6 movies to release on the year end, filmmaking yet to start

Nepali movie industry is a very strange type of industry. In our film industry, most of the business logics fail economic has the least effect on film making. Because of the lack of professionalism in the industry, personal ego and social status are considered more important than the economic viability of the movie. The announcement of 6 movies on the same day, at the end of the year, can considered one of such examples.

On the last Friday of the year 2072 BS, on Chaitra 26 (April 8, 2016), six different movie makers have announced the release date of their movies. It is interesting that five out of the six movies are yet to go to the floor yet. The movies are:

Bikash Acharya movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La 4’
Chhabi Raj Ojha movie ‘Kismat 2’
Arjun Kumar movie ‘Chapali Height 2’
Govinda Shahi movie ‘Kaha Chau Kaha 2’
Rekha Thapa movie ‘Rampyari’
Gopal Kayastha movie ‘Lootera’

Out of these movies, only the movie ‘Lootera’ has completed its shooting. The movie featuring Nikhil Upreti was previously announced to be released in Tihar but now the release date has been delayed by 5 months. The crew and artists of some of the movies are yet to be determined.

The Nepali movie ‘Badhyata’ is a presentation of Janatarang Multimedia. The movie is made on the story of the Maoist civil war in Nepal. The musical movie was produced to motivate people to support and get involved in the war.

Anuj Shrestha is the child artist of the movie. The lyrics and the script is written by the director Mohan Ghising, music by Ashok Rai, Kundan Rai and Mohan Ghising. Choreography by Palden Yonjan.

Friday Release – Sapana Timro Mero

On August 7, 2015 new movie by director Rishi Raj Acharya, ‘Sapana Timro Mero’ was released in theaters in Nepal. The movie made on action and love story is the second movie of the ‘Mistake’ director (watch ‘Mistake’ here).

‘Sapana Timro Mero’ features cinematography of Rahul Rai, choreography of Ghambir Bista, action by Samrat Basnet and editing of Nabin Niraula. The movie spans for about 2.5 hours. The movie is made on a triangular love story between the characters played by actor Sushant Karki with actresses Janwi Bohara and actress Surajani KC. Actor Sabin Shrestha is also featured in a special role in the movie.

Aryan Sigdel celebrates his birthday with Classic team and at TV Filmy

On the occasion of actor Aryan Sigdel’s birthday, TV Filmy had organized a birthday celebration program. In the program actor Aryan Sigdel celebrated his birthday with fellow artists Jiwan Luitel, Dayahang Rai and others.

On Shrawan 20, the birthday party was a surprise party for Aryan. On the party, Aryan told that his wife Sapana Bhandari had surprised him at mid-night by asking him to cut his birthday cake.

Aryan, Jiwan and Dayahang were together in the movie ‘Mero Euta Sathi Chha’. In the movie Aryan was featured in the leading role and Jiwan and Dayahang were in short roles.

This movie is different from the comedy tele-film of MaHa by the same name (watch MaHa Pathshala here).

Namrata Shrestha clarifies the rumor

In a long message posted by actress Namrata Shrestha in her Facebook account, she has asked her fans not to believe in baseless rumors.

Various online blogs and click-farms have been spreading baseless rumors creating a crisis of trust of the online media. Namrata’s rumor about the Communication Minister Minendra Rijal asking her a indecent favor for National Award is one of the latest such rumor.

Nepali movie ‘Mistake’ is a new movie released earlier this year. Charity shows of the movie were also held in Singapore and Malaysia a while ago for the earthquake victim relief.

‘Mistake is a presentation of RB Movies. The movie features music of Arjun Pokharel, cinematograph by Rahul Rai, editing by Bipin Malla, choreography by Gambhir Bista / Kabiraj Gahatraj, and action by Samrat Basnet. The child artists in the movie are Ritu Acharya and Sankalpa Siwakoti.

Dilip Rayamajhi, Sagun Shahi and Sujana Dhakal to be featured in Nalapani

Actor Dilip Rayamajhi is told to be returning back to Nepal from the USA to act in upcoming movie ‘Nalapani’. The movie is scheduled to start the shooting on September 9 (Bhadra 23). Dilip had recently headed to the USA after receiving the permanent resident status, Green Card. Although there are rumors that he won’t return back to Nepal, he has insisted that he would continue to act in Nepali movies.

In addition to Dilip, actress Sagun Shahi and actress Suzana Dhakal are going to be featured in a historical. The movie to be made on the war of Nalapani against British colonial power has been one of the bravest war Nepali had fought in the history. The movie written and directed by Shivam Adhimari is being produced by Rimesh Adhikari under Padma Kumari Films banner.

After Bhuwan KC, his ex-wife Sushmita to debut as a director

Actress Sushma KC (Bomjom) has decided to jump into direction. The timing of the announcement has come right after her ex-husband and the father of her son Anmol KC, actor and producer, Bhuwan KC has started directing his debut movie. There are rumors that Sushmita wants to challenge Bhuwan by showing that she can also direct movies.

In response to the rumor, Sushmita has written a lengthy message in her Facebook profile explaining that she has no intention of competing with Bhuwan KC. In addition to being the father of her son, she has also told that she respect Bhuwan as her acting and movie making teacher. Full message is attached below.

Top 5 nominations, NEFTA Award 2015 (full list)

The nomination of the top 5 in the NEFTA Awards was announced in a press meet held in Kathmandu. The nominations selected by a 6-members jury has released the nominations of 35 different categories.

Like the previous a couple of editions of the award ceremonies, 2015 edition will also be held in a foreign country. The ceremony is going to be held in association with the International Artist Forum, Qatar. Previously the award ceremonies were held in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Child artists are Mela Baskota, Raman Shrestha and Nabaraj. In addition to acting, Ramesh Budhathoki is also the chief assistant director in the movie. The movie is made on the story of Krishna Malla, script/dialogue of Brajesh Khanal, with additional help of Gagan Birahi and Laya Sangraula in dialogue. The film’s editing is done by Deepak Patel, choreography by Basanta Shrestha, lyrics by Gagan Birahi, music by Sambhujit Baskota, cinematography by Manju Kumar Shrestha. The movie is jointly produced by Gagan Shrestha, Hari Maharjan and Ballav Maharjan.

The Nepali movie ‘Tathastu’ featuring actress Rekha with Kishor was highly publicized as a female centric movie. The movie by Kites entertainment was rated ‘U’ by the Censor Board of Nepal and was released on January 9, 2015. The movie was one of the commercial successes of the year 2071.
