Actress Tejula Khatiwada married a lawyer

Nepali actress of ‘The Most Wanted’ and ‘Just For You’, Teluja Khatiwada has married Suman Raj Basnet of Birtamod, Jhapa. The marriage ceremony was organized in Kathmandu on February 18, 2017 at Kundalini Durbar banquet. Film artists, journalists and family members were invited in the cremony.

Who is Tejula Khatiwada?

The bride, Tejula Khatiwada was an actress of the Nepali film industry. She debuted in ‘The most Wanted’ but wasn’t much successful as an actress. I wrote about Tejula Khatiwada in 2009. She had told that she wanted to be a bold actress then. (read the post) Apart from movies, she had also worked in video films, and music videos. Here are some of her movies:

Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal is one of the top actors in the Nepali film industry. Often called Maha Nayak (Super Actor), Rajesh Hamal ruled the film industry for about a quarter century. He prefers to tell that the film industry grew with him. Hamal is credited for :

Bringing professionalism in Nepali film industry.
Being the first educated actor in the film industry. He had done Masters in English literature from Punjab University in India.
He is considered a no-nonsense actor. Unlike other actors, Hamal kept himself from having affairs with the actresses. Although there were rumours of his affair, all rumours turned fake. Actresses had termed him as the coldest actor in the film industry.
Rajesh is a good orator and can easily impress the listener by his oratory skills. Proficiency in his English language is also something not seen in the Nepali film industry.
The height, looks and the physique have also been factors that attracted youngsters of his time.

Ex King Gyanendra visits Shital Niwas, on president daughter marriage, the venue of his own marriage

On January 16, 2016, the ex-King of Nepal, Gyanendra Shah visited Shital Niwas – the president’s government residence to participate in the marriage of the younger daughter of the president, Bidhya Devi Bhandari. It was a coincidence that Shital Niwas was also the venue of the marriage of Gyanendra Shah some 46 years ago. At that time, the venue was used for royal events and as a guest house for foreign dignitaries. As a prince, Gyanendra Shah had married Komal Rajya Laxmi Shah in 2027 BS.

During the marriage ceremony, Gyanendra was surrounded by the leaders of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). RPP is the party formed by the former Panchayat System leaders. The party led by Kamal Thapa and Lokendra Bahadur Chand is considered pro-monarchy and pro-Hinduism. Gyanendra told, “I remember the days of my marriage.”

In the recent days, Gyanendra has been releasing politically motivated press statements. He had expressed his dissatisfaction over the way the leaders have been working and the foreign influence in the Nepali politics.

Usha Poudel marries Sudhanshu Joshi in USA (Video)

Yes, the rumour report I shared in October about the affair between Usha Poudel and Sudhanshu Joshi has been proven right – Usha and Sudhanshu have married on November 24, 2016. In a private marriage ceremony held in Virginia, USA, a Nepali priest conducted the rituals.

Last month, they had told that they didn’t have immediate marriage plan although the reports also specify the November 24 marriage. I have no idea whey they had to lie at that time as the marriage plan was all set and preparation was going on. Actress Richa Ghimire and her husband director Shankar Ghimire were some of the most active freiends helping in the marriage ceremony.

Usha Poudel and Sudhanshu Joshi to marry soon?

According to latest rumours actress Usha Poudel and actor Sudhanshu Joshi are having an affair. There were reports of engagement between the two. But, both Sudhanshu and Usha denied such rumors. They however admitted that they are good friends. Although they have told that they don’t have any immediate marriage plans, those who know them personally say that they are expected to marry soon.

The actor of the past, Sudhanshu Joshi is a handsome actor who debuted in ‘Jali Rumal’. The success of ‘Jali Rumal’ established Sudhanshu as an actor. But, after he left Nepal to permanently live in the USA, Sudhanshu is not active in the Nepali film industry. Although he had produced and acted in a movie named ‘Nepal’, the movie wasn’t successful and he hasn’t acted in any movies after ‘Nepal’.

Despite of this new trend, there are still marriages that are arranged by the parents and the relative. One such marriage is in making in the popular comedian Hari Bamsha Acharya’s home. His younger son Mohit Bamsha Acharya was engaged to Bindu Thapa in a ceremony held on October 1, 2016 in a resort in Dhulikhel.

Chhabi Raj Ojha’s next movie ‘Kismat 2’ is releasing in the Dashain this year. It seems, the film team is well prepared not to leave any stone unturned. The lead actress, Shilpa Pokharel has told in an interview that if her family agrees, she is willing to marry Chhabi Raj Ojha. Based on previous statement, I think, she is very unlikely to marry Chhabi and it is only a publicity stunt. This time, Chhabi had prepared the situation by formally divorcing Rekha Thapa in the court.

Resham Filili actor Vinay Shrestha marries Aney Thapa

A well known actor, featured in leading role in hit film ‘Resham Filili’ Vinay Shrestha has married Aney Thapa in an event held in a party palace in Tinkune. Aney and Vinay were having affair for the last three years. They were engaged last year (I wrote about their engagement at that time).

Vinay had revealed about his affair in June of 2015, two and a half months before the engagement. Aney is a beauty therapist by profession.

Vinay’s affair with Richa Sharma

Vinay Shrestha and Richa Sharma were seeing each other for a long time before they broke up in 2013. They had produced a movie called ‘Visa Girl’. The movie made in association with Chaudhary Group didn’t do well in theatre. The failure of the movie is often cited as the reason that caused the problem in the relationship between Richa and Vinay.

7 Nepali celebrities who married a foreign national

The son of Hari Bamsha Acharya, Trilok Acharya married a US girl in the USA recently. The family of Hari Bamsha went to the USA for the marriage. Although Trilok had previously married and was living with his wife for some years, the current ceremony was conducted to perform the marriage in Nepali culture and tradition. At the time Trilok married his girlfriend, his mother had died. Both Trilok and his wife had come to Nepal to mourn the death. Now, after things settled, they decided to perform a formal marriage.

Marriage of celebrities to foreign nationals is not much common in Nepal. So, I looked into the celebrities who have chosen foreign partner of their lives. The result is the following video.

Garima Pant marries in a Western style ceremony, marriage cost, 7 lakh, donated to schools

At last, actress Garima Pant has announced her marriage with Hari Sharma Thapaliya in Belgium. There were not pandits, no janti and no reception parties in the marriage. Garima and Hari got married in the court by signing the marriage papers.

Garima has used the money saved by not having a lavish marriage, for a noble cause -by donating to a couple of schools in her birthplace. According the the information she shared in her Facebook profile, Garima is going to donate Rs. 700,000 to tow of the schools in her birthplace to set up scholarship funds for poor and talented children.

After marrying the chief of the authorized dealer of Samsung mobile in Nepal, Dikesh Malhotra, Zenisha Moktan has now become Zenisha Malhotra.

It is an usual practice in Nepal to change the last name to the wife, to the last name of the husband, after marriage. If Zenisha choses to go with the traditional practice, he will be named Zenisha Malhotra. But, these days, some women prefer to keep their maiden name along with the after-marriage last name. In that case, Zenisha will be named Zenisha Malhotra Moktan or Zenisha Moktan Malhotra. We will surely know the name Zenisha choses for herself in near future.

The director of ‘Loot’ and ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ and the actor of movies like ‘Kabaddi’, Nischal Basnet, and the actress of hit movie ‘Hostel Returns’, Swastima Khadka, have got engaged in an event held in Kathmandu on December 14, 2015. The marriage between the two is scheduled to be held on February 17, 2016 (Falgun 5).
