Mokshya charity show held, positive responses from viewers

The charity show of the upcoming movie ‘Mokshya’ was held at 8 AM at QFX Jai Nepal on January 23, 2014. The movie made on a musical journey of a musical band is told to be based on a true story. According to the viewers of the charity show, the movie is has been a good presentation. ‘Soongava’ couldn’t make it to the Oscars competition

The movie selected by the Nepali selection committee to represent Nepal in the Academy Awards, Oscars, couldn’t make it to the short-listing. The movie made on a lesbian love story, ‘Soongava’ was selected by a Nepali committee for the Oscars competition to compete in the Best Foreign Movie category.

The Oscars Awards organizer The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science has recently released the list of movies short-listed for the final competition. Nepali movie is  not in the list.

Nepali artists are voting in the election

The current election is considered to be one of the most important step towards the future of Nepal as a country. For that reason, most of the artists of the Nepali film industry have been actively participating in the election awareness. Most of them have joined one of the many political parties and those who haven’t joined any party are also actively participating in the awareness of people about their voting rights.

Nepali superstar is going to vote in the constituency no. 6 in Kathamndu. He is not affiliated to any party and he is also asking everybody to vote in the election.

Actress Karishma Manandhar is voting at Kathmandu constituency no. 3. Karishma is also one of the few artists who is not a member of any political party. She has also been asking every Nepali to vote the truthful and capable person in the election.

Soongava to release again in Kathmandu theaters

After being nominated to the Oscars Awards from Nepal, the movie is going to be re-released for the viewers who had missed during the previous screening. In the previous screening, it had faced lower than expected viewers.

According to the distributor, Eye Core Entertainment, the movie will be screened for 20 days with one show each day in Mandala Theater and multiplex theater in Kathmandu.

D Cine Award – Rekha Thapa and Jiwan Luitel best actors

Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has won the best actress award in HTV Filmykhabar D Cine Award. Rekha was awarded the award for her role in her movie ‘Lanka’. The best actor award was awarded to Jiwan Luitel for his role in ‘Notebook’. In the best movie category, ‘Rhythm’ was awarded the best in the year.

In this year’s award, ‘Maya’s Bar’, ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Notebook’ bagged most of the awards.

Soongava bagged a jury award in Italy Film Festival

A movie on the story of lesbian lover, "Soongava: Dance of the Orchids" has been a critically acclaimed movie appreciated by a lot of viewers. In a recent screening in Italy, the movie bagged a jury award in Italy Film Festival. The movie also created a buzz in in Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay film festival.

‘Soongava: Dance of the Orchids’ was selected to represent Nepal in Best Foreign Film category of Oscar Awards. Directed by Subarna Thapa, the movie features Deeya Maskey, Nisha Adhikari, Saugat Malla, Basundhara Bhusal in main roles. The movie is made on the tragic love story of social problems for the same-sex relationships in Nepal.

Soongava selected to participate in Oscars Awards

Nepali movie made on the love story of lesbian couple, ‘Soongava : dance of the orchids’ was selected to represent Nepal in the world’s most prestigious film awards, Oscars Awards. The movie will compete in the Best Foreign Movies category.

In the race to participate in the 86th Academy Awards ‘Soongava’, ‘Sanguro’, ‘Shirish ko Phool’ and ‘Badhshala’ were selected in the first step. A committee led by Bimal Poudel and having Laxminath Sharma, Pradeep Upadhaya, Raju Bikram Thapa and Lokendra Parajuli as members has selected ‘Soongava’ to go to the Awards.

Actress Nisha Adhikari appointed brand ambassador of E-20 car

Nepali actress Nisha Adhikari is selected the brand ambassador of environment friendly Mahendra car E-20. In a ceremony held in Hayat Regency Hotel, Nisha started the sales of the car in Nepal. In the program, journalist Kunda Dikshit bought a car and became the first owner of the car in Nepal.

Nisha said, "It was an awesome experience to be announced the official brand ambassador for E20."  Talking about the benefits of the car, Nisha says, "It has the most amazing apps and is a perfect vehicle for Nepal."

Nepali movie on the life of martyr Bhimdutta Pant being made

A Nepali movie based on the life of the martyr Bhimdutta Pant is being shot in the location in far-western Nepal. The martyr Bhimdutta is known for his fight against cast system and Rana autocracy. More than 60 percent of the movie is scheduled to be shot in the Western Nepal.

In the history of Nepali movies, this will be the first movie based on the life of a martyr. The movie titled ‘Bhimdutt’ is being produced and directed by Himgyap Tasi Lama. The movie will also feature songs based on the quotations of Bhimdutta and will showcase the attractions of Western Nepal.

Nisha Adhikari honored for climbing Mt. Everest

The Rotary Club of Nagarjun has honored actress Nisha Adhikari for being the first Rotarian to climb Mt. Everest. As a member of the Club, Nisha had carried a flag of the Club to the top of the Peak. In the ceremony Nisha handed over the flag she took to the top to the Club.

 

Before that film artists Nisha Adhikari and Arjun Karki were honored by the Film Artist Association. During the program Nisha and Arjun shared their experience of climbing the highest peak in the world. They also talked about the risks and challenges they faced while climbing Mt. Everest.

Victorious actress Nisha Adhikari received a warm welcome

Nepali actress Nisha Adhikari, the first Nepali actress to scale Mt. Everest, arrived in Kathmandu on Friday morning. At the airport, a team of film artists and others welcomed the actress.

Nisha landed in Kathmandu at 11:30 AM. There were film artists including Nawal Khadka, Laxmi Giri, Aakash Khawas, journalists to congratulate and welcome Nisha.

Nisha Adhikari became the first actress to climb Mt. Everest, will government certificate matter?

Actress Nisha Adhikari made a new record of becoming the first actress to climb Mt. Everest. Although the government might not be interested in giving her the credit, she has made a history. The first film artist to climb Everest, Arjun Karki, had also reached the peak a day earlier making him the first Nepali film artist on the peak.

Due to excessive charge to Nepali citizen to climb the Everest, Nisha and Arjun had to register themselves as climber’s support staffs, high altitude workers. They each saved (and the government lost) about Rs. 2 million (US$ 25,000) in registration fees.
