Two Barsha – Barsha Siwakoti and Barsha Raut left ‘Nai Nabhannu La 5’ because of the roles they were offered in the movie. The reasons of the rejection of the movie by the two actresses is said to be because of their roles relative to Swastima Khadka. Swastima is featured in the leading role and the roles of the two actresses were that of characters that were older than Swastima.
Barsha being fat, was offered the role of an elder sister of Swastima Khadka. But, as they are of similar age, Barsha didn’t want to be tagged as an older woman when compared to Swastima. That was the reason Barsha said she rejected the role. Watch the following video report:

Update – Paradeshi
A 2015 release, superhit movie of Prashant Tamang. The movie ‘Paradeshi’ was directed by Narayan Rayamajhi, the director of another hit movie ‘Gorkha Paltan’.
The 2016 release movie by Aryan Sigdel, ‘Classic’ is one of the top movies of the year 2016. The movie about a blind couple features Aryan Sigdel and Namrata Shrestha in leading role. Namrata Shresthat had had won all the Best Actress awards of the year for her role in the movie. Aryan Sigdel had also won Best Actor awards for his role in the movie. The movie was also awarded the Best Movie of the year award in various film awards. This is a must watch movie.

To make it easier for our viewers, I have collected all the sequels of the one of the most popular Nepali movie franchise, ‘Nai Nabhannu La’. Although the initial response was lukewarm, the movie piked up in later days.
The first sequel of ‘Nai Nabhannu La’ was released in August of 2010. One of the movie theatres, Hira Ratna, had removed the movie on the second day of it’s release because of low turn out of the viewers (read my report of 2010 – Did viewers say “Nai” to “Nai Na Bhannu La” the next day?). But, the musical love story movie turned out to be a blockbuster movie and did a good business in the theaters inside and outside of Kathmandu valley (Read the Year end report of the movies in 2010). Let me compare the four sequels of the movie in a tabular form:

The fourth sequel of ‘Nai Nbhannu La’ was also a super hit movie like it’s previous sequels. The movie is the only Nepali movie that had been the fourth sequel of any Nepali movies. Produced and directed by Bikash Acharya, the movie features the music of Basanta Sapkota. The lyrics are written by Basanta Sapkota, Bikash Raj Acharya and Dr.Krishana Hari Baral. Script of the movie is written by Samipya Raj Timilsina, cinematography by Purushottam Pradhan, choreography by Kabiraj Gahatraj, editing by Arjun GC. The director of the 3rd sequel, Muskan Dhakal, is the chief assistant director of NNL 4.

A friend in Twitter, Rakesh, has categorized the Nepali movies in four different types. Although the categorization is done very loosely and the boundary of this categorization is extremely blurry, such a categorization can give a rough guide on what a particular movie is like. I think, there is room for improvement in this categorization so that one can easily decide on whether to watch the movie or not. There is a possibility that some movies might fall in more than one category. Let’s review each category in detail with examples.

Masala Nepali movies contain all the different entertaining aspects of movies. They are the mix of comedy, family drama, action, music and love all stuffed in a movie to appeal all types of viewers. They might contain all these ingredients (masala) or some of them. These types of movies are less risky and hence, the established film producers prefer to go with these type of movies.

The third sequel of the popular Nai Nabhannu La franchise, ‘Nai Nabhannu La 3’ was also a superhit films like it’s predecessors ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ and ‘Nai Nabhannu La’. In this movie the direcotor Muskan Dhakal has debuted as a full director. In previous movies, Muskan used to work as assistant to Bikash Acharya. During the shooting of this movie Bikash was mourning and didn’t want to direct the movie. Bikash has directed the next in the sequel ‘Nai Nabhannu La 4’. The movie in in it’s post production phase now.
The movie is presentation of Bikash Acharya for One Time Cinema. The movie marks the comeback of Sanchita Luitel after an absence of half a decade. The movie was released in April, 2015.
Even before the release of the third sequel of ‘Nai Nabhannu La’, the song recording of the fourth sequel has already started. The title song of the movie is recorded on the voice of singer Rajesh Payal Rai. The song titled ‘Aanshu Jharna dinna timro Aankhabata… ‘ is written and composed by Basanta Sapkota.
The movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La 3’ is scheduled to release on Chaitra 27, 2071. The producer and the director of the first and second sequels, Bikash Acharya, will also direct the fourth sequel.
Sequel movies are produced to cash in the success of the original successful film. Another film, ‘Jholey’ team has announced the making of the sequel of the movie. The movie released last year was liked by the viewers and the producer Taken Khadka has decided that the viewers would like to follow the story in the new part. The director Dipendra K Khanal is reportedly busy in the preparation of the script of the film with the script writer Shan Basnet.
The sequel, ‘Jholey 2’ will feature Dayahang Rai, Priyanka Karki and A Gurung in leading role. A new actress will also debut in the film.
During the end-clap of the movie ‘Nai Na Bhannu La 3’, actress Sanchita Luitel has told that she is very happy to be the part of the Nepali film industry. Although it has already been four years since she had faced movie camera, she told, it feels like 4 days. Sanchita had also appeared in a music video on mother and danced in a program in Malaysia earlier this year.
In the last few years Sanchita got married to Nikhil Upreti and gave birth to two children. In the past some time Sanchita was preparing for the comeback by shedding weight and taking care of her appearance. In the movie, Sanchita is featured opposite to Suraj Singh Thakuri.

The shooting of the third sequel of the hit movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La’ has started in Kathmandu on October 8. In a program held at Bhadrakali temple, the first shot of the movie was done featuring actor Samyam Puri and Ashma DC.
The third sequel is being directed by the assistant director of the previous two sequel of the movie, Muskan Dhakal. The director of previous two sequels, Bikash Acharya, will only be overlooking the direction of the movie as he is mourning the death of his mother.

The sequel of hit movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La’ by Bikash Acharya also became a super-hit movie. The characters of two child artists Sugyani Bhattarai and Anubhav Regmi is liked by the viewers. A new child singer, Prem Pariyar, was also introduced as a playback singer in the movie. The movie features the music of Basanta Sapkota and lyrics of Prabha Acharya. The movie produced by Dinesh Pokharel is made on the story of the director – Bikash Achary.
On the occasion of the celebration of the 51-days in theater of ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ the artists and related personnel were appreciated and awarded. In addition to the regular film program, the view of Priyanka Karki‘s underwear also made news.

This week two new movies ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ and ‘Manle Manlai Chhunchha’ are released in theaters all over Nepal.
‘Manle Manlai Chhunchha’ is the last movie of the late director Shiva Regmi. The movie made under Miracle Media banner features Biren Shrestha, Garima Pant, Suman Singh, Mithila Sharma, Sirjana Basnet etc. in main roles. The movie features the cinematography of Shambu Sapkota, editing of Banish Shah, and music of Basanta Sapkota.
Nepali movies have been using popular television programs to promote their movies. In the latest news, actress Priyanka Karki is being featured in ‘Meri Bassai‘, a popular comedy serial.
The actress will promote her upcoming movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ in the movie. With Priyanka, Anubhab Regmi will also be featured in the serial. The actor and director of the serial Sitaram Kattel featured as Khadkaji will be featured with Priyanka.
