Miss Nepal Malina Joshi in the Top 15 in Miss Asia Pacific World 2013
Miss Nepal 2011, Malina Joshi, the Nepali representative to the Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 was selected one of the top 15 in the finale held in Korea on October 30. There were contestants from 50 different countries eyeing for the crown. Although Miss India Shristi Rana snatched the crown and Malina couldn’t win any runner-up titles, the selection in top 15 in itself is considered a great feat for a Nepali representative.
Other beauties in the top 15 list include Miss Australia, Miss Ukraine, Miss Vietnam, Miss India, Miss Nepal, Miss Philippines, Miss Russia, Miss Trinidad & Tobago, Miss Sweden, Miss Egypt, Miss Central Africa, Miss Kazakhstan, Miss Latvia, Miss Mozambique, and Miss Mongolia.

Namrata Shrestha to romance with Anmol KC in an unnamed movie
The maker of ‘Saayad‘ and ‘Hostel‘, Durgish Films has announced its third movie. The movie will feature the actors of both ‘Saayad’ – Samyam Puri and ‘Hostel’ – Anmol KC, Salon Basnet and Gaurav Pahadi in main roles. The movie will also feature actress Namrata Shrestha.
Chhabi’s new movie Lazza to feature Aryan Sigdel and Shilpa Pokharel
The inauguration of an upcoming movie ‘Lazza’ was held in the Ganesh mandir of Kamaladi on October 28. Producer Chhabi Raj Ojha and director Nawal Nepal inaugurated the movie by offering puja in the temple. Chhabi’s another movie ‘Loafer’ is releasing in theater on Mangsir 21.
Although the movie was inaugurated on Monday, the shooting will not start until after the Tihar festival. In the mean time the lead actor Aryan Sigdel is busy in his home production ‘November Rain’. The movie is the debut movie of Aryan’s opposite Shilpa Pokharel. Shilpa, a well known model in music videos, has taken a formal training on acting in preparation of the movie.

D Cine Award – Rekha Thapa and Jiwan Luitel best actors
Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has won the best actress award in HTV Filmykhabar D Cine Award. Rekha was awarded the award for her role in her movie ‘Lanka’. The best actor award was awarded to Jiwan Luitel for his role in ‘Notebook’. In the best movie category, ‘Rhythm’ was awarded the best in the year.
In this year’s award, ‘Maya’s Bar’, ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Notebook’ bagged most of the awards.
Rekha Thapa celebrates the success of ‘Kali’ by buying a new car
The release of Rekha Thapa‘s latest movie ‘Kali‘ posed a lot of threats. Some threats Rekha might have felt are:
- It was the first movie she had produced alone. All of Rekha Film’s previous movie were produced by Chhabi Raj Ojha.
- While Rekha was busy in ‘Kali’, Chhabi was producing his own ‘Loafer’. The media had termed the ‘Loafer’ actress Rajani KC the new Rekha. Some even speculated Chhabi marrying Rajani.
- The release date of ‘Loafer’ and ‘Kali’ was set on the same date – Fulpati of Dashain.
- These issueses led Rekha to approach Chhabi (or, the other way around) to let Chhabi distribute ‘Kali’. That saved Rekha from a tough competition. But, it also created another problem. The distributors Rekha had previously promised for the distribution of the movie got angered by the Rekha and Chhabi team. They found another movie featuring Rekha to release on the same date as ‘Kali’
- The Bhojpuri movie ‘Damani’ was a hit movie in Bhojpuri and it features Rekha in a guest role. The distributors, decided to highlight Rekha and release the movie to take away ‘Kali’ viewers.
Although Rekha’s ‘Kali’ was saved from the competition of Chhabi’s movie ‘Loafer’ it’s couldn’t escape from herself in ‘Damini’. The publicity of the movie paid off and ‘Kali’ remained in theater for more than two weeks.
Nepali Movie – Madhumash(pre-release review)
Nepali movie ‘Madhumash’ is releasing in theaters on October 25, 2013. The movie directed by Sudarshan Thapa features Aryan Sigdel, Pooja Sharma, Manoj RC and Shivangini Rana in leading roles.
The movie features the cinematography of Deepak Bajracharya, fight direction of Himal KC, music direction of Suresh Adhikari, story of Dinesh Neupane, and script of Dinesh Neupane.

Last week, actress Rekha Thapa was promoting her latest release ‘Kali‘ in ‘Meri Bassai’. This week, actor Aryan Sigdel is going to be promoting his new release, ‘Madhumash’ in another comedy serial ‘Tito Satya’. ‘Madhumash’ is releasing in theaters on October 25, 2013.

Madhumash to release on October 25
Director Sudarshan Thapa‘s movie ‘Madhumash’ is going to release on October 25 (Kartik 8) in theaters all over Nepal. In a program organized in Kathmandu on October 19, the release date of the movie was announced.
In the event, Sudarshan told that he has high expectation from the movie. He told that he has done a lot of hard work in making the movie.
Hostel producer Sunil Rawal sued journalist RK Subedi
‘Hostel’ and ‘Saayad‘ producer Sunil Rawal has accused journalist RK Subedi for defaming him. When Rawal refused to pay the money Subedi asked for the promotion of ‘Saayad’, Subedi had published various public notices in his magazine ‘Box Office’ weekly.
Sunil says that he had paid all the dues for the promotion of the movie in the magazine. It seems, Subedi did a Puja for the movie and claimed the the cost Rs. 25,000. Sunil refused to pay the amount as the spending wasn’t agreed on beforehand. In a Facebook message Sunil said, ‘I have taken RK Subedit to the district court. He defamed me by telling that I didn’t pay him.’
Soongava bagged a jury award in Italy Film Festival
A movie on the story of lesbian lover, "Soongava: Dance of the Orchids" has been a critically acclaimed movie appreciated by a lot of viewers. In a recent screening in Italy, the movie bagged a jury award in Italy Film Festival. The movie also created a buzz in in Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay film festival.
‘Soongava: Dance of the Orchids’ was selected to represent Nepal in Best Foreign Film category of Oscar Awards. Directed by Subarna Thapa, the movie features Deeya Maskey, Nisha Adhikari, Saugat Malla, Basundhara Bhusal in main roles. The movie is made on the tragic love story of social problems for the same-sex relationships in Nepal.
Aryan Sigdel gets engaged to Sapana Bhandari
A sad news for the female fans of Aryan Sigdel – he is now engaged to his girlfriend Sapana Bhandari. Aryan and Sapana had been seeing each other for the last five years.
The engagement ceremony of the heartthrob of a lot of Nepali girls, Aryan and Sapana was held in Siddhartha Foodland, Baneshowr, Kathmandu. Family members of Aryan and some Nepali film artists were present in the ceremony.
