Muna Gauchan – Top 20 in Miss Eco International, Egypt

Miss Eco International 2019, held in Ciaro, Egypt was held on March 31, 2019. In the contest, the representative from Nepal was Muna Gauchan. She didn’t make news when she didn’t win any major titles in the contest. But, she had made and impression by being in the list of top contestants.

Miss Eco International is a relatively new beauty contest. There were participants from 65 countries in the contest. Muna Gauchan was one of the top contestants because, she was selected one of the Top 20 contestant. In Talent Round, Muna Gauchan was one of the Top 15.

As Gauchan couldn’t win any titles, she has found an excuse by telling, “It was my first international beauty peagant, I barely had an idea bout it.” Gauchan says, she wasn’t well prepared when compared to the beauties from well experienced countries in the beginning. But later, she cached up with others. She adds, “… standing out, considered as friendly, energetic, dedicated person, being loved by everyone was one of my biggest achievements.” She says that she is “more than happy and satisfied” by her performance.

Miss Nepal Makeup Kanda – Zenisha Moktan suggests: learn, learn, learn

The Miss Nepal of a decade ago, Zenisha Moktan has talked about the Miss Nepal Make Up Kanda that happened during the audition of Miss Nepal 2019. The kanda has created a debate on what should be done and what shouldn’t be done in terms of beauty contests. It is a check and balance that such pageants need so they can be held accountable. It might sound harsh to the organizers and participants, but these aspects can’t be kept in the closet forever.

That is the reason, I am giving focus on this issue and sharing the views of past winners and of those who have louder voices (like the one of Samraddhi Rai).

Here is Zenisha’s full statement, addressing the Miss Nepal 2019 contestant Ashmita Maharjan, the one who was supposedly ‘bullied’ by Rachana Gurung Sharma:

Dear Girl in the Audition Tape,
Welcome to the parallel Universe where u get outpouring support and appreciation for being you, for being “real”! You have now started your journey to venture into OUR universe and I wish you all the best, go fight for that crown, fight hard! and I hope you bring all these self righteous advocates of inner beauty along with you.. cuz we really need them!
Since we are talking now, Let me tell you this! If you ever get the opportunity to wear that coveted crown, you will be bullied and shamed for the very reason u have garnered support today! You will be picked on every choice you make and god forbid they are “real”! You might then understand the double standards we deal with! You might then understand the hypocrisy we are surrounded with!

Miss Nepal is a ‘Fake Platform of Absolute Fakery’, says Samriddhi Rai

If you don’t know who Samriddhi Rai is, here is a short introduction to the beauty, according to her Facebook profile:

Miss Nepal Make up Kanda, the organizer responds in retaliation (Full press statement)

It seems, Miss Nepal organizer is not willing to admit any mistakes in it’s part. In the press statement, the organizer has told that it is just a part of the competition to evaluate the “frame of mind, level of comfort, confidence and ability of the candidates to tackle the questions in a way that brings out the best from them.”

It denies any intimidation or ill intention. Read the full statement:

The Hidden Treasure is concerned by the issues raised in the social media recently and would like to put the issues in its correct perspective. Candidates’ sitting in any tests, exams or interviews can face some tough questions. This is done in order to find out frame of mind, level of comfort, confidence and ability of the candidates to tackle the questions in a way that brings out the best from them. Not to intimidate, belittle or fail them in the interviews. Such deeds are conducted without any ill intention or to harm, hassle or to tarnish the image of the candidate.

The Hidden Treasure has followed such a process during the audition of Miss Nepal 2019, in an effort to bring out the best from the interviewed candidates which in this case the particular candidate came out brilliantly and is already selected.

Shrinkhala Khatiwada speaks against bullying & Makeup Kanda

In an Instagram post, Miss Nepal 2018, Shrinkhala Khatiwada has spoken against bullying. She writes, “I whole heartedly support the body positivity movement and have been voicing out about your own choices, makeup or no makeup. But, I don’t support bullying. Be it bullying a miss Nepal participant or be it bullying a trainer.”

