For the last few years, the weekly publication of Kantipur, Saptahik had been publishing the list of top 10 Women and Men of the year on the Valentine’s Day. This year’s list include some top women in the country.
The list contains five new entries when compared to the last year’s list. New entries this year are actress Samragyee RL Shah, sports person Gaurika Singh, actress and director Deepa Shree Niraula, actress Keki Adhikari and sports person and actress Sipora Gurung.

Nepali beauty, Ronali Amatya as won the Miss congeniality title at the Miss Eco International 2017 beauty contest held in Egypt from April 1 to April 15. On the last day of the contest, Amatya was awarded with the title.

Miss Eco International 2017 winners
The crown of Miss Eco International 2017 title went to Miss Canada, Amber Bernachi from Ontario, Canada. The 27 years old beauty from Canada is the 1st runner-up to the Miss Universe Canada 2016. The 1.65m beauty, Amber Bernachi, was crowned the Miss International Canada 2016. Bernachi had also participated in Miss International 2017 held in Japan. She was one of the Top 15 in the contest. ‘Prem Geet 2’ features a new actress Aslesha Thakuri in place of Pooja Sharma in the first of the sequel. In ‘Prem Geet’ Pooja Sharma romanced with Pradeep Khadka, but in ‘Prem Geet 2’ Pradeep romances with Aslesha. It seems, Aslesha is a more open than Pooja Sharma in terms of showing off her body.

Box Office Film Club has annouced the nomintions of the nineth edition of Box Office Film Award in a program held in Kathmandu. The nominated artists were awarded with the nomination medal and certificate. The musical program also featured different singers and comedy actors. The final award is scheduled to be held in Toronto, Canada. The dates and the details of the award ceremony is yet to be confirmed.
In the award, 80 different movies released in the year 2072 were reviewed for the nomination. The 11-members jury included director Tulsi Ghimire, journalist Bijaya Rata Tuladhar, actor Dinesh Sharma, director Raju Adhikari, producer Subash Karki among others.
There were nominations in 46 categories including poster design to film halls. The categories overlap themselves. Almost every artists in the film industry have been nominated in the award. So, talking in details about all the nominated artists is waste of time and effort. So, I have just included the film and lead artists categories.
The actress Samragyee RL Shah was one of the most talked about actress of the year 2073. By the way she was covered in the media, it seems she was given more importance than she really deserves because:
No movies of Samragyee were released in the whole year, 2073. Although she signed in ‘A Mero Hajur 2’ and ‘Timi Sanga’, no trailer or music videos of the movies were released until the end of the year.
The movie, released previous year, in 2072, ‘Dreams’ was the debut movie of Samragyee and, her second movie is yet to release.
Samragyee wasn’t even active in the film industry or the entertainment industry before signing in her first movie, ‘Dreams’. Although Samragyee did some modeling assignments after participating and becoming the third in Classic Diamond contest, 2014, she is not much active in modelling.

Then why did she became so popular the whole year?
Let me analyze some of the facts that made her popular:
High price
After the success of ‘Dreams’, Samragyee took no time in hiking her price. Before the release of the movie, she had verbally agreed to do the movie ‘Summer Love’. But, when the movie became a hit, she reportedly demanded Rs. 5 lakhs to do the movie. That is the price unheard of from an actress in the Nepali movie industry, let alone from a new actress. After that, the ‘Summer Love’ team decided to search for another actress. They even search for a Nepali actress in Australia. But, at last, they found Rewati Chhetri – an Indian actress of Nepali origin. Rewati was one of the contestants of Miss India 2015.
Love affair
On the 21st birthday, Samragyee shared photos with Mayank Khadka. The photos showing her in close embrace with Khadka was the topic of discussion in media. Khadka reportedly went to Pokhara to meet Samragyee at the shooting location of ‘A Mero Hajur 2’. Samragyee however denied love affair and told that Mayank was her good friend . The first affair rumour of Priyanka that I heard of was one with actor Karma Shakya. The affair ended when she went to the USA for further studies.

Almost 3,000 guests have arrived at the party organized by ex-king Gyanendra Shah to mark the Bratabandha of his grandson Hridayendra Shah. The bratabandha itself was held last week. I wrote about the bratabandha and a video about the incident.
The bratabandha was held in a private ceremony held at their residence, Nirmal Niwas. Only a few photos of the event were made available.

UPDATE – Bomjon’s mother had gone to the police to help rescue her daughter, Bomjon’s younger sister, Ranjita Bomjon, when he abducted her. The following photo was published in a local daily ‘Prateek Daily’.

The Buddha Boy made news in international media when the news of his meditation spread like a fire in 2005-06. After that he has been making news in more negative than positive ones. Ram Bahadur Bomjon has renamed himself a difficult name and had conducted a Maitri Convention in Lalitpur. I prepared a video introduction of the self-claimed God (attached below).
Being God is not easy. And, Gods punish the bad people. May be that is what is doing by punishing people – kidnapping and beating and even killing his own sibling. According to a report published in Setopati, he was the cause of the death of his elder sister. He has also punished a guy in the forest area where he lives. According to the source quoted by Setopati, the guy is fighting for his life.
Bomjon and his followers keep their residence in a tight security surveillance. Nobody knows what happens in side the area inside a huge forest.

