Rajesh Hamal safe in Japan witnessing biggest crisis after WW2

rajesh hamal 9 Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal is currently in Japan and he has witnessed the devastation due to earthquake and tsunami. Rajesh is currently living in a city located about 300 km from the earthquake epicenter. The place is told to be safe for more earthquake damages.

Hamal was reported to be living in tents in the open area to be safe from any damages caused by earthquake. This is a good news for the fans of Rajesh Hamal and we hope he will return back as soon as possible.

According to the Japanese prime minister, this event is the biggest crisis in Japan after the World War 2. About 10,000 people are feared to have died in the earthquake. About a dozen Nepali living in Japan are reported to be missing.

Lady Gaga – loosing virginity was ‘terrible’, didn’t enjoy sex until ‘two years ago’.

American pop singer-songwriter Lady Gaga has revealed her sex life in the new issue of Grazia magazine of Britain. She has revealed that she lost her virginity when she was a teenager, at the age of 17. She however told that the first experience was ”terrible” and added that she wasn’t fully prepared for sex at that time.

Lady Gaga is popular for her “unique” fashion sense with odd costumes and accessories.

Nisha Adhikari did a short film making course in the US

After two and a half month of film making training in the US, actress Nisha Adhikari as returned back to Nepal. The course, Diploma in Film Making, of 2.5 month duration included subjects like hand-run camera, director craft, script writing, and editing. She attended New York Film Academy, Los Angeles

After the course Nisha has told that she has learnt a lot of new things about film making. Apart from helping in her acting career, she expects to start directing movies in the coming days.

Nisha told that she made three short films based on one shot, continuity shot and digital shot, during the course.

Singer Yogita Mokthan committed sucide

Nepali singer Yogita Moktan has committed suicide within 3 months of getting married. She hanged herself with her shawl from the ceiling of her residence in Bagdole, Lalitpur on Thursday night.

The police is investigating the reason behind the extreme step. Her husband is reported to be working in Dubai. Yogita was preparing to release her second solo album.

Delhi concert of Bryan Adams canceled

The concert of Bryan Adams scheduled to be conducted on Feb 15 was canceled at the last moment. According to the ticketing site kyazoonga.com, they have received instructions from the organizers stating that the Bryan Adams concert in Delhi has been postponed.

Details of the new venue, date & time will be available later this evening.

The site has requested the customers have booked tickets online and through retail outlets, not to go the the NSIC venue to pick up the tickets.

The site promises to refund the ticket price if they don’t want to attend the rescheduled concert.

Bryan Adams is scheduled to perform in the Indian city Hyderabad on Wednesday. He will perform in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Thursday and Friday and will be performing in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Adams has already performed in Indian cities Mumbai (Feb 12) and Bangalore (Feb 13). In the concerts Bryan was accompanied by his band comprising lead guitarist Keith Scott, and Michael Curry on the drums. The songs he performed were the hits of the 1980s.

Canadian singer Bryan Adams is going to perfrom for about two hours in Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu on February 19, 2011.

Three Nepali bands to perform before Bryan Adams 

Three Nepali bands will also perform at that time before Bryan arrives
. The event starts at 3:00 PM with DJ session. At 5:00 PM Nepali national anthem will be sung. The Nepali bands 1974 AD, Namaste and Mongolian Heart will perform, for about half an hours each, untill 6:45 PM. At 7:00 PM Bryan Adams will start his live performance. The event will be wrapped up at 9:00 PM.

Raju Lama of Mangolian Hearts is coming travelling back from US just to perform in the event. The band will perform three songs. Ishwor Gurung of Namaste band will perform with a Japanese artist in the event. 1974 AD is going to perform four songs including "Yo man ta mero Nepali ho..".

4 things to do after Kumar Kancha tragedy

Extensive effort to save Kumar Kancha proved to be unsuccessful and he died at the age of 54 on January 17, 2011. The sad truth, he lost all of his monetary earnings during the treatment and had to beg for help in his last days, from his death bed.

A lot of people had done their very best to help in collecting fund to help in his treatment.

Special mention : Donation collection drive one of my friends in the UK, Lex Limbu, came to an abrupt end when Kancha died. He sent a total of £800 GBP (NRs. 91,600) collected till date via Jharana Bajracharya to the fmaily of Kumar Kancha. It is really encouraging to see young people like Lex dedicating their time in helping artists in Nepal. Thank you Lex!

Is talent being ignored? – Prakash Poudel (Part 2)

Last year, one of Prakash Poudel’s album named Jal Paari was ready to be released but, the decision was changed in the last minute. He released one of the music videos, the response of which was good. This was the first serious album Prakash prepared, in contrast to his other fun filled, comedy theme music albums. Later, the release was postponed because of the most common reasons in Nepal – piracy and load-shedding. Prakash also mentioned that he was not happy with music awards and Nepali media.

