8 Years in 5 Minutes, Rekha Thapa Holi highlights from 2010 to 2018

I have compiled a video of the Holi celebration of Rekha Thapa from 2010 to the last year’s Holi, Holi 2016. As the Holi 2017 is approaching (the festival is on March 12, 2017) I looked back to the history and compiled the list so that I can update it with the new information on the current Holi. I will share the updated video on or after March 12. The following video lists:

  • Rekha Thapa’s Holi in 2010 – Fun filled Holi celebration with Ayush Rijal at Namaste Nepal. That was before Rekha divorced Chhabi Raj Ojha.
  • Holi in 2011 – Video and photos of the celebration at Karishma’s home at Godawari. Almost all the celebrities in the Nepali film industry had gathered in the holi celebration.
  • Holi in 2012 – Video of Rekha dancing with others while Rajesh Payal Rai sang.
  • Holi in 2013 – Holi celebration with ‘Hamesha’ actor Sabin Shrestha and others.
  • Holi in 2014 – This year, Rekha Thapa was busy in the shooting of ‘Himmatwali’. One of the songs in movie was shot during Holi featuring holi colours.
  • Holi in 2015 – Rekha celebrated Holi with actresses Priyanka Karki and Keki Adhikari at Red Studio.
  • Holi in 2016 – At that time, Rekha was promoting her movie ‘Rampyari’. So, she participated in almost all of the major Holi celebration parties in Kathmandu to promote her movie. She also went to Karishma’s residence, Red Studios and other places.
  • Holi in 2017 – in Karishma Manandhar’s home and promotion of her movie ‘Palash’.

Priyanka Karki 31st birthday, is it time for marriage?

Actress Priyanka Karki turned 31 years old on Feburay 27, 2018. After winning Miss Teen 2015 title, Priyanka decided to devote her life to the entertainment industry. She went to the USA for film studies and returned back to act in movies. Although she had acted in TV serials like ‘Gharbeti Ba’, she debuted in films after she returned back from the USA.

Upcoming film ‘Shatru Gate’ organized a surprise birthday party for the actress in an event held in Kathmandu. Here is a video report of the party.

Right after the declaration of the Constitution of Nepal, the prime minister at that time, Sushil Koirala resigned to give way for the formation of a new government. This post lists all the ministers appointed after the declaration of the new constitution. The historical record of all the cabinets before the Constitution of Nepal 2015 will be listed at the end of this post.

Right after the declaration of the Nepalese Constitution, and after Sushil Koirala stepped down as the Prime Minister of Nepal, Khadga Prasad Oli was elected the new Prime Minister of Nepal on 12 October 2015. Oli was supported by the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and several smaller parties. Khadga Prasad Oli government’s main agenda was to hold election.

Following the Nepalese Constituent Assembly election in 2013, Nepali Congress leader Sushil Koirala was appointed the Prime Minister of Nepal. Sushil Koirala and backed by the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist). According to the power-sharing agreement, the cabinet consisted of 11 ministers from the Nepali Congress and 10 ministers from the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), one minister of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), one minister of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and five ministers from other parties.

Pokhara Restaurant (Part 1)

This is a series about the touristic attraction of Pokhara. Pokhara, the tourist-destination in Nepal has a lot of attractive touristic places. While they are in Pokhara, restaurants are the places to get their daily needs – the food.

There are good foods, bad foods, local foods, international foods and they have various grades. So, I am going through what types food are available in Pokhara and where they are available. The article previously talked about things more than foods that are served in the locations. Now, it is only food and good food that you can eat and enjoy to the fullest.

In addition to restaurants, other touristic attractions are also dealt in other articles in the series.

There are restaurants in every corner of the city. All varieties of restaurants are available at touristic locations like Baidam, Lakeside and Damside. That is the tourist district along the north shore of the Fewa lake

The area is mainly made up of small shops, non-star tourist hotels, restaurants, and bars. Better hotels are located at the southern shore of the Lake and southeastern side of the city where there are more open lands and unhindered view of the surrounding mountains are available.

Out of the 7 lakes in the locality, three are mostly popular – Fewa, Begnas and Rupa lake. Others aren’t that popular:

Most of the tourists who visit Pokhara also trek to the Annapurna Base Camp and Mustang. The east end of the Pokhara valley, in Lekhnath municipality, there are seven smaller lakes such as Lake is known for its fishery projects.

This Nepali movie is a presentation of Big Production House.The executive producer of the movie is Krish Rijal and is produced by Rajesh Ghatani. The movie is the sixth movie of the director Suraj Subba. In our review, Suraj Subba was criticized in failing to bind the story in script. Abinash Gurung is a new introduction in the movie.

RIP Sridevi, Bollywood actress died of cardiac arrest in Dubai

Indian actress SriDevi has died on Feburary 25, 2018 while in Dubai participating in a marriage ceremony.

Who is Sridevi?

