5 milestones of Chhabi Raj Ojha as a Nepali movie producer was first published on Feb 9, 2014. I have re-written the post and updated with one more milestone added at the end. So, it has now become “6 milestones of Chhabi Raj Ojha”.

In 2040 BS Chhabi Raj Ojha started the distribution of Hindi movie. Originally from Dharan, Chhabi moved to Kathmandu to start film distribution. The first Nepali movie he distributed was ‘Bhagya Rekha’ – a movie produced by Chiranjivi Basnet and directed by Deepak Rayamajhi. At that time, he had also gone to Madras for the post production of the movie. Although the movie wasn’t successful commercially, it taught Chhabi the film business. The failure of ‘Bhagyarekha’ prompted Chhabi to find out the reason the movie wasn’t successful. After analysis of the cause and the solution, Chhabi proposed a new concept to the director Deepak Rayamajhi and he also promised to finance the movie.

Milestone 1 -Yug Dekhi Yug Samma

The movie ‘Yug Dekha Yug Samma’ marks the debut of Chhabi as a producer. The movie was also the debut movie of and action director Rajendra Khadgi. All three new faces in the film industry – Chhabi Raj Ojha, Rajesh Hamal and Rajendra Khadgi made it big in the Nepali movie industry.

Usha Poudel marries Sudhanshu Joshi in USA (Video)

Yes, the rumour report I shared in October about the affair between Usha Poudel and Sudhanshu Joshi has been proven right – Usha and Sudhanshu have married on November 24, 2016. In a private marriage ceremony held in Virginia, USA, a Nepali priest conducted the rituals.

Last month, they had told that they didn’t have immediate marriage plan although the reports also specify the November 24 marriage. I have no idea whey they had to lie at that time as the marriage plan was all set and preparation was going on. Actress Richa Ghimire and her husband director Shankar Ghimire were some of the most active freiends helping in the marriage ceremony.

Sad story of Kanchan Sharma Regmi, Karishma Manandhar offers sympathy (video update)

UPDATE: Sagar Regmi, the son of Kanchan Sharma Regmi told that the mother had left them not the other way around.

An interview was telecasted on Kantipur TV a few days ago. The guest to ‘Suman Sanga’ a program run by Suman Kharel, a noted BBC Nepali Sewa journalist, was an unknown woman Kanchan Sharma Regmi. Because of the extremely sad story of her life, Kanchan became an overnight celebrity. She told that she was kicked out by her husband and two grown up sons to the street. She told that she lived in the street for 7 years until a social worker found her and gave a shelter.

The story was painful to many. Actress Karishma Manandhar was so troubled by the story that she woke up at the night and shared her thoughts in Facebook (attached).

Shilpa Pokharel threw a surprise birthday party, Chhabi turns 52

One of the most successful film producer of the Nepali movie industry, Chhabi Raj Ojha has turned 52 years old on November 22, 2016. To celebrate his birthday, actress Shilpa Pokharel threw a surprise celebration party. It was a very small and private party with only 4-5 people.

Telling about the party Shilpa wrote, “Surprise birthday celebration. Happy birthday to dear Chhabi ji (Baa). Many happy returns of the day.” Shilpa’s excitement can be felt in the way she has written the message. She has repeated “birthday” four times in a 20+ words long message.

Chhabi introduced Shilpa in ‘Lazza’. Shilpa was signed in ‘Kismat 2’ even before the completion of her first movie ‘Lazza’. But ,before ‘Kismat 2’ production started, she was featured in ‘Hawaldar Suntali’. At the time of the release of the first movie ‘Lazza’ they fabricated a news about Chhabi marrying Shilpa. In the interviews after the movie, they admitted that they had lied about the marriage for the promotion of the movie.

Shilpa had once told, “People had come to the theatre just to see Chhabi’s girlfriend.”

Heart touching love story of Hari Bamsha towards his wife Ramila

It has been about four and a half years since Hari Bamsha Acharya and Ramila Pathak have married. Both Hari Bamsha Acharya and Ramila’s life partners had died before. It has been 15 years since Ramila’s previous husband had died of brain haemorrhage. Hari Bamsha’s previous wife, Meera Acharya had died in 2011.

The novel is told to be in its final stage of publishing.

Rejina Upreti has become the newest mother in Nepali film industry

Actress Rejina Upreti has given birth to a daughter on the evening of November 21, 2016. The child was born by a c-section surgery. Both the child and mother are told to be healthy and recovering. The newborn was born at 7:12 PM and weighted 3.35 kg at birth.

Actress Rejina Upreti was an actress and a producer of a movie ‘Bardaan’. The production however became a disaster. Her production partner lodged a complaint against Rejina (read details in nepaliactress). They later patched up.

Jharana Thapa goes on a vacation at an odd time

Actress Jharana Thapa has gone in a USA vacation with her family at an odd time – right after the completion of the shooting of her debut movie as a director. There is only 4 months before the movie’s scheduled release on March 31, 2017. Although the shooting has finished, there is a lot of work in terms of editing and compiling the whole film. Promotional aspect is another time consuming and important aspect of the movie business. Jharana Thapa is both the producer and the director of  ‘A Mero Hajru 2’.

Being a debut movie, being both the producer and the director of the movie and going in vacation a few months before the release of the movie doesn’t make sense to me. I think, it is odd time because:

  • A director is the caption of the ship – involved in every stage of a film production. The directors have a very important role in the editing and dubbing part of the movie.
  • Jharana and her husband Sunil Kumar Thapa are also the producer of the movie. I think it is odd timing to leave the country at this time.

Another new actress has debuted this year in Nepali movie industry. The new actress is Deepika Prasai, debuting in upcoming movie ‘Aishwarya’. The movie ‘Aishwarya’ is produced by the well known actor of Nepali movie industry, Ramesh Upreti.

