Nepali movie – Rakshya Starring – Rajesh Hamal, Poojana Pradhan, Pawan Basnet, Sarika Ghimire etc. Director – Raju Giri
‘Rakshya’Â the second presentation of Pawan Basnet. The movie created controversy because of bed scenes offered by Poojana and the poster design of the movie. The actress and the director had misunderstanding prior to the release of the movie. Later, Poojana had told that she is free to offer whatever role she prefers and she also told that she can go as far as removing all the clothes in movies.
Nepali Movie – Fagu Starring – Shilpa Pokharel, Rajesh Hamal, Subash Parajuli, Gauri Malla, Tika Pahadi, Basanta Bhatta, Pramod Agarahari, Bishnu Sapkota etc. Director – Samjhana Upreti Rauniyar
The third movie by actress Karishma Manandar as a producer was also not successful like her previous tires. Her second production, ‘Babu Saheb’ was such a failure that, she left the film industry to go and live in the USA. She lived there for more than half a decade and later returned back to Nepal. By that time, her time in the film industry was over. She couldn’t get back the charm and the industry didn’t embrace the actress. She later decided to become a politician. In the current movie, Karishma is not featured as an actress, she is purely a producer. Actress Shilpa Pokharel is featured as the leading actress. The film is directed by Samjhana Upreti Rauniyar.
Ko Banchha Crorepati is a new Nepali television show – a franchise game show based on the British reality TV Show – Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
The show was premiered on 2 February 2019 on AP1 Television and is scheduled to run for 52 episodes. The host Rajesh Hamal has changed his getup by cutting his hair short for the show. The question-answer contestant awards 1 crore (10 million) Nepali rupees to the person who can answer all the question in a particular episode.
The first episode of the Nepali version of Who wants to be a Millionaire has started in Nepal. The winner of the contest is awarded Rs. 1 million (which is 100 times less than a $1 million that the winners of US contest win).
The show is similar to the show held in India by Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan. For the show, the host, Rajesh Hamal, had redesigned his hair style. Rajesh Hamal is known for his slightly longer hair. He used to be strict when his hair style was concerned. He didn’t change his hair style throughout his acting career.
A video report about Rajesh Hamal’s new hair style:
The MahaNayak, Rajesh Hamal, delays the Dashain Tika by a day because his mother died on the Vijaya Dashami day. He remembers his mothers, performs Shradha puja and mourns on the 10th day of the festival. While all others enjoy and celebrate, Hamal doesn’t celebrate because, his mother suffered from depression.
He didn’t know his mother was depressed when she fell ill after the untimely death of his father. Hamal’s father Chura Bahadur Hamal was the ambassador of Pakistan. On the day he submitted his appointment letter, Hamal died of heart attack. After the sad incident, his wife went into a long mourning. She didn’t recover after that. Rajesh Hamal remembers, his mother going through tough time and smoking a lot.
At that time, the family members didn’t know that she could have been cured by medical doctors. Later Hamal realized it and told it was their lack of knowledge he lost his mother (watch the following video to see Hamal speak about the incident).
Rajesh Hamal’s parents were love birds who fell in love while travelling in a train in India. That was a very long time ago. They were deeply in love for each other for as long as they lived. I had also prepared a love story video of the two (the video was very popular among my viewers). Continue reading

Nepali Movie – Mukhauta Starring – Rajesh Hamal, Sunil Thapa, Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Robin Tamang, Nisha Adhikari, Harshika Shrestha, Prashant Tamrakar, Arpan Thapa etc. Director – Arpan Thapa
About ‘Mukhauta’
Being a multi-starrer, the movie was highly awaited. But, the wait resulted in higher expectation – more than what the film had to offer. So the most awaited, gangster/crime themed movie wasn’t successful in the box office. The movie tells the story of the underground mafia operating in Kathmandu. Because of violence and vulgar dialogues, the movie was given an ‘A’ certificate. The grading is given to films only suitable for the audience aged 16 years or older.
I wrote about the movie previously – ‘Mukhauta’ was released on June 13, 2014. The reason movie didn’t get the viewers as expected was attributed to various factors. The world cup football game was running at the time of the release – so, the film makers had also blamed the game for the failure of the movie. ‘Mukhauta’ producer Rabin Shrestha had recently announced the start of the production of the sequel of the movie titled ‘Mukhauta 2’. I had appreciated the participation of Harshika Shrestha in the premier of the movie in spite of her broken leg. The affair between Nisha Adhikari and cricketer Sharad Veshwakar became more apparent when they were seen together at the premier of the movie. This is the debut movie of the director Arpan Thapa as an actor.

The “Buddha was born in Nepal” controversy has gone a long way when the Tibetian religious leader Dalai Lama told that Nepali people’s claim of Buddha’s birthplace is nonsense. The office of Dalai Lama has responded by a statement in their website that says: “We are concerned to know there was misunderstanding of the intent of his answer, and would like to clarify that His Holiness meant no disrespect towards his Nepalese brothers and sisters.” Read the full statement here.
What did Dalai Lama Say?
Dalai Lama was answering some questions raised by students in Meerut, India on 16 October 2017. One asked where was Buddha born, in India or Nepal. In response, Lama told that the statement that “some Nepalese people” made about Buddha’s birthplace being Nepal is a “nonsense”. He told, although the birth place now falls in Nepal – in ancient time, it was under greater Bharat. So, Buddha wasn’t born in Nepal or China or Tibet but in India.
In response to the latest statement of the Tibetan religious leader, Dalai Lama’s comment about the birthplace of Buddha, a lot of Nepali people have termed him as “The Lie Lama”. Nepali superstar, Rajesh Hamal, has also responded in retaliation against the Lama’s statement.
Hamal wrote, “I’m appalled by the statement made by so called bastion of Truth and Compassion. Not even in my wildest imagination I though he would stoop so low by distorting the Truth, just to gain political milage.”
He added, “Your holiness there is a saying ‘you can fool some people some time but you can’t fool all the people all the time’…”
Craze of Nepali actor, Rajesh Hamal was also seen in a program held in Chandigarh, India. Hamal had completed his Master’s Degree in English literature in the Punjab University located in Chandigarh. He had spent a lot of time in India when he went there with his parents as a child. He had started his schooling in New Delhi when his father was a diplomat there. He later went to Pakistan and Russia before returning to India to complete his studies.
