Director – Aditya Bikram Lamsal
The film ‘Loafer’ marks the first movie of Chhabi Raj Ojha without Rekha after he debuted Rekha in ‘Hero’ (watch ‘Hero’). He introduced Rajani KC in the film. Initially, Rajani was expected to replace Rekha in Chhabi’s film but, he found an actress in looks similar to Rekha, Shilpa Pokharel, in ‘Lazza’. So far, Shilpa Pokharel seem to fit in the shoes of Rekha in Chhabi camp and she has already done hat-trick by working in three films of Chhabi Raj Films banner. In addition, Chhabi is rumored to be wooing Shilpa to make his fourth wife.
The review of ‘Loafer’ wasn’t as positive as expected and the film wasn’t recommended by our reviewer. The movie was initially scheduled to release on the same date with Rekha Thapa‘s film ‘Kali’ (watch ‘Kali’). But, when Rekha agrees to let Chhabi distribute the film, he re-scheduled the release date of ‘Loafer’.

The story of the super hit movie of 2012, ‘Loot’ is written by the director, Nischal Basnet. The movie proved to be a relief at the time when the Nepali movie industry was going in a downward spirals. Actress and model Sushma Karki’s item dance ‘Undreko choli …’ established the actress as the hot actress in Nepali film industry. Most of the actors, new in the movie, are now well established actors in the industry and the movie represents a new start and the confidence of the Nepali film industry. Although 4 new Nepali movies were released on the day ‘Loot’ was released, the movie managed to become the top grossing movie of the year.
Four new movies are being released on May 16, 2014 in theaters all over Nepal. Director Subash Koirala‘s movie ‘Aawaran’, director Prashant Tamang’s direction ‘Thulo Manche’, Niranjan Kasaju’s movie ‘Peepal’ and Janakraj Khakurel’s movie ‘Khudkilo’ are releasing in theater this Friday.
The most publicized movies among the four new releases is ‘Aawaran’. The movie directed by Subash Koirala is also told to be made by using latest graphic technology. The movie features actress Priyanka Karki in leading role and other actors in the movie include Divya Dev, Sushil Raj Pandey, Naresh poudel, Anubhav Regmi and others. The movie made on horror suspense thriller is produced by Anil Yonjan.
A movie made on a story of children, ‘Thulo Manche’ is directed by artist Prashant Tamang. The movie produced by Pradeep Khadka features a number of child artists. Actress Keki Adhikari is featured in guest role in the movie.
Rekha’s ex-husband Chhabiraj Ojha has started the shooting of his next movie without Rekha Thapa. The second movie of his production house Chhabiraj Films ‘Loafer’ (Lofer) is being shot in Godawari, Lalitpur.
Talking about Rekha being out of the movie, Chhabiraj told that the movie doesn’t have a role suitable for Rekha. The movie features Aryan Sigdel, Rajani KC, Dayahang Rai, and Sushil Raj pandey in main roles. The movie is being directed by Aditya Bikram Lamsal and is being shot by cinematographer Madan Kashyap Ghimire. The shooting of the movie is expected to be complete in a month and it is scheduled to release in Dashain (on Fulpati day) this year.
‘Loot‘ is a Nepali movie. It doesn’t cater the Bollywood flavor. Although the concept of item songs comes from Bollywood, and Loot has made a full use of it, that hasn’t ruined the Nepaliness in the movie.
The item song ‘Udhreko Choli’ and it’s popularity has helped in the marketing of the movie. But, that is not the whole story.Simplicity in story, the style of story telling, better than average acting, no nonsense scenes in the movie are some of the positive aspects in ‘Loot’.
