Nepali actor Sunil Thapa was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award at the FOG awards held on August 15 at San Francisco, USA. Thapa was one of the five recipients of the awards including Jackie Chan, Kieu Chinh, Bappi Lahari and Matin Sheen.
Other Nepali participant artists were also felicitated in the FOG( Festival of Globe)awards 2015.

The movie ‘Khagrass’ is based on the true story in Gorkha during Maoist insurgency. The movie is a presentation of Austin Nepalese Association. The movie made to ‘reveal the criminal face of the Nepali politics’ is written jointly by Biplav Pratik and Nayan R Pandey. The movie was screened in various cities in the USA before the Censor Board in Nepal could approve it for release in Nepal. ‘Khagras’ was also nominated for best dialogue in NEFTA awards, 2014.The movie is made on the story of the killing of a school teacher by Maoist in Gorkha. Actress Jiya KC took the Nepali film industry by storms by vulgar dialogue and excessive skin shows in the most controversial movie in the Nepali film indistry, ‘ATM’ (Watch ‘ATM’ here). She tried her luck in a number of other so-called hot movies without any success. After she met Bhuwan KC, Jiya is absent from the Nepali film industry and has started living in Bhuwan’s home at Sinamangal.
Although Bhuwan KC and Jiya KC live in the same house and travel together, they still seem to be at unease when it comes to taking photo together. The last time they were photographer together was during the release of Anmol KC movie, ‘Jerry’ in November of 2014 (watch ‘Jerryy’ here).

After that, they were together during the shooting of Bhuwan’s debut movie as a director ‘Dreams’. The movie featuring his son Anmol KC and Samragya RL Shah in leading role doesn’t have any role for Jiya. In fact, he had called Jiya a vulgar actress at the time of the start of the shooting. But, she had joined the ‘Dreams’ team to Mustang with Bhuwan KC.
Bollywood actress of Nepali origin, Manisha Koirala, has been awarded the 3rd Annual G.O.D. Awards (Global Officials of Dignity Awards) by the United Nations. In an event held in the UN headquarters in New York, Manisha was handed over the award for her contribution to the earthquake victims in Nepal.
After April 25 earthquake in Nepal, UN had appointed Manisha the Humanitarian Ambassador to help the earthquake victims. Manisha had worked for mothers who gave birth to their children after earthquake.

A presentation of Karan Shrestha ‘Crazy’, the Nepali movie ‘Zanjeer’ is different from the Bhojpuri movie ‘Zanjeer’ posted earlier.
‘Zanjeer’ features the choreography of Kabiraj Gahatraj, action of Shankar Maharjan, music of Tanka Budhathoki, editing of Tara Thapa, camera of Ganesh Kumar Shrestha, story of Karan Shrestha and produced by Mohan Krishna Shrestha / Rajesh Khadgi.
Although the release date of the upcoming movie ‘Kismat 2’ is already announced – on the last Friday of 2072, the artists are yet to be finalized. In a latest report, actress Shilpa Pokharel is going to be featured in leading role. Although Chhabi had previously announced Shilpa to lead the movie, the official announcement was made recently.
The sequel of the hit movie ‘Kismat’Â will not repeat any of the original artists. The original ‘Kismat’ had featured Rekha Thapa, Aryan Sigdel and Biraj Bhatt in leading roles. Although rumors of the possibility of Aryan is going on, Rekha and Biraj are out of picture for now.

The biography of late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha was unveiled in a program to mark the first anniversary of his death on Shrawan 25 in Kathmandu. In the program held in Russian Cultural Center, minister, FDB personnel and various film artists were present to pay homage to the late actor.

Nepali movie industry is a very strange type of industry. In our film industry, most of the business logics fail economic has the least effect on film making. Because of the lack of professionalism in the industry, personal ego and social status are considered more important than the economic viability of the movie. The announcement of 6 movies on the same day, at the end of the year, can considered one of such examples.
On the last Friday of the year 2072 BS, on Chaitra 26 (April 8, 2016), six different movie makers have announced the release date of their movies. It is interesting that five out of the six movies are yet to go to the floor yet. The movies are:
Out of these movies, only the movie ‘Lootera’ has completed its shooting. The movie featuring Nikhil Upreti was previously announced to be released in Tihar but now the release date has been delayed by 5 months. The crew and artists of some of the movies are yet to be determined.

The Nepali movie ‘Badhyata’ is a presentation of Janatarang Multimedia. The movie is made on the story of the Maoist civil war in Nepal. The musical movie was produced to motivate people to support and get involved in the war.
Anuj Shrestha is the child artist of the movie. The lyrics and the script is written by the director Mohan Ghising, music by Ashok Rai, Kundan Rai and Mohan Ghising. Choreography by Palden Yonjan.

The unreleased horror Nepali movie ‘Andhakar’ is a presentation of GMI Films Production. The story of the movie is written by Dinesh Poudel, music by Hira Lama, choreography by Anita Shrestha (Doma), editing by Sanjeev Khatri, cinematography by Bimal Bhattarai.
On August 7, 2015 new movie by director Rishi Raj Acharya, ‘Sapana Timro Mero’ was released in theaters in Nepal. The movie made on action and love story is the second movie of the ‘Mistake’ director (watch ‘Mistake’ here).
‘Sapana Timro Mero’ features cinematography of Rahul Rai, choreography of Ghambir Bista, action by Samrat Basnet and editing of Nabin Niraula. The movie spans for about 2.5 hours. The movie is made on a triangular love story between the characters played by actor Sushant Karki with actresses Janwi Bohara and actress Surajani KC. Actor Sabin Shrestha is also featured in a special role in the movie.
On the occasion of actor Aryan Sigdel’s birthday, TV Filmy had organized a birthday celebration program. In the program actor Aryan Sigdel celebrated his birthday with fellow artists Jiwan Luitel, Dayahang Rai and others.
On Shrawan 20, the birthday party was a surprise party for Aryan. On the party, Aryan told that his wife Sapana Bhandari had surprised him at mid-night by asking him to cut his birthday cake.
Aryan, Jiwan and Dayahang were together in the movie ‘Mero Euta Sathi Chha’. In the movie Aryan was featured in the leading role and Jiwan and Dayahang were in short roles.
