Deepak Shrestha’s comeback movie shooting is in trouble after actress Keki Adhikari tests positive for COVID-19.
Well known director, Deepak Shrestha is making a comeback after 7 years of absence by directing a movie titled ‘Ghingtang’.
Actress Trouble
1. The movie was told to feature Aliza Gautam in leading role. But, Aliza left the movie citing her father’s health concerns. That was a week prior to the inauguration of the shooting of the movie (Muharta). The movie team had to find a new actress to be featured in the leading role.
2. Deepak Shrestha signed in Laxmi Bardewa. The replacement actress Laxmi Bardewa later told that she has scheduling issues with the shooting of another movie. Laxmi also left the movie before the shooting started. The movie team had to search for another actress for the role.
3. Keki Adhikari was signed the leading role for the movie. Keki was all ready to go to the shooting but, on the day, the COVID test result came positive and she had to quarantine herself.
Deepak Shrestha’s initial movies were successful but, in later days, his movies were unsuccessful. He is known for superhit movies like Sadak, Himmat.
The movie to be made on a story titled ‘Masuko Mulya’ written by Mandria Madhushree. The movie features Gaurav Pahadi in leading role while Nir Shah and Madan Krishna Shrestha are also featured in special roles.

“Ho Yehi Maya Ho” is a presentation of Subas Entertainment. This is the debut movie of actress Jiya KC. The movie was released on May 24, 2013. The actress made a lot of negative response for her role in controversial movie ‘ATM’. After that, she did similar movies for a while. But, when none of her movies worked, she has stopped acting these days. She is in relationship with actor Bhuwan KC. She is helping Bhuwan in his film production. Although the movie featured big names like Rajesh Hamal and Karishma Manandhar, the movie didn’t work well in box office.
At the time of election, every citizen are inclined towards one political force or the others. But, as the voting in an election is secret and people don’t need to tell who they have voted for, one doesn’t need to tell about political inclination. But, the artists we are active politically have to show their artistic talent for the party or the candidate they endorse. Here are the list of popular artists and their political inclination.
Komal Oli – RPP to UML
Singer and journalist Komal Oli decided to go into full time politics and resigned from the Radio Nepal job a while ago. But, as soon she was elected the central committee member of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) the party divided into two parties. After that, she decided to join CPN UML. Although Komal wasn’t allowed to represent the party in the election Now, she is promoting the party in the election.
Komal Oli had expected to get ticket to represent CPN UML at the Dang Constituency 3 in the election. But, things didn’t go as she expected. Now, she is participating in the election campaign. Based on her previous stances, there is no gurantee that she will continue to represent the party.
Radhika Hamal – Nepali Congress
Well known singer Radhika Hamal has chosen Nepali Congress to sing the election songs. Hamal had also participate in the local election but, was defeated.
Hamal is asking the people to vote for the candidates of Congress in the current election.
Badri Pangeni, CPN UML
Well known singer of ‘Sasurali ma’ and other popular folk singer is affiliated to CPN UML and Bam Gathabandhan in this election. He sings songs promoting the party, the leaders KP Oli and Prachanda. He says that he is not worried about being tagged a party-singer because he had been doing that for the last 23 years.
Although he will be singing election songs during the election, he will still be a singer and will sing for the people and art.
Manoj Gajurel – UML and Maoist
Known for his comedy caricature, Manoj Gajurel is also asking the people to vote for CPN UML and CPN Maoist candidates in the election. He has been active member of CPN UML in the past and he is open about his political inclination.
Manoj says that an artist is free to choose the political party they support. He also believes his fans won’t be disappointed because of his political activities.
Karishma Manandhar (Naya Shakti)
Actress Karishma has transformed herself from a fully devoted actress to a fully devoted political leader after joining Naya Shakti party of Baburam Bhattarai. Although the party is yet to be recognized by the people, she is actively campaigning for the party and its leaders. She is also one of the candidate in the election.
A lot of members of the new party left Baburam after a while, Karishma is still with Baburam. The artists who joined the party with Karishma – Saroj Khanal and Ashok Sharma are not active in the party activities. Karishma is giving her full time to the party and expects to return to film industry after the election.
Rekha Thapa, Not sure
Actress Rekha Thapa’s political inclination has been very unstable. She entered CPN Maoist at the time of the second election of the CA. But, her candidacy was withdrawn when she wasn’t registered as a voter. A while ago she left the party and joined RPP with Komal Oli. While Komal Oli has left the party Rekha decided to leave Kamal Thapa and join the party faction of Pashupati Shumsher JBR.
Rekha’s activities in political parties seem to be having negative impact in her popularity. The proof is her latest release, ‘Rudrapriya’. Although the movie features two of the top actors of the Nepali film industry, people didn’t go to theatre to watch it.
In the election, Rekha went to Sindhpalchowk in the election campaign of Pashupati Shumsher.
Actor Nir Shah is an active Nepali Congress supporter. But, Shah isn’t seen in the election campaigns.
The political activities of the past include Nawal Khadka and Deepak Shrestha. Nawal Khadka is affiliated with the CPN Maoist and he had also made movies for the party. But, his movies were not much successful. Khadka is actively participating in the election campaigns. Director Deepak Shrestha is also actively participating the election campaigns of Bam Gathabandan.
Musician Chetan Sapkota is also one of the supporters of Maoist party. He also helped a lot of artists to join the party. But, these days, Sapkota is not seen in election campaigns.
Nepali movie ‘Afnopan’ is a presentation of Niranjan Piya for Khadgamai Films banner. Nepali movie features some of the top actors of Nepali movie industry like Rajesh Hamal, Niruta Singh and Ramesh Upreti. The script and dialogue of the movie is written by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ and produced by Manoj Kumar Shrestha. The director, Deepak Shrestha, is also featured as a guest artist in the movie.

