Rejina Upreti showed 'Udreko Choli' in UK

Actress Rejina Upreti was invited as a guest in a Dashain program organized by Srijansil Leicester Nepal, UK to exchange best wishes among the Nepali people living in the city. The program was held in Everest Dine restaurant, located at the main center of Leicester.

In the program, Rejina danced in a Kunti Moktan song, "Laliguras Ajambari …" song. She also danced in the item song of ‘Loot‘, "Udreko Choli Chha hai…" The participants had

Nepali musical album 'Abroad' unveiled by Rajesh Hamal in USA

A musical album ‘Abroad’ was released in Phoenix, Arizona USA by popular singer Karna Das, superstar of Nepali movie industry and Rajesh Thapa on October 20, 2012. The songs in the album are written and composed by Deepak Dasnami.

A presentation of Kripa Drishya Digital, ‘Abroad’ featured artists including Raja Rajendra Pokhrel, Yojana Puri, tara Limbu and Min Gurung.

RIP Yash Chopra

The legendary producer, director and script writer of Hindi movies, Yash Chopra has died on Sunday in Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai. The death was a shocking news as he had recently celebrated his 80th birthday in full vigor. He was diagnosed with Dengue and was admitted to the hospital on October 13, 2012.

Yash is considered one of the most successful filmmaker in Bollywood. He had won six National Film Awards, eleven Filmfare awards, Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and Padma Bhushan Award in 2005. Although he had worked as assistant director previously, he debuted as a director in 1959 with a
Hindi movie ‘Dhool Ka Phool’. The movie was successful and his next movie ‘Dharmaputra’ released in 1961, was also very successful, establishing him in the industry. Yash started producing movies through his production company, Yash Raj Films, in 1973.

In an upcoming movie ‘Kollywood’ Miss Nepal 2011, Malina Joshi, is being featured as a hot item girl. Miss Global Beauty Queen is Malvika Thakur

Miss Global Beauty Queen beauty contest was held in Kathmandu on October 17, 2012. Out of the 27 contestants Malvika Thakur was selected to crown the Miss Global Beauty Queen 2012 title. Sujina Bajracharya was awarded the first runner-up title and Divyata Baidya was selected the second runner-up.

In addition to the crown, the title winner Malvika Thakur has received a scooter and cash prize of Rs. 25,000. The first runner-up Sujina received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 an
d the second runner-up Divyata received Rs 10,000.

4 new movies released today for Dashain holidays

To cash the festive mood during the biggest Nepali festival and the longest public holidays, film makers have released four new movies on Friday, October 19. The movies released today include ‘Dhunwaa Yo Nasha’, ‘Ke Ma Timro Saathi Banna Sakchhu’, ‘So Simple’ and ‘Loot Company’.

Out of the four, two are releasing in theaters all over Nepal and two,  ‘Dhuwaa Yo Nasha’ and ‘So Simple’ are releasing in only the theaters out of Kathmandu. Both of them will be featured in Kathmandu theaters next week on October 26.

Junior Princess 2012 is Sadiksha Satyal and Junior Prince 2012 is Aman Khan

In a beauty contest among children aged between 9 and 14 years, held in Kathmandu on October 15, 2012, Sadiksha Satyal was crowned the Junior Princess 2012. In the event titled Junior Prince & Princess Beauty Pageant, Aman Khan was selected the Junior Prince 2012. The first runner up of the contest was Diya Magar  and Asmi Dhungana was crowned the 2nd runnerup.

First look of 'Chadke' released

The producers of superhit movie ‘Loot‘ Madhav Wagle and Narendra Maharjan have organized a press meet to release the first look of their upcoming movie ‘Chadke’. The promotion video and the posters of the movie was releases in the event.

‘Chadke’ is planned to be released in the first week of February 2013. The story of the movie made on a story of gangster is written and directed by Nigam Shrestha. He told that he has left no stone unturned to make the movie interesting.

Happy Vijaya Dashami 2069

The biggest festival of Nepal, Dashain festival has started from Tuesday October 16, 2012 and it will run till October 29. The government offices close from Saturday October 20 and open on October 25. They will again close of the last day of Dashain, October 29.

The first day is marked by sowing seed for ‘Jamara’, young plants of corn or barley to be worn on the tenth day of Dashain, Vijaya Dashami on October 24.

Miss Pink and First South Asia Gay Sport tournament organized in Nepal

A gay rights group in Nepal, Blue Diamond Society, has organized the first South Asia Gay Sport tournament in Kathmandu. With more than 300 gay, bisexual and transgender athletes from 30 different countries participated in the sports tournament. The sports event started on October 12 and concluded on October 14, 2012 with various sports events including kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and Karate.

In addition to sports event, Miss Pink Nepal beauty contest was also held in the capital. In the contest with 14 participants, Purnim
a won the Miss Pink Nepal 2012 crown and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. Purnima will represent Nepal in the Miss Pink 2013 beauty contest to be held in Thailand. The president of Blue Diamond Society, Sunil Babu Pant crowned the winner of the beauty contest. (credit –badmasi)

Rejina Upreti to romance in London during Dashain

Nepali actress Rejina Upreti is planning to go to London to celebrate Dashain. Usually Nepali in foreign countries return back to Nepal on the biggest Nepali festival, but this beautiful actress is planning the opposite – leaving Nepal to celebrate Dashain. In London, in addition to meeting her boyfriend Suraj Pokharel, she will also premier her upcoming movie ‘Bardan’ for the Nepali viewers living in London.

Kollywood – A movie based on the struggle of Nepali movie artists

The movie being directed by Navaraj Acharya, ‘Kollywood’ is in it’s last stage of shooting. The movie named after the Nepali movie industry is made on the story of struggling artists in the industry.

‘Kollywood’ features actors like Aryan Sigdel, Priyanaka Karki, Payal Thapa, Bishnu Karki, Subrat Acharya and the director Navaraj Acharya in main roles. The movie is produced by Kumar Khadka and written by Brajesh Khanal. It features the cinematography of Hari Humag
ain, music of Pradeep Bastola, fight direction of Asta Maharjan and choreography of Renisha Rai.

'Mutu' premiered in USA

Nepali movie ‘Mutu’ was premiered in Dallas, Texas on October 6, 2012 Saturday in Funasia theater. The world premier ceremony of the movie attracted a lot of Nepali resident in Dallas. Out of the fund raised from the show, one fifth of the fund was donated to and organization working for less privileged women and children, Devi Sahara Foundation, Nepal.

The Nepali viewers had a mixed response with many appreciating the movie. For the benefit of viewers who can’t understand Nepali language, English sub-titles were also added in the movie.