Karishma Manandhar accuses journalists while Hisila Yami says anti-partriotic slogan was a tongue slip
Nepali actress and the leader of Naya Shakti Nepal, Karishma Manandhar has accused journalists of fabricating the scenes of Hisila Yami chanting anti-patriotic slogan. Hisila was chanting “Yo Deshlai Kharej gar” (meaning “revoke this country”) while she was being transported away after being arrested by the police. It is clear that Hisila was chanting such a slogan after being stressed out of the protest program. She admitted her mistake and organized a press meet to explain the truth.
In the press meet, Hisila Yami admitted her mistake and told that she was tired and didn’t know what she was chanting at that time. She also expressed her love for the country and told that she would never mean to revoke the country. She told that she meant to revoke the election legislation that was passed recently.
What did Karishma say?
In the other hand – another leader of Naya Shakti Nepal party, actress Karishma Manandhar didn’t seem to have discussed the matter with Hisila or the party before accused the journalists of fabricating the news.

Karishma wrote the Facebook status in Nepali language. She wrote:
I am a film artist, I know the technology. Somebody dubbed the voice of Hisila Yami for her character assassination. They didn’t know, the voice in the open doesn’t have echo. Do some more dubbing and add more fake voices.
This is not the first political blunder of one of the most popular actress of the Nepali movie industry. Karishma’s mistakes during the inauguration ceremony of Naya Shakti Nepal had also made headlines.
Till last year, top 3 winners of Miss Nepal contests used to represent international beauty contests. Starting this year, one more Miss Nepal will represent Nepal in the international contest. The fourth placed winner of Miss Nepal 2017 will now go to Miss Asia Pacific beauty contest.
Miss Nepal in Miss Asia Pacefic
Although the fourth place winner of Miss Nepal is going to participate in Miss Asia Pacific beauty contest this year, this is not the first time Miss Nepal had participated in the contest. That was the first international beauty contests Miss Nepal used to go before the agreement with the Miss world beauty contest.
The first Miss Nepal, Ruby Rana, (in 1994) participated in Miss Asia Pacific 1994 in Philippines. After Ruby, Miss Nepal 1995 Sumi Khadka and Miss Nepal 1996 Punam Ghimire also participated in Miss Asia Pacific contests. Continue reading
To participate in the Miss Eco International 2017 beauty contest, Nepali beauty, Ronali Amatya has arrived in Cairo, Egypt. The beauty contest is scheduled to start on April 1 and runs till April 15.
Including the Nepali beauty, beauties from 80 different countries are participating in the contest.
Nepal in Miss Eco Tourism
Miss Eco International is an international beauty contest organized by LTCP Organization. The beauty contest with Beauty for Eco theme is geared towards the promotion of tourism and environment started in 2015 in Egypt. The first contest had participants from 60 countries.
In the 2015 edition the Miss Nepal Earth at that time, Prinsha Shrestha, had participated in the contest. The Miss Nepal organizer wasn’t happy by Prinasha’s participation in the contest and they had stripped her off the Miss Nepal Earth crown.
In the 2016 edition of Miss Eco International, Nagma Shrestha had represented Nepal. Nagma’s participation had been a successful participation as she had also won an award titled “Best Video Tourism”.
The bratabandha ceremony of the grandson of ex-king Gyanendra Shah, Hridayendra Shah was held at Nirmal Niwas on March 30, 2017. Media were not invited in the private ceremony. But, the son of Paras and Himani went to Hanuman Dhoka after the ceremony where the media had photo opportunity.

14 years old Hridayendra is the only son of ex prince Paras Shah and ex princess Himani Shah. If monarchy weren’t abolished, he would be in line to the throne of Nepal.
Baby King Concept
Hridayendra was dubbed ‘baby king’ by some political leaders in Nepal – arguing that he would be a better choice to be the king compared to former Crown Prince Paras Shah as Paras is not popular with the people. Scandals and actresses go hand in hand. Nobody can top the actress Rekha Thapa in terms of scandals. The actress with the potential to be the top actress, Priyanka Karki, is no less popular in terms of scandals. I have collected five top scandals Priyanka Karki has gone through in the past:
Actress Priyanka Karki had purchased and proudly showed-off, a vehicle.
Priyanka told that she was proud that she had paid the vehicle by her own income.
But, the news didn’t turn as Priyanka had expected. The online media accused Priyanka of using earthquake victim funds to purchase the vehicle. Priyanka had to write a long message to explain why she was hurt by the news.

The news were fake. Nobody could prove the accusation.

Jharana Thapa Birthday: A Mero Hajur 2 release date announced
The actress debuting as a director in ‘A Mero Hajur 2’, Jharana Thapa celebrated her birthday on March 26, 2016. During the celebration of the director, the release date of the movie was announced and a song was released online.
The movie is going to release on September 1, 2017 (that is – Bhadra 16, 2074 BS). After the announcement of the release date the title song of the movie was also released online. The song titled ‘A Mero Hajur’ was shot at the lake located at the highest point in the world. The song features the heart touching scenery.
