Rajesh Hamal mocked public holiday on Indian President visit to Nepal

Nepali superstar, Rajesh Hamal has mocked the decision by the Nepal government to declare a public holiday on the day Indian president Pranab Mukharjee visited Nepal. On the occasion of the official visit of the Indian president, curfew was imposed on the streets in Kathmandu and offices were closed all over Nepal. In a recent post Rajesh Hamal expressed his surprise on the curfew imposed on the day of the President’s visit.

A while earlier, in a Facebook post, Rajesh Hamal had written: The head of the present Nepal Government who ironically, once upon a time propagated the concept of ‘New Nepal’ has in course of time shaken the very foundation of being Nepali. The protocol amongst sovereign states should be on a reciprocal basis. I am eagerly waiting for the day when India/China will declare a national holiday when our President makes a state visit to those countries.

A video report:

It was the first such visit of Indian president in almost two decades. The government has cited the security reason for the holiday declaration. The prime minister Puspa Kamal Dahal will be most adversely affected by such a step.

20 Nepali actresses – Laxmi Puja, rangoli and Deepawali celebration (video)

Deepawali and rangoli are usually made by women in the house. So, I haven’t found any male celebrities sharing the such artworks online. I have collected the photos of the Nepali film actresses and some videos to compile the following video. In the background I have used a video clip of the well known comedy poet, Shailendra Simkhada, telling one of his latest poems in the Sisnopani Deusi program held on the Deepawali day in Kathmandu.

Shailendra’s poems are satirical and funny. Sometimes the words in the poem and the photos might seem  connected but, that is not true. I have placed the photos of the actresses alphabetically, so if you find any connection between the words in the poem and the photos, it is not intentional.

Watch the video: removed

In addition to the poem of Shailendra Simkhada and photos of actresses celebrating Laxmi Puja, I have also added a video clip at the end of the video of actress Priyanka Karki dancing with the little Bhailo girls at her home. The song she is dancing is one of the most popular songs of her movie in theatre ‘Chhaka Panja’. The movie had recently celebrated 51-days in theatre.  Continue reading

Director – Sisan Baniya

About ‘Bhai Tika’

The Nepali short movie ‘Bhai Tika’ is about the relationship between brothers and sisters in the contest of Nepali festival Tihar. The 12 minutes long movie shows the childhood memories of the relationship between brothers and sisters.

The movie is told to be the first movie in a series of short movies to be produced by an entertainment department of Chaudhary Group. In the Past CG had produced a number of movies including ‘Visa Girl’. It is told that short movies will be released every two weeks. under the CG Entertainment banner. The short films are told to be made on the stories on social issues as well as entertainment. There had been a flood of vulgar movies in the name of short films. I hope a reputable group’s entry in the making of short movies will help in creating a market for such movies in coming days.

5 Days of Tihar, An Introduction to a Nepali Festival and how Nepali celebs celebrate Tihar

This post was originally written and posted on Oct 31, 2008. I am making an update on the post by adding details how Nepali celebrities celebrate the festival. I have also added a video introduction of the festival. I have included the details of the celebration of three US-return artists of Nepali movie industry:

Actress Jal Shah is in Nepal for Dashain and Tihar this year with her 8-years-old daughter Kalas. She is planning to cook ‘sel’ the sweet bread popular during tihar. Last year, Jal had offered tika to actor Dilip Rayamajhi.

Actor Ramesh Upreti is not celebrating this year because of the death of his grandfather. Although there won’t be Tika and won’t be much fun at home, he will meet and celebrate with his friends.

Ashishma Nakarmi doesn’t have brothers. So, she hasn’t celebrated bhai-tika yet. She enjoys the festival with her friends and family.

About ‘Fulai Fulko Mausam Timilai’

The movie ‘Fulai Fulko Mausam Timilai’ produced by the director Dinesh DC was highly promoted and had a high expectation of success. But, ‘Dreams’ became successful movie and ‘FFMT’ failed to attract the viewers. Dinesh DC had released the audio of the movie at the residence of the Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Oli. Oli was criticized for his statement during the ceremony. He was also criticized for the event at the time of crisis in the country.

7 NRN Actresses in Nepali movies, Shristi Shrestha to Meruna Magar

The entries of Non Resident Nepali (NRN) actresses in the Nepali movie industry is a new trend. So far, there are seven Nepali film actresses who have their permanent homes abroad. If India is to be considered foreign and residents in India are to be considered NRN, the number can go up considerably. But, I am excluding residents of South Asia for this article. I think, Nepali communities in India like Sikkim and Darjeeling are not foreign. We have never thought Niruta Singh, Tripti Naadkar, Tulsi Ghimire, or Sushmita KC as foreign actresses although they have their parental home in India.

All of these NRN actresses are Nepali actresses and, I have no intention to alienate them. I wish more NRN actors and actress enter Nepali movie industry. A video report on 7 NRN actresses:

Let me discuss in detail about each of the 7 actresses:

Prapti Ghimire

Actress Prapti Ghimire, a resident of Germany, debuted in ‘Kathmandu’. Prapti had also won a debut actress award at that time. But, after ‘Kathmandu’ she didn’t return back to the Nepali movie industry.
