The technology student Astha has been appointed as the National Green Ambassador for Kathmandu Jaycees (KJC) and was also declared Miss Personality in the contest organized by KJC at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi.
The answer that helps Astha to win the title was “We need to rise and fight and make Nepal a symbol of peace and prosperityâ€.
Paridhi Sharma, 17, from Shantinagar, Kathmandu was declared the first runner-up, while Shristi Saud, 18 from Baneshwar became the second runner-up. Paridhi also won the Miss Talent and Miss Popular titles. She bagged the talent award for her rendition of Phoolko Ankhama, a song by Ani Choying Drolma.
Girls of age between 16 to 19 were participants of the contest, which is in its 10th year.
The judges were Pradeep Man Vaidya, CEO of Century Bank, Narayan Puri, CEO of Himalayan Television, Akhil Chapagain, president of Nepal-Turkey Chamber of Commerce, Miss Nepal 2011 Malina Joshi and Lily Thapa, associate professor of Tribhuwan University and founder president of Women for Human Rights.

Nepali beauty Samriddhi Rai who represented Nepal in the Miss Tourism Queen International 2011 held in China, was successful in winning a Miss Personality title.
Although, it might not be a greatest feat for others, for Nepal it is no less than winning the contest title. That is because, in most of the contests Nepali models participate, they don’t win anything and none have won a contest title till date. So, we should congratulate Samriddhi for making us proud by bringing in something.

Pradip Raj Onta, President of Season Media said that Anusha will be appointed in any airlines as air hostess.
Tulasa Singh Thakuri, 18, of Butwal, became first runner up and Lata Tilija, 19, of Pokhara became second runner up. Tulasa also won “Best Smile†title and Lata “Best Personality†title. First runner up received Rs 20,000 cash prize and second runner up received Rs 15,000 cash prize.
Along with cash prize, all top 3 winners of the beauty contest received scholarship of one year for bachelor degree in South Western State College, Basundhara.

The investment in Nepali movies is very insecure and nobody knows how the viewers perceive new movies. It becomes scary when the story and the content is not strong enough. In such situations, Nepali film makers go in the refuge of astrologers.
This time, an established producer and actor in Nepali movie, Bhuwan KC went to an astrologer who told him to rename himself to which the actor gladly agreed and added an extra ‘n’ at the end of his name. This shows how insecure our producers are; they can even change their name to make a movie a success. In Bhuwan’s upcoming movie he will be named Bhuwann KC instead of Bhuwan KC. And, the title of the movie will also have the phrase Bhuwann KC ‘s Sathi Ma Timro in it’s posters and promo materials.

Former Miss Venezuela had lost the battle against breast cancer and died at a young age of 28 on December 17, 2011. The Miss Venezuela 2000 was being treated in a Houston, Texas hospital where she died leaving behind a daughter.

An actress, Harshika Shrestha, lost her suitcase in a car while going to Chobhar for the shooting of a music video. One of the National dailies in Nepal, Nagarik published a detailed news about the loss.
The taxi driver Surya Bahadur Shrestha knew the owner of the suitcase after reading the newspaper. After receiving the suitcase that contained dresses and ornaments worth about Rs. 70,000, Harshika is very happy and grateful by the honesty of the taxi driver.
Supposed to be secured, the MRPs (Machine Readable Passport) are the new requirements for travel. But, crooks in Nepal have managed to create fake MRPs.
Nepal Government was shocked when the Nepali Embassy of Kuwait sent two suspicious passports for the government to investigate. Passports of Anju Neupane of Kaski (no. 07467100) and Mahima Dewan of Bara (No. 05467191) proved to be fakes.
Although they mention the issue date of 10 May and 9 Feb, the passport number of Anju was never issued and that of Mahima was issued to another person.
Such fake passports create unnecessary suspicions and hassle on genuine t
ravellers.

Forceful closing of streets and business is a serious violation of human rights. Nepal is currently being forced such a day-long bandha, called by Nepali Congress. One of it’s top leaders Ramchandra Poudel’s mother died and he was stopped to drive by the bandh called by himself. If he were a true leader he should have obeyed the bandha and waited till tomorrow to go to his home. But, he choose to ask the police force to escort him to his home in Chitwan to perform the last rites of his mother.
Nepali Congress is the opposition party of the current government, but it has acted like a little kid by going the street to protest the death of one of it’s members.

A warning notice posted near the Bishnumati Bridge in Balaju, Kathmandu reads:
If anybody is found throwing garbage around this Bishnumati Bridge, out people volunteers will charge Rs. 5000 fine and slap 2 times.
Doesn’t the rule sound like a "Jungle Rule"? No civil society allows "local youth" to punish anybody. Punishing is the job of law enforcement officers or the police officers. Nobody else can punish anybody – that too physically.
Nobody can deny the fact that the person who
litters a public place should be punished, but physical punishment is inhuman.
