About ‘Shubhakamana’

Nepali movie “Shuvakamana” is a presentation of Simanta Udas and is produced under Siddhakali Films banner. Late actor Shree Krishna is the leading actor featured opposite to Miss Nepal 1997, Jharana Bajracharya. The presentation of Simanta Udas the movie is made on the story of the director Ujjwal Ghimire. The screenplay and the dialogues are written by Suraj Subba, music by Sambhujit Baskota, lyrics jointly by Ujjawal Ghimire and Kiran Kharel, choreography by Santa Nepali and Kamal Rai. The fight directo ris Rajesndra Khadgi, cinematographer is Dirgha Gurung, editing by Tara Thapa and background score by Sanjay Shrestha.

I have prepared an experimental video abut a discussion in Twitter about Nepali movies. This is the first in the series – a very dull and completely uninteresting topic. Although, the topic wasn’t interesting at all, the response among Twitter friends was very good. So, I prepared a 3 minutes long video about the discussion.

Dashain 2016 – Dashain Tika photos (Update with videos)

UPDATE: Dashain has finished today. I collected 100s of photos of celebrities. But, posting them in the page would not be that much interesting to the most of the site visitors. So, I collected the photos of 40+ Nepali actress celebrating Dashain this year and prepared a video (I deleted the video – nobody watched it).

I also prepared a video about the fist Dashain of two Miss Nepal sons. In addition to the sons of Jharana Bajracharya and Malvika Subba, the daughter of actress Richa Ghimire also celebrated her Dashain for the first time in her life.

Mom Actresses in Nepali film industry – Karishma Manandhar to Sumina Ghimire

I wrote his article in May of 2016 – to mark the Nepali Mother’s Day. I am re-writing this article because there are three more updates in the article :

  • Sumina Ghimire gave birth to her daughter in December 25, 2015. Sumina Ghimire had gone into hiding after marrying, so it took me nine months to know about her childbirth. (photo and a video report is attached.)
  • Simpal Khanal is also expecting a new child soon. Although Simpal had also gone into hiding after marrying a UK resident guy, she had shared the photo of her big belly recently. (a video report is attached – read more about Simpal’s pregnancy here)
  • Sumi Khadka is another actress who is pregnant now. Sumi had announced the pregancy on September 26, 2016. Khadka, a former Miss Nepal, was also an actress in a number of movies. Sumi had married Chiran Basnyat in 2015. (A photo is attached.)

7 Nepali celebrities who married a foreign national

The son of Hari Bamsha Acharya, Trilok Acharya married a US girl in the USA recently. The family of Hari Bamsha went to the USA for the marriage. Although Trilok had previously married and was living with his wife for some years, the current ceremony was conducted to perform the marriage in Nepali culture and tradition. At the time Trilok married his girlfriend, his mother had died. Both Trilok and his wife had come to Nepal to mourn the death. Now, after things settled, they decided to perform a formal marriage.

Marriage of celebrities to foreign nationals is not much common in Nepal. So, I looked into the celebrities who have chosen foreign partner of their lives. The result is the following video.

Inter caste marriages of Nepali actresses, what did Samriddhi Rai say about Rai guys?

Intercaste marriage is still a taboo in Nepali society. People have higher affiliation towards their own religion. Young generations are also obsessed by the caste and even the Gotra, a religious categorization of people in the society. One of the most striking public display of the truth on what the people think about their caste was seen when model and journalist Samriddhi Rai told that she didn’t want to marry the guy in her own caste. She told she didn’t want to look at a Rai guy, because she was forced by her family members to do so. She told she wanted to be a Nepali rather than a girl of Rai-clan.

Samriddhi Rai had to face a lot of protest. She was threatened to be boycotted by the Rai community. When things went nasty, she also released a video with an apology. I did a video report on Samriddhi case. At the time of this writing, the video is watched by 23 K people and there are 79 comments in it. (The video is attached below)

After the Samriddhi Rai incident, I decided to do a small research on the Nepali celebrities who had tied their knot with the partner of different caste. I was surprised to find a lot of celebrities who had chosen the partner of another caste. Preparing a report on all of them would be a long report, so I decided to focus on actresses. Here is the list of 10 actresses who had done inter-caste marriage.

A 2001 release movie, ‘Siudoko Sindoor’ is presented by Global Cine Concern, by Birendra Narayan Shrestha. The movie featuring ex-Miss Nepal Jharana Bajracharya also features Niruta Singh and Rajesh Hamal. The movie features the script and dialogue of Surendra Nakarmi, Purushottam Pradhan was assistant cameraperson in the film. Music in the film is composed by Sambhujit Baskota, choreography by Kamal Rai, action by Rajendra Khadgi, editing by Karun Thapa / Prem BK and production / cinematography by the director Manjukumar Shrestha.

Jharana Bajracharya – Miss Nepal World 1997, Jharana Bajracharya has acted in a number of movies. Her acting career didn’t go well. Jharana got married to a Malaysian businessman last year and she is expecting a child in April of 2016.

Niruta Singh – One of the top actress of her time, Niruta Singh left the film industry in 2008. She is reportedly working in Mumbai as an interior designer.

The Bollywood film industry is considered one of the largest film industry in the world. The movie industry has gone worldwide because of the popularity of the movies. The opportunity to be a part of the film industry is very difficult. In such an environment, few Nepali artists have established themselves as credible artists. Malvika Subba and Jharana Bajracharya announced their pregnancy (video blog)

Two ex-Miss Nepal – Miss Nepal 1997 Jharana Bajracharya and Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba have announced their pregnancy at the same time. Both chose Instagram, a social networking site, to break the news to their fans.

Malvika had waited five and a half months into her pregnancy to announce the news. Sharing a photo of herself with her husband Malvika wrote: “Five years of being together and married in between, we finally decided on being parents again (another story here but maybe for later). And here we are – post-earthquake, post my PCOS and vitamin-D deficiency, in our 2nd trimester, having tried so hard to hide it for the past 5 and half months. It feels so good to share this news publicly as now I can show off my ever growing belly and be healthy and happy.”

Jharana Bajracharya models in a music video before leaving for Malaysia

The actress Jharana Bajracharya was seen at a shooting location of a music video before she leaves to live in Malaysia with her newly-wed husband (Jharana married on March 12). The music video titled ‘Timro Maun Ishara …’ is features Bishwa Nepali and Sujata Upadhyaya Manandhar. Jharana is featured in the music video opposite to Puspa Khadka.

In a program in Kathamndu, Jharana had indicated that she might be retiring after the marriage and moving to Malaysia. In another latest interview, she has however kept the door open for movies with good script and story. Working in music video after two weeks of marriage is an indication that she has nothing against acting and that she has only prioritized other works on top of acting.

Jharana Bajracharya to retire from acting

After getting married a fortnight ago, ex-Miss Nepal and actress Jharana Bajracharya has told that she is retiring from acting after the marriage. Speaking in a program organized by Upasana Women Saving and Credit Cooperative on March 25, Jharana told that the life after marriage will be different from the one she had lived before it. Jharana is a member of the cooperative locate in Sita Paila, Kathmandu.

Jharana had married a Malaysian citizen, Rahul Agarwal, in the wedding ceremony held on March 12. The news of the marriage made into the media only after the newly-wed couple went to the honeymoon trip to Pokhara and Mustang.