The shooting of ‘Aishwarya’ is going on in various locations in Kathmandu. Originally a model, the actress is also being featured in a character of a model in the movie.

When you look at the life of Deepak Raj Giri, it was nothing to laugh at. A comedy actor, Deepak, went through a very tough time while growing up. Some of the depressing moments of Deepak’s life:

  • Mother died when he was 4. As a kid, Deepak didn’t know what mother’s love is.
  • Failed SLC twice. The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam is considered the iron gate of our life. Being not able to pass the basic school exam is considered a total failure in Nepali context.
  • Marriage aged 18. Having a responsibility of a wife at an young age is an added responsibility.
  • Ran away from police training. He was about to become a police officer. But, the training proved to be too tough and he had to run away before the completion of the training.
  • Kicked out of home – When he couldn’t get into job and won’t earn a living, his father decided to teach him the life lesson and asked him take his family and live on his own.
  • The movie featuring Deepak Raj Giri in leading role, ‘Sundar Mero Nam’ flopped.

Shristi Shrestha and Saugat Malla spotted together at Rara Lake (Exclusive)

It is no secret that Saugat Malla (Haku Kale) and Miss Nepal 2012 Shristi Shrestha are seeing each other. A while ago, Saugat Malla had also gone to the police to complain about the model, Soni KC, who had threatened to harm Shristi for stealing Saugat from her. The incident might have strengthened the bond between Saugat and Shristi. The proof was seen at the beautiful location in Mugu – Rara Lake.

In an exclusive report, Saugat Malla and Shristi Shrestha were spotted in Rara lake. They were living in Danfe Lodge for four days. After returning back from the trip, Shristi wrote in her instagram post, “Thank you Mugu for the most needed break. It has been absolutely rejuvenating.”

According to the source in Rara, they were trying to keep themselves away from the general public. While Shristi Shrestha was always seen wearing cap and a mask to hide her face, Saugat Malla had also done his best to hide himself in his cap. In Danfe lodge, Shristi and Saugat had rented the room overlooking the lake and lived mostly inside the room. They usually order the food in their room so, they didn’t event have to get out of the room for eating.

Another film offer to #TarkariWali Kusum Shrestha, featured in KTV and NTV

The 18-year-old girl from Gorkha, popularly known as TarkariWali after her photos went viral online, is being offered another movie. The producer of ‘Jung Bahadur Ko Coat’ has made an offer to Kusum Shrestha a day before the release of the movie in theatre. The producer, Yogendra Khadka has told that his upcoming project has a character of a down-to-the-earth village girl, suitable for Kusum.

A few days ago another producer/director had offered Kusum a role in his movie ‘Lamfu’. The movie ‘Lamfu’ was announced in 2013 but the production didn’t start in the last three years.

In the meanwhile, Kusum is busy talking with journalist. Although she is not that good in talking, she was featured in separate interviews in NTV and Kantipur Television. Talking to the Kantipur journalist, Suman Kharel, Kusum also sang a song. While watching the interview, Kharel did most of the talking and Kusum filled the blanks.

Nepali celebrities reaction to Trump Win in US election

USA election doesn’t have much impact to Nepal. But, we are politically so much conscious that every geo-political situation all over the world interests us.

Some Nepali celebrities however are US citizens. Nepali celebrities don’t prefer to reveal the fact about their US citizenship because of the the lack of dual-citizenship provision in Nepal. The celebrities like Saroj Khanal, Suryamala Sharma, Premraja Mahat, Kristi Mainali, Sudhanshu Joshi, Sapana Shree, Harish Mathema, and Krishna Murari Dhungel are said to be US citizens.

  • Actress Priyanka Karki wasn’t happy by Trump’s victory. She had written “Madam president”, in the morning and then she wrote, “… and the world is doomed!”
  • Richa Sharma wrote “Congratulation to the winner.”
  • Hari Bamsha Acharya’s son Mohit Bamsha asked, “How many of you are immigrating to Cananda?”
  • Ruby Shah‘s comment was satirical – “Yaha deshko chha chinta, timi US-US bhanchchu.” (Meaning I am worried about my country and you are talking about USA).
  • Malina Joshi wrote – #Godblessamerica, sharing The Independent article about Trump’s win.
  • Nirmal Sharma (Gaida) congratulated Trump. He has written, “Don’t be like us. Let them go who wants to go to the USA. Let them stay, if they want to stay there. Don’t discontinue DV. Don’t fight and do your work.” (will attach in a while)
  • Deepak Raj Giri (will attach)
  • Singer Astha Raut has written a long post starting with , “I am feeling sorry for America…”
  • Ex-Miss Nepal Shweta Singh wrote, “Victory of the blunt… Donald Trump .. Donald Trump.”
  • Ex-Miss Nepal Malvika Subba wrote, “While America is all red, now who is planning to come back to Nepal?”
  • Rekha Thapa hasn’t responded after the election result. Before the result, she had written that she ‘loves Hillary’.

Surprising coincidence in Samragyee’s movies, Bhuwan KC, Jharana Thapa and Shishir Rana

Samragyee RL Shah has recently signed her third movie. The ‘Dreams’ debut actress, Samragyee signed in Jharana Thapa’s movie ‘A Mero Hajur 2’ and before the completion of the movie, she has signed her third movie ‘Timi Sanga’. I found a coincidence in all three movies – can you find what it is from the following list:

  • 1st Movie – Dreams – produced and directed by Bhuwan KC
  • 2nd Movie – A Mero Hajur 2 – produced and directed by Jharna Thapa
  • 3rd Movie – Timi Sanga – produced and directed by Shishir Rana

Yes, the producers of all of her movies are also the directors of the movie. That is a nice coincidence. But, that is not all. All these movies are the first movies of all of them.
