…Minority knowledgeables thought Smita as a very courageous, frank, fearless, and revolutionary woman…
If, I am sure I am right, I don’t care what others say about me. But, when I am in doubt, I start seeking palatable excuses to prove myself right! That is what Saptahik is doing by publishing the following article.

And, it was the World Cup in South Africa where she was told to be arrested after the match between Brazil and Netherlands‎.
When the news of her arrest spread like wild fire, Paris told in her Twitter post – “Everything is fine guys. I had nothing to do with it…â€
Hey guys, there’s a lot of crazy rumors going around. Just want you all to know the truth. Everything is completely fine. I was not charged or arrested, cause I didn’t do anything. I was assisting the police with the investigation and answering their questions. Everyone was super nice and friendly to me. I love South Africa! Such an amazing place, especially during The World Cup! Hope that clears everything up. Love you guys, thanks for your concern. Xoxo P

In the recently completed marriage ceremony, Manisha Koirala had worn different custom designed dresses and diamond jewelries made for different occasions.
On the first day of marriage, Manisha wore yellow saree with diamond ear-tops and a ‘huge’ matching necklace. The personal makeup artist of Manisha, Atul Kadam, did the makeup to match the jewelries and the dress she was wearing.
I wrote about the flood of beauty contests in December when there were 3 beauty contests being held in a week’s time (hat-trick, if you like – Republica Miss Teen, Riddhi Siddhi Miss Teen, and Miss Teen Tamang). After that, we had College Ambassador, Miss Mangol, Miss India Worldwide Nepal, Kid Queen, Miss Lumbini, and announcements of Miss Tamang (canceled) plus combined Miss Tamang and Miss Aryan. That is not all, we have a recent announcement of yet another contest, Miss Angel 2010.
The organizers of Miss Angel believe that the event will be nearly equivalent to Miss Nepal in terms of size! (But, I don’t have any reason to believe it.) The event is going to be held on July 17. They have only a month to prepare for the event and they want it to make a grand event… It however looks better in terms of prizes – Rs. 100,000 for the winner and 50,000 and 30,000 for the first and second runner up is not a bad prize money.
A rough history of beauty contests from November to May (10 contests in 7 months and another hat-trick beauty contest announcement for July)**

There was a very hot interview of a model, Smita Thapa, in Saptahik, the sister publication of Nepal’s top newspaper, Kantipur. The interview titled “I need a man not a husband†claims that the model Smita Thapa uses men as toys and she uses men only for her sexual needs. Claiming to be the first public revelation of her private life, Smita talks about her decade long sex life. Smita started revealing more details of her sex life as the whiskey she was drinking took control of her.
In a startling revelation, she told that she couldn’t remember how many men she has slept with.

Three judges checked the participant’s figure, confidence, poise and presentation in the swimsuit round.
According to previous announcement, the Miss Tamang 2010 beauty contest was supposed to be held on May 1 by Everest Fashion Home. When Tamang Kala Sanskriti Kendra wanted to do a separate contest, the organizations began to seek a common ground so that confusion is not created by conducting similar contests.
Previous two Miss Tamang contests were organized by Tamang Kala Sanskriti Kendra and it seems logical that they want to continue their program. After a debate of a couple of months finally Tamang Kala Sanskriti Kendra and Everest Fashion Homes have agreed to organize only one Miss Tamang.
As if we don’t have enough Miss Whatever contests … it is funny how they were going organize two Miss Tamang beauty contests one on May 1 by Everest and another on first week of July by Tamang Kendra. Everest home had already selected 17 contestants (in photo above) for the event and they were already given a month-long training. Now, the combined contest will include the 17 contestants plus the contestants selected by Tamang Kendra. The organizers say that there might be about 34 contestants in the contest.
In the crowd of beauty contests, some contest go unnoticed. The Lumbini Zonal Beauty Pageant didn’t get much media attention and we don’t know the names of the winners.
After various cast related beauty contests like Miss Tamang, Miss Gurung, Miss News, Miss Sherpa, another beauty contest among the girls of Aryan community. Milan Moktan of Sadhana Music Network held a press conference in Reporter’s Club on May 19, 2010 to unveil the details and forms for the participation in the contest.
The organization has already organized Miss Tamang beauty contest in the past.
Entry requirement in the contest is – the participants should be aged between 16 and 25 and should be of Indo-Nepali origin. The minimum required height of participants is 5′ 2†and they should at least be SLC passed.
Beauty contests are being held very frequently in Nepal. The contest held today was for the kids – the Kids Queen (Aren’t we fed-up with the word ‘queen’ yet?). Initially I thought, its the kids talent show, not a beauty contest, and 40 schools have sent their 9 to13-year-old students in the event to show their talents. And, it left me wondering why only the girls and why the boys aren’t allowed to participate in the event?
But, when I saw the awards – the event wasn’t what I expected. It was actually a ‘mini’ version of a beauty contest. If you ask me, “Miss Innocent” is the most bizarre award I would like to see my kid awarded with! Our retarded mentality to discipline kids might have created another award title, “Miss Discipline”. I can’t understand why are the schools are teaming-up with the organizers to prepare the kids for the so-called ‘beauty contests’ in the future.
The Kids Queen 2010 contest was held in Kathmandu on Saturday, 15 May 2010. The Kids Queen 2010 crown was awarded to Karina Bhattarai (middle), 1st runner-up to Aasma Aryal (left), and 2nd runner-up to Pragya Lama (right) in the photo above. Continue reading