Shrinkhala claims that the problem is not against an individual but the whole concept of beauty pageant. She writes, “I’m a Miss Nepal at the moment and I often have times when I question the relevance of pageants at all. It’s a never ending battle with my mind. I’ve seen the good and the bad. I was lucky to see mostly the goods of the pageant but there’s more to it.”

About the current incident, Shrinkhala writes, “Right now, we are attacking a single individual instead of questioning the entire practice. If we need a long term solution, we need to move away from hate towards one individual and think deeper. Elese, this will just be another Kanda and will soon be forgotten.”

If you ask me, it is just another Kanda and there is nothing to be done.

A Mero Hajur 3 song – Cheat Day

The third song of upcoming Jharana Thapa’s movie ‘A Mero Hajur 3’ has been released. The song titled ‘Cheat Day’ features Jharana’s daughter Suhana Thapa. The song is filmed on the voice of Prabisha Adhiakri and music of Pratik Poudel. The choreographer is Rahun Shah.

The parents of Suhana, the actress had done a detailed preparation for her debut in the film industry. Suhana, it seems, has also done a lot of preparation before she decided to be an actress. The song shows it all. In addition, Anmol’s presence is bound to attract more viewers to the theatre.

The movie is going to release in theatre on Chaitra 29. The movie is about a die-hard fan of a celebrity singer. The celebrity is Anmol KC and the fan is the actress Suhana. The love story between the two is the story of the movie. The story is written by the mother, Jharana, and she has also directed the film.

Bullying at Miss Nepal 2019 audition? Ashmita Maharjan actually got selected

When Ashmita Maharjan showed up without wearing any makeup and wearing her -5 powered glasses one of the judges, Rachana Sharma Gurung, got mad at her. She told, “.. This is disrespect.”

But, the courage of Ashmita, a 7th semester Computer engineering student was appreciated and she was selected to participate in the Miss Nepal 2019 contest. She is the official contestant number 8. There is a chance that she will represent Nepal in the international arena. By the courage and her presentation, and education, there is a high chance that she will be one of the five candidates who will represent Nepal in the international arena.

When they signed up in this film, there was an expectation that they will get together while working in the film. But, that didn’t seem to be happening.

New Film – American Babu Made in Nepal

While films are not able to make money in theatre, a new Nepali film has been released in YouTube directly. The movie titled ‘American Babu Made in Nepal’ was released in YouTube by the producer Ishwar Thapa. The film was shown in theatres in USA and Canada. After 80 percent of the investment was recovered, the movie is released in the video hosting website.

The movie features actress Nandita KC in main role. Other artists include Babu Bogati, Smriti Pokharel, Rajesh Gurung, Ahashan Dhakal, Anjali Lama and others.

The movie is made on the story of the characters living in the USA. The movie is made by Dreams Gate Films banner.

This is a latest announcement of actress Paramita RL Rana – the daughter of one of the fist generation models of Nepal and grand daughter of one of the first generation female golfers of Nepal. Actress Pramita debuted in the Nepali film industry in the sequel of ‘Chapali Height’, with Ayushman Desraj Joshi. Ayushman and Paramita were dating at that time. The sequel however didn’t do well in box office. Paramita was also featured in ‘Changa Chait’ released last year.

Samragyee RL Shah overtook Jassita Gurung to sign in Rato Tika Nidharma

The producer of upcoming Dashain movie ‘Rato Tika Nidharma’, Ashok Sharma, had approached Jassita Gurung for the role. The actress of ‘Lily Bily’ and ‘Love Station’ demanded Rs. 10 lakh for the role. While bargaining for the price, the team has signed in Samragyee RL Shah for the role. In a report, Samragyee was paid higher amount, Rs. 16 lakh for the role.

One of the most popular actress in the Nepali film industry, Samragyee is also one of the busiest actress currently. Samragyee was shooting Nawal Nepal’s ‘Maruni’. In the mean-time she has also signed in ‘Subha Biwaha’ of Hemraj BC. In the movie, Samragyee will romance with Pradeep Khadka. The shooting of the movie however has delayed a while.