Prakash Paudel claims that the video of Jal Paari was the first to be shot under-water. During the shooting of this video, a normal camera was enclosed in an aquarium like encasing. The shooting was done in a swimming pool in Biratnagar. The lip singing part however couldn’t be done underwater, so was done behind an aquarium. The cameraman Rojesh Shakya had done an excellent job of shooting the first ever underwater video in Nepal.

Prakash Poudel – Experimentation and Innovation in music (Part 1)

Do you remember singer Prakash Paudel? If not, do you remember a song “Naai Malai Tehi Keti Chahincha" – a cry rap song. Yes, Prakash Paudel is the same singer also known as Runche Gayak due to his first smash hit song “Naai Malai Tehi Keti Chahincha”. It has been 8 years since he entered the music field with his first album 3 Much, released by Moonlight Records. The debut album consisted of different experimental and comedy songs and it introduced him to the Nepali music industry as an experimental singer. The listeners have appreciated his talent and that album had done excellent business on its release.

Prakash is known for new and experimental types of songs. A whisper song “Kasailai sa bhannu la” and a lok-rap and comedy songs like “Doctor saabh vitamin lekhdinus na”. His fun filled songs are mostly popular among children and youngsters.

Bryan Adams concert in Nepal – security nightmare and high ticket price

Next month, a Canadian rock star, Bryan Adams, is having his concert in Kathmandu. The concert is mainly targeted to promote the Nepal Tourism Year, 2011. Everyone, especially the youth, is waiting for February 19, the concert day. On that day, Bryan Adams will perform for two hours at Dasrath Stadium in Kathmandu. Adams is known for his husky, soulful voice and is popular for hits like ‘Everything I do; I do it for you’, ’18 till I Die’, and ‘Have Your Ever Really Loved a Woman’ among others.

Keki Adhikari – ‘you won’t see me in valueless movies’

Newcomer actress, Keki Adhikari, is considered an actress with a lot of potential in the Nepali movie industry. Although, none of her movies are released till date, she has managed to gain a considerable amount of publicity in the media. She made news when she announced of not acting in movies till Swor is released. Her accident in Phewa lake during the shooting of I am Sorry also made headlines in the entertainment segments in newspapers. Kumar Kancha passes away

Nepali singer, Kumar Kancha, has lost the battle against spinal-cord tumor on January 17, 2011. Monday morning’s heart attack took his life in the hospital. He was being treated in SL Raheja Hospitalm, Mahim West in Mumbai, India for the last seven months.

Born in Calcutta on in Decmber 13, 1957, Kancha has sung in over 100 Nepali movies and has acted in a couple of Nepali movies. Apart from Nepali, Kancha has sung in over 25 languages in India. Kancha is survived by his wife and two sons.

Bryan Adams concert – ticket start at 2K

The Canadian singer, Bryan Adams, has confirmed the date and timing of the concert to be held in the Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu. The organizers have finalized the ticket rate ranging from Rs. 2,000 to a maximum of Rs. 6,000.

In a press meet organized last week in Soltaee Hotel, the organizers of the concert told, more than 15,000 police and private security guards will be present for the security of the concert to be held on Saturday, Falgun 7 (February 19, 2011). The day is also the celebrated as the Democracy Day in Nepal.

Bryan Adams will arrive in Kathmandu on February 18 and will stay for two days. He will return on the next day.

The total capacity of the Stadium in Kathmandu is only 18,000. So, the organizers will only sell 15,000 tickets. The tickets are being sold through Manakamana Bikash Bank.

For the concert the stage design and sound system will be done by Total Production from India. Four huge screens will also be erected in the stadium during the concert.

On Feb. 19, the stadium will open at 2PM. At 6PM Nepali bands will perform for an hour. Bryan Adams will start his performance at 7PM and will finish at 9PM.

In his 32 years-long singing career, Bryan has won a number of awards including Grammy Awards, American Music Award, and Canadian Grammy Awards. Apart from music, he is popular for his photography skill. His photographs are published in magazines like vogue, Esquire, Zoo Magazine, among others.

Raj Ballav Koirala – Swor will rule with its simplicity, music, characters and presentation

A radio host, model, and actor Raj Ballav Koirala started his acting career with the movie Parkhi Basen in 2008. The movie was very successful and won him Best Debut Actor in KTV film Awards.

Raunak had a brief conversation with the actor in which, Raj talks about his upcoming movie Swor.

Q. How would you introduce the movie Swor? What is on it?

A. Swor is a musical movie. It is a movie about rising and falling of a dream. Enthusiastically presented and crafted movies full of life and colors that tells a life about a youth and his friends on how they follow their dream as musicians.
