Is Bollywood star Govinda’s wife, Sunita, a Nepali?

In the LG Cine Circle Film Award 2018, held in Kathmandu, Bollywood star Govinda was the main attraction. He was called ‘Jwai’ by the organizer and he also claimed, his first love “was a Nepali girl.” He told that his wife Sunita is a Nepali. But, is that true?

At the airport, when Govinda landed in Kathmandu, journalists asked Govinda if he knew Nepali. He told, he couldn’t speak it but he understands the language. Govinda was accompanied by his daughter Tina Ahuja (Narmada Ahuja). She told she knows Nepali a little. But, she was comfortable speaking in Hindi. I named her ‘Rastriya Bhanji’ and made a video report:

Rastriya Bhanji of Nepal, Tina Aujha, Govinda Daughter, Bollywood Actress speaks Nepali

The main question – Is Sunita a Nepali Citizen?

A short answer to the question is ‘No’.

LG Award for the Flop Films and Flop actors

Bollywood actor Govinda was the main attraction, the Deputy President, Nanda Bahadur Pun, was the chief guest. The award ceremony was well organized. But, all the awards were distributed to flop films. The awards were distributed in such a manner that only the winners were invited in the program. Those who participated in the award ceremony were sure to get one of the awards.

Best Film – wasn’t best film at all
The best film of the year was ‘Timi Sanga’. That film was nowhere near best. People didn’t watch the film. It also got the Best Screenplay award too. It also got the Best Actor award. By the business the film did, it should have won the “Worst Film of the Year”.

Best Actor Award
Nazir Hussain for his role in ‘Timi Sanga’. Nazir wasn’t the lead actor of the movie. The lead actor was Akash Shrestha. Nazir was supporting actor. He should have won “Best Supporting Actor”, if any. The movie was one of the flop film of the year. The third film of actress Samragyee RL Shah, ‘Timi Sanga’

Bhuwan KC and Sushmita had promised not to marry again, Bhuwan kept it, Sushmita broke it!

Although it is a personal choice of an individual whether to get married or not – we are still plagued with the male-dominated social feeling. When Bhuwan KC married the second time and is living with a third woman, it was considered a “normal”. The same thing by Sushmita is tagged ‘not-so-normal’ by the society.

After the divorce, Bhuwan KC and Sushmita KC had realized that the marriage-institution was ridiculous and promised not to marry again. That is the reason Bhuwan is delaying marrying Jiya KC. It seems, Jiya and Bhuwan have reached to an agreement to stay together without marrying.

In an interview last year, Sushmita had also told the same thing. But, there was a rumour of her marriage 4 years ago – with an Indian businessman (not sure if it was the same person she got engaged on September 9). It seems, Sushmita still wants the comfort of being married.

A report I made a while ago about Bhuwan KC’s “unmarried wife”. At that time, I was wondering why Bhuwan won’t even accept Jiya as his girlfriend. Now, it seems, he doesn’t want to give a name to the relationship.

Anmol’s mother, Sushmita KC marrying an Australian businessman

There was a popular song of the past by Kumar Basnet:

“Chori Bhandaa Aama Taruni, Lipsitck powder le…”

The songs says that the mother looks younger than her daughter by the use of makeup. According to the latest news, the song needs to be modified a little bit:

“Chora Bhandaa Aama Taruni…”

That is because, the mother of the superstar of the Nepali film industry, Anmol KC, is getting married. Sushmita got engaged to Fiji born, Australian businessman Killan Swami on September 9, 2018 in an event held in Singapore. They are going to get married on the Valentine Day of 2019.

More details on the marriage is yet to come. There was a rumour about the relationship with an Indian businessman in 2014. It seems, she has taken more than four years to formally accept the marriage proposal of her boyfriend.

At the time when Bhuwan KC is openly courting Jiya KC and are reportedly living together in Bhuwan’s home, Sushmita’s marriage makes sense.

Swastima Khadka drives Tempo in Bulbul, like Rekha Thapa did in Ram Pyari

Actress Swastima Khadka is featured in the role of a driver in her upcoming movie ‘Bulbul’. Because of the shooting schedule of the movie and the time she had to dedicate to learn driving tempo in the streets of Kathamndu, Swastama didn’t participate in the promotion of her movie like ‘Nai Nabhannu La 5’, ‘Jaya Bhole’ and ‘Chhakka Panja 3’.

Now, the shooting of the film is complete. According to the director of the film Binod Poudel, the only remaining part is a song of the film.

It is not the first time an actress is featured as a tempo driver in a movie. Actress Rekha Thapa was featured as a tempo driver based on a real-life character in her movie ‘Ram Pyari’. (Watch the film ‘Rampyari’ here). The movie was a failure.

Biography of Karishma Manandhar, an uneducated actress who dreamt to do a PhD!

In the past, when you call Karishma Manandhar an “uneducated actress”, she would respond in anger. Now, the situation has changed. She accepts, she is uneducated and she is doing all she can to change that. She had lived her whole life being tagged “uneducated”.

But, Karishma had always taken the accusation a challenge. A 6th grade passed actress (she was in grade 7 when she stared acting). She never appeared in grade 7 exam. In the Nepali education system, where English language teaching starts at grade 4, Karishma had only studied English for 2 years. The same Karishma went to the USA, studied English language and wrote articles in her personal blog (it is sad, I didn’t save her blog posts at that time. I couldn’t find any saved archives of her blog yet.) When I read her posts at that time, she seemed to be well in command of the language. She passed the English language test to get the Green Card. It is another story that, she might have relinquished the card now.

Karishma Manandhar is a history in herself. She has faced the struggle nobody else in the Nepali film industry might have faced. She is a fighter who knows how to take the right step and succeed in what she does.

Nepali Songs by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, well known Indian singer

Dil hoom hoom kare, ghabraaye …
Ghan dham dham kare, darr jaaye
Ek boond kabhi paani ki mori ankhiyon se barsaaye …

I had listened this song and loved the music even before I knew it was sung by a well known Indian singer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Lata Magneskar. I didn’t know it was originally sung in Assamese language.

And there was an Indian version of ‘Ol’ Man River’

Oh Ganga Tum
Oh Ganga Tum Bahatiho kyu?

The people of Nepali origin in Darjeeling, India used the song and translated into a Nepali and Bengali version as a part of a protest against government suppression during Gorkhaland movement.

Oh Tista timi
Oh Tista timi bagachhau kina …

Then I heard a couple of songs in Nepali language by Bhupen Hazarika himself. I didn’t know he was no long alive until I decided to make the following video report of the singer:

On Saturday, September 8, 2018 it was 92th birth anniversary of the singer. I tried finishing the video by the end of the day. But, by the time I finished, it was already 9th (at 1AM). Anyway, it is good to know the talented singer has given voice to some beautiful Nepali songs.
