. After that, she decided to join CPN UML. Although Komal wasn’t allowed to represent the party in the election Now, she is promoting the party in the election.
Komal Oli had expected to get ticket to represent CPN UML at the Dang Constituency 3 in the election. But, things didn’t go as she expected. Now, she is participating in the election campaign. Based on her previous stances, there is no gurantee that she will continue to represent the party.
Radhika Hamal – Nepali Congress
Well known singer Radhika Hamal has chosen Nepali Congress to sing the election songs. Hamal had also participate in the local election but, was defeated.
Hamal is asking the people to vote for the candidates of Congress in the current election.
Badri Pangeni, CPN UML
Well known singer of ‘Sasurali ma’ and other popular folk singer is affiliated to CPN UML and Bam Gathabandhan in this election. He sings songs promoting the party, the leaders KP Oli and Prachanda. He says that he is not worried about being tagged a party-singer because he had been doing that for the last 23 years.
Although he will be singing election songs during the election, he will still be a singer and will sing for the people and art.
Manoj Gajurel – UML and Maoist
Known for his comedy caricature, Manoj Gajurel is also asking the people to vote for CPN UML and CPN Maoist candidates in the election. He has been active member of CPN UML in the past and he is open about his political inclination.
Manoj says that an artist is free to choose the political party they support. He also believes his fans won’t be disappointed because of his political activities.
Karishma Manandhar (Naya Shakti)
Actress Karishma has transformed herself from a fully devoted actress to a fully devoted political leader after joining Naya Shakti party of Baburam Bhattarai. Although the party is yet to be recognized by the people, she is actively campaigning for the party and its leaders. She is also one of the candidate in the election.
A lot of members of the new party left Baburam after a while, Karishma is still with Baburam. The artists who joined the party with Karishma – Saroj Khanal and Ashok Sharma are not active in the party activities. Karishma is giving her full time to the party and expects to return to film industry after the election.
Rekha Thapa, Not sure
Actress Rekha Thapa’s political inclination has been very unstable. She entered CPN Maoist at the time of the second election of the CA. But, her candidacy was withdrawn when she wasn’t registered as a voter. A while ago she left the party and joined RPP with Komal Oli. While Komal Oli has left the party Rekha decided to leave Kamal Thapa and join the party faction of Pashupati Shumsher JBR.
Rekha’s activities in political parties seem to be having negative impact in her popularity. The proof is her latest release, ‘Rudrapriya’. Although the movie features two of the top actors of the Nepali film industry, people didn’t go to theatre to watch it.
In the election, Rekha went to Sindhpalchowk in the election campaign of Pashupati Shumsher.
Actor Nir Shah is an active Nepali Congress supporter. But, Shah isn’t seen in the election campaigns.
The political activities of the past include Nawal Khadka and Deepak Shrestha. Nawal Khadka is affiliated with the CPN Maoist and he had also made movies for the party. But, his movies were not much successful. Khadka is actively participating in the election campaigns. Director Deepak Shrestha is also actively participating the election campaigns of Bam Gathabandan.
Musician Chetan Sapkota is also one of the supporters of Maoist party. He also helped a lot of artists to join the party. But, these days, Sapkota is not seen in election campaigns.

Kancha is the first presentation of Shivapuri Films by Diamond Singh Malla. The director, Surya Bohara had written the story script and the dialogue of the movie. The movie featuring Karishma, Jal Shah was one of the hit movies of the time. After a long gap, Surya Bohara had produced ‘Mutu’ and ‘Thuli’ in the year 2014.
This xNepali movie features superstar of the Nepali film industry, Rajesh Hamal, with one of his most liked online-couple, Karishma Manandhar. Rajesh Hamal and Jal Shah is another most liked couple at that time. Both Karishma and Jal went to USA and didn’t return back for a while.
