A veteran choreographer of Nepali film industry, Basanta Jung Rayamajhi, has died on February 3, 2016, while being treated in Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu. 81-years old Rayamajhi was taken to the hospital when he collapsed at home. The dead body of Rayamajhi is kept at Pragya Pratisthan for the last goodbye till the mid-day on Wednesday. The body is scheduled to be cremated at Pashupati Arya Ghat on the same day.

Basanta Jung Rayamajhi started as a choreographer in Bollywood movies. He had choreographed the dances of various old Hindi movies including that of Amitabh Bachchan and other well known actors. After working in more than 100 Bollywood movies, Rayamajhi, decided to return back to Nepal.
The star cast of the fourth movie of Durgish Films banner has been finalized. According to the producer Sunil Rawal, the lead actors in the movie are Sandhya KC, Sushil Shrestha, Aashishman Deshraj Shrestha and Amrit Dhungana. The producer Sunil Rawal is known to introduce new actors and produce successful movies. His first movie ‘Saayad’ was directed by Suraj Subba Nalbo and was very successful. He produced another successful movie ‘Hostel’. After the release of ‘Hostel’s sequel ‘Hostel Returns’, Sunil is now producing the sequel of his first movie ‘Saayad’.
Three actresses, Rekha Thapa, Gauri Malla and Richa Sharma were in Pokhara in the Literature Festival talking about the roles of actresses in Nepali movies. They have pointed that there is gender discrimination in the industry and it has to be eliminated. The actresses were being coordinated by journalist Kishor Nepal in a session titled “Cinemako Dukha Sukha”.
Kishor introduced Gauri Malla as Mina Kumari of Nepali movie industry. He told Rekha Thapa is the hero, leading actor of Nepali movies. He said Richa Sharma – is known for excellent performance in ‘Loot’, ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ and ‘Uma’.

The movie features the music by Sudhan Thapa, story by Dhiraj Ghimire, cinematogrphay by Binod BK, editing by Sandesh Thapa, action by Laxman Poudel and produced jointly by Sandesh Shah / Baldev Poudel.
In an event held in Kathmandu, the promo and the posters of upcoming movie ‘Champion’ was released. In the movie made on the story of cricket players, some cricket players are also featured. In the press meet, the chief guest was the captain of the Nepali Cricket team, Paras Khadka. Talking in the ceremony, Paras requested everybody to watch the movie. In the event, the release date of the movie – February 26 (Falgun 14) was also announced.

In the start, actors Nikhil Upreti and actress Sanchita Luitel were to be featured in the movie. But, when NIkhil couldn’t give time for the movie, the film makers replaced Nikhil by Dikpal Karki and Sanchita by Manjita KC.
Two new movies have released in theater today, on January 29, 2016. The movie by the team of ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ famed Khagendra Lamichane, ‘Pashupati Prasad’ seems to be similar character based movie. Another release ‘Regfuge’ features Jiwan Luitel in leading role.
After the success of Khagendra Lamichane’s movie ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’, his movie ‘Pashupati Prasad’ was awaited by his fans. A premier show of the movie was held on Thursday among artists, journalists and guests. The movie is about a guy who had gone to Kathmandu to earn money from a remote village after the death of his parents. The movie directed by Dipendra K Khanal is shot mostly in Pashupati area featuring Khagendra in leading role. Actress Barsha Siwakoti, Bipin Karki, Prakash Ghimire and Rabindra Singh Baniya are featured in main characters in the movie. The movie made under the joint banner of Tuki Films and Dipendra K Khanal Production. The director, Dipendra K Khanal had previously directed successful movies like ‘Chapali Height’, ‘Jhole’, ‘The Yug Dekhi Yug Samma’ and ‘Dharma’ (all these movies are available to watch in xnepali).

A day before the release of the movie ‘Pashupati Prasad’, a premier show was held in Jaya Nepal theater among film crew, film artists, guests and journalists.
Artists present in the show held on January 28 were comedy actor Hari Bamsha Acharya and his family, Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula, Bikash Acharya, actress Mala Limbu, choreographer Renasha Rai, director Hemraj BC, Nischal Basnet, Keki Adhikari, Reema Bishowkarma etc. Most of the artists have told that they liked the movie.

The script of the movie is written by the director Pranab Joshi. The cinematographer is Babu Shrestha, lyrics / music by Kali Prasad Baskota. The movie is produced by Madhav Wagle. The title song of the movie became an instant hit in the internet. The song is credited to the success of the comedy movie.
The former Prime Minister, Baburam Bhattarai, has announced a 35-member interim central council of Naya Shakti Nepal in an event organized in Buddha Nagar, Kathmandu. In the interim central council of Naya Shakti Nepal, three Nepali film industry personalities are also included. Actress Karishma Manandhar, actor and producer Ashok Sharma and actor Saroj Khanal are listed as the council members of the new political party, yet to be formally announced.

The most noted personalities in the council are former finance secretary Rameshwor Khanal, Mumaram Khanal (a political analyst), Keshavman Shakya (former lawmaker), Ganesh Rai (former AIG), and the three film artists.
Also present in the event was the noted businessman Binod Chaudahary, who told that he supports politics of constructive developments and wished best for Naya Shakti.
There hadn’t been much publicity of the movie released on Friday, January 22, 2016. The action movie ‘Chhal’ is directed by Shiva Pariyar. Most of the artists in the movie are new. Prajwal Giri, Sanjog Rana, Soniya Giri, Sabina Karki, Kabisha Shrestha and Shree Dev Bhattarai are the leading actors of the movie.
The movie ‘Chhal’ is made by the team that produced ‘Loot Company’ (Watch ‘Loot Company’ here). The shooting of the movie had started two years ago took a long time to complete.
The actor who had been active in Nepali movie industry for the last 30 years, Bhuwan KC, is one of the most successful actors. Apart from acting in a number of hit movies, he has also produced many hit films. Bhuwan’s super hit movies include ‘Kusume Rumal’, ‘Karodpati’, ‘Saino’, ‘Kanyadan’, ‘Chino’, and ‘Ma Timi Bina Marihalchu’.