Deepak Shrestha’s movie ‘Majboor’ features Biraj Bhatt and the new entry actress, Anuska Dhakal in leading roles. “Majboor” is a typical masala movie containing all the ingredients that are liked by general movie goers. The movie ‘Papi Manche’ is produced by Raj Kumar Rai for RC Pictures and is made on the story and script of Ugesh Rayamajhi. After the huge success of this film, a sequel ‘Papi Manche 2’ was also produced (watch ‘Papi Manche 2’ here) with Nikhil and Poojana Pradhan. Rajesh Hamal is featured in special appearance. Narayan Puri and NB Maharjan are guest artists. A Nepal Police dog named Hero and a monkey named Shyamu from Mumbai are also the leading characters in the film.
Producer Rose Rana is bringing back Biraj Bhatt in a Nepali movie after a long time. Both Rose and Biraj had been absent from the movie industry for more than five years. In the mean time, Biraj established himself as a action star in Bhojpuri film industry and Rose Rana got married and settled. (UPDATE – the name of the movie is titled ‘Parshuram’.)

The leading actors of the first part, Rajesh Hamal, Karishma Manandhar are however absent in the sequel. Sanchita Luitel and Dilip Rayamajhi are only featured in short special roles. The story of the movie starts after 3 years of the previous one. Two animals featured in the movie are Rockey the dog and Raju the monkey.
Rekha Thapa’s movie ‘Himmat’ was a superhit movie of its time. After the success of ‘Himmat’ the director Deepak Shrestha produced it’s sequel titled ‘Himmat 2‘. Rekha was not happy about the sequel as Deepak didn’t care to consult her and take Yuna Upreti instead her in the movie.
The movie ‘Dukha’ is a presentation of Bala Gurung for World One movies. Guest artists in the movie include Suraj Subba, Uttam KC, Gopal Bhutani, Ram Chandra Adhikari and Jayanada Chand. The choreography in the movie is Alaka Shrestha and Kamal Rai. NB Maharjan is the action director and Raju Thapa is the cinematographer of the movie. The movie is written by Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ and music is composed by Sambhujit Thapa. The editor is Tara Thapa ‘Kimve’. The story and lyrics of the movie is written by the director Deepak himself.