Srievi is one of the most popular Bollywood actress of 1990s. Because of her popularity in her time, she was regarded as the first female “superstar” of India. Some of the popular films of Sridevi include Mawaali (1983), Tohfa (1984), Naya Kadam (1984), Maqsad (1984), Masterji (1985), Nazrana (1987), Mr. India (1987), Waqt Ki Awaz (1988) and Chandni (1989). Critically acclaimed commercially successful movies of Sridevi include Sadma (1983), Nagina (1986), ChaalBaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992), Gumrah (1993), Laadla (1994) and Judaai (1997). Sridevi had won five Filmfare Awards and has been nominated ten times. In 2012, Sridevi made a comeback in tine Indian cinema industry after a 15-year-long hiatus with ‘English Vinglish’. In 2013, the Government of India had awarded her the Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian honor.

Shreedevi was born in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, India on August 13, 1963. Her real name was Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan. Her father was Tamil lawyer and her mother was Telugu.

About ‘Manakamana’

The movie directed by Dr. Subodh Pokharel was made before Karishma married. So, she is named Karishma KC in the credit of the movie. The film features the angry young man of the Nepali film industry Shiva Shrestha with Saroj Khanal, a new sensation at that time. Saroj later went to the USA and left the film industry. These days, she has returned back to Nepal and has been working in character roles. The child artist in the film is Sunir Pokharel.

“Paul is my guardian” Aanchal Sharma

Although Aanchal Sharma and Paul Shah try not to express their love to each other verbally, the body language and the expression towards each other clearly show the love for each other. Aanchal’s love towards Paul was clearly evident in the birthday celebration of Paul Shah during the 1 million views celebration of ‘Shatrugate’ film’s song, ‘Rupai Mohani…’.

The song accused of being stolen from an old song is liked by viewers. It features three main couples in the film – Aanchal and Paul, Deepak and Priyanka Karki and Hari Bamsha with Deepa Shree Niraula.

The superhit movie of the past is a presentation of Sudan KC. Featuring Bhuwan KC and Melina in leading role, the film also features Jharana Thapa. The movie is the first film produced under the banner of Shankhadevi Cine Arts, produced jointly by Sudan KC and Sanat Kumar Joshi. Shailesh Acharya and Naresh Poudel are the guest artists in the movie. The child artists are Rojina Ghale and Ayushma Shrestha. Sudan KC and Jharana Rajbhandari are the new face in the movie. Actor Sunil Thapa is featured in a special role. The actress Jharana says that she was 17 years old at the time of production of the movie. Well known director, Shiva Regmi had written the script of the movie.

When Priyanka and Swastima refused to dance with Salman Khan …

The organizers of the Da-bangg Tour Nepal 2018 were stressed out when popular actresses like Priyanka Karki, Swastima Khadka and ‘Thamel Bazaar ‘ dancer Alisha Rai refused to dance in Salman Khan’s concert. The organizers have convinced Sushma Karki and Mala Limbu to dance in the stage in the program. In addition to the actresses two singers including Rajesh Payal Rai have agreed to sing in the program.

Why did Priyanka, Swastima and Alisha refused?

When you look at a broader picture, sharing stage with Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, is a huge honour. Nepali film industry is a very tiny industry when compared to the Indian film industry. Salman is one of the top actors in Bollywood. So, it sure was a huge opportunity. But, Nepali actresses have taken a bold step to refuse the honour because of the way they were approached.

Kri slowdown? Lead actor Anmol KC goes in a vacation, Aditi returns to Mumbai

After the movie ‘Kri’ recovered the investment, the lead actors of ‘Kri’, Anmol KC and Aditi Budhathoki have taken a break from the promotion activities of the movie. While Anmol KC has gone to Jungle Safari in Chitwan with his sister Kajal KC, Aditi has returned back to Mumbai.

Historic – What is in UML and Maoist party unification document? Maoism scrapped

What is in the unification document of CPN Maoist and CPN UML ?

CPN UML and CPN Maoist unification document was signed by
Prachanda (Puspa Kamal Dahal) and KP Oli. In addition to the party chiefs, Jhala Nath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Ishwor Pokharel from UML signed the document. From CPN Maoist Center, Prachanda, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Thapa had signed it. The agreement document states that two parties will be collectively called Communist Party of Nepal. They will have the Marxist-Leninist sub-title.

Shatru Gate couples in posters, Deepak, Deepa, Paul, Aanchal, Priyanka

The first look posters of MaHa jodi’s upcoming movie, ‘Shtru Gate’ is released recently. The posters feature different couples in them. These couples are featured as the characters of three different generations in the movie:

  • Hari Bamsha Acharya and Deepa Shree Niraula
  • Deepak Raj Giri and Priyanka Karki
  • Paul Shah and Aanchal Sharma

The director Pradeep Bhattarai has told that the posters were designed according to the theme of the movie. The posters are prepared by Tauwa Creations on the photos taken by photographer Shreedhar Poudel.

In addition to the artists featured in the posters, other well known actors in the movie include Madan Krishna Shrestha, Kiran KC, Shiva Hari Poudel.  Continue reading

38 or 41, How Many Prime Ministers did Nepal have ?

This is an odd debate. The history is clear but, what is uncertain is – which historical figure can be considered the ‘Prime Minister’ and which can’t. The official website of the office of the prime minster of Nepal states that there were 38 prime ministers so far. The list has some gaps in time line – showing it is clearly missing some of the acting prime ministers like Gyanendra Shah and Mahendra Shah.
