Rekha Thapa honored at Bal Jagriti College – Donated Rs. 50K to disabled students

Actress Rekha Thapa is currently in Far Western region of Nepal for the social works under Rekha Thapa Foundation. On Sunday, Rekha was honored at Bal Jagirti College in Mahendranagar. In the college she raised the National flag of Nepal and lighted candle to inaugurate the program.

During the event Rekha Thapa donated Rs. 50,000 on behalf of Rekha Thapa Foundation to support disabled students in the college. The 10+2 college educates a number of disabled students.

Jiwan Luitel became the father to a son

Actor Jiwan Luitel‘s wife Anjali gave birth to a son at around 11:15 PM on December 14, 2013. The birth occurred one months earlier that the earlier scheduled date. The health of both the mother and the child are said to be normal. The child born underweight because of early delivery is being kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He is expected to remain in hospital for about a week.

The couple, Jiwan and Anjali, had married 6-years ago. They waited for six years to devote their time to their career. Jiwan says, "Now, we have realized the need of a child." Jiwan’s last movie was ‘Bindaas 2’ and his upcoming movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ is being produced.

MaHa Australia Tour, MaHaYatra 2014 to start on January 18

The MaHa duo, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya and other artists are going to perform in various cities of Australia under a tour titled MaHaYatra 2014.

The artists comprising of MaHa, Kiran KC, Basundhara Bhusal, Narendra Kansarkar, Shiva Hari Poudel, Kunti Moktan and Mohit Bamsha Acharya (Haribansha’s son) will also be in the MaHaYatra tour.

The artists are scheduled to reach Australia on January 16. The tour will start from the Australian city Perth on January 18 and will conclude in Sydney on February 2. The events will be conducted in the major cities like Perth, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Alidade, and Sydney.

Rekha meets and supports Raute community, to spend 24 hours with Raute children

While in Hong Kong, Rekha Thapa had announced to support the backward communities like Raute and Chepang. Now, she has converted her words to deeds by meeting the members of the community and supporting them with materials of their daily needs.

To meet the people of Raute community actress Rekha Thapa had headed towards Surkhet on Friday. Rekha and the Rekha Thapa Foundation members met 52 families of Raute in remote Surkhet.  She distributed 52 sacks of rice and some money to the families of the community. The people in the Raute community appreciated Rekha for the community and told that now she has become one of the community member.

Rekha Thapa starts social work, on her way to meet Raute children

During the premier of ‘Kali’ in Hong Kong, Rekha Thapa had announced her desire to start active participation in social work. In the event, Rekha had announce about spending some quality time with Raute children and help the children in their upbringing and education. As per the announcement, actress Rekha Thapa has headed towards Western Nepal, Surkhet on Friday, December 13. She will spend 24 hours in the area.

Rekha is planning to adopt four Raute children in her non-government organization, Rekha Thapa Foundation (RTF), for the upbringing and to provide education. Raute is a primitive community living mainly in forests in the Western Nepal. They mainly live in Surkhet and Mahendranagar area. Rekha will choose four 5 to 9 years old children to give shelter in RTF in Kathmandu.

Diya Maskey, an actress and a serious dancer

Actress Diya Maskey is considered one of the most serious actress in Nepali movie industry. An excellent dancer, Diya, thinks acting is a form of art and likes to take challenges.

In an interview published in a weekly magazine, actress Diya Maskey has told that she considers herself as an artist and feels odd when people address her as an actress. Maskey says, “I know, the word artist has a much wider meaning and actress usually means glamour, show-off and like that. Artists however, have all of them in them.”

Keki Adhikari explains the meaning of her name in a video

Nepali actress and well known music video model Keki Adhikari has prepared a video to explain the meaning of her name. The name ‘Keki’ is unique and most of the people she meet ask her the meaning of the name.

The name actually comes from the father language of Nepali language – Sanskrit. In Sanskrit language, Keki means a beautiful bird, peacock. In the video, apart from explaining the meaning of the name, Keki has also addressed other questions that follow.

Director Shiva Regmi died on December 9

xNepali team wishes noted director Shiva Regmi rest in peace.

He died at 5:30 AM on December 9, 2013 at the Bayodha Hospital in Kalanki, Kathmandu. We have prepared a life story video of Shiva Regmi to pay tribute to his contribution to nepali entertainment industry.:

On December 7, the doctors had given hopes and predicted him to die within hours. The condition improved and he lived in ventilator for a couple of days before giving up on life.

Shiva Regmi was air lifted from Chitwan when his condition worsened. Both of his kidneys had failed and the medical conditions didn’t allowed him to perform the kidney transplant operation. His brother was willing to donate his kidney but, the donation operation never occurred.

UPDATE:

Improvement – Now, Shiva Regmi is in stable condition. When the doctors predicted Shiva not to live more than an hour at 10 AM, film artists and his relatives were asked to gather in the hospital. But, the situation improved and now he is in stable condition.

Film artists and well wishers are gathering at the hospital. Friends and family members are also arriving from Chitwan.

In 2012 we had written a personal profile of Shiva Regmi – to mark his birthday.

For the last ten months, both of Regmi’s kidneys have failed. The doctors are waiting for his condition to improve before kidney transplant can be done.

According to doctors attending director Shiva Regmi at the Bayodha Hospital in Kalanki, he is struggling for the life.

Shiva Regmi was air lifted to Kathmandu when his condition worsened while being treated in Chitwan Medical College Hospital. Both of Regmi’s kidneys had failed and he was being prepared for kidney transplant at the hospital in New Delhi, India.

Binita Baral – in Go Organic movement

Actress Binita Baral participated in a rally organized to raise voice against the use of harmful pesticides in agriculture. The ‘Harmful Pesticide Free Week’ is organized by the Agricultre Minsitry of the Government of Nepal and runs from Mangsir 18 to 25 (December 3 to 10). The awareness campaign tries to create awareness to the consumers about the harmful effects of pesticides in agriculture.

In a facebook post, Binita said, we should go organic and stop using pesticides in agriculture. She adds,"Pesticides are positions not medicine." She says, we should raise our voice against the poisionous substance and live a healthy life.

Binita Baral to be featured in Telling a Tale: Kitchen Dramas, starting Dec 6

Actress Binita Baral is doing a play running on December 6, 7 and 8th in Theater Village, Lazimpat. The play by One World Theater is titled "Telling a Tale: Kitchen Dramas". The paly is about personal stories by Nepali girls and women in funny and serious way.

The play is based on the narratives edited by Archana Thapa. The play is adapted and directed by Deborah Merola. The play features actors Binita Baral and Devya Dev. Binita says that the she is enjoying the theater experience.

Director Shiva Regmi air lifted to Kathmandu in serious condition

Well known Nepali film director Shiva Regmi is fighting for life in a hospital in Balkhu. He was being treated in Chitwan when the condition worsened and was air-lifted to Kathmandu in an air ambulance on Wednesday.

While being treated for pneumonia in the ICU of Chitwan Medical College Hospital. The plan to take him to India for treatment was also postponed because of the worsening health condition.

Who is Ujju Darling?

A trans-gender character interviewing in Nepal 1 television for the last few years, Ujju Darling, is actually a family man with two kids. Ujjwal Bhandari was born to mother Chhidudevi Bhandari and father Bhuwaneshowr Bhandari on August 25, 1970 in Kathmandu.

Ujjwal and his wife Pushpa have two sons aged 10 and 19 years.

When asked if he is really a transgender, Ujjwal says that every person has traces of male and female characters, but, he is an artists and he performs to support his family. In the start – for the first 5/10 episodes, his wife used to complain that her friends made fun of her. But, these days is she is fully supportive.
