I have been sharing Tihar photos of Nepali celebrities for the last few years. Last year, I had shared 20 photos of celebrating Tihar. This year I wanted to continue the tradition by posting 20 more photos this year. I haven’t repeated the same celebrities but, most of them are the same every year. Although Bhai Tika is celebrated with brothers and sisters, they don’t need to be biological siblings. Those who don’t have their own siblings, or those who are separated because of living at different place, find one of their liking and make a temporary brother or sister for the festival.
Anmol KC is currently in the USA. He celebrated Tihar with his step-sister, Kajal KC in the USA. Kajal, her mother, Bijaya KC and her brother live in the USA. Bhuwan’s home production Kajal Films is named after Kajal KC.
When Rekha Thapa’s ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha went to Rekha’s upcoming movie ‘Rudra Priya’ premier with his to-be-wife Shilpa Pokharel, Shilpa and Rekha met and hugged each other. Chhabi and Shilpa went together but refused to be photographed together in the program.

The premier show of Rekha’s movie was held on October 16. The Rekha Thapa and Aryan Sigdel starrer movie is releasing on this Friday. In the premier Chhabi didn’t go to the stage but Shilpa went to the stage to meet Rekha Thapa. Rekha received Shilpa with a smile and hugged her. The scene was interesting as Rekha was an ex-wife of Chhabi and Shilpa is going to be wife in near future.
It was the first time these two actresses have met each other in a public function. Although journalists had requested Chhabi Raj Ojha to go to the stage and pose for the photograph with his ex and future wives, he refused.
Shilpa had entered Chhabi Ojha’s camp after Rekha had divorced after a decade long marriage and started her own production business.

‘Rudrapriya’ is releasing on Kartik 2 on Laxmi Pooja. The premier show was held on Monday at Kumari Theatre in Kathmandu. In the premier show the main actors of the movie Rekha Thapa, Aryan Sigdel, Rajan Ishan, director Sudip Bhupal Singh, producer Ramesh MK Poudel were present. Rekha Thapa has announced that her upcoming movie ‘Rudra Priya’ will release at the theatre and a TV station on the same day – on Kartik 2. In an announcement program held on October 9, 2017 Rekha Thapa told made the announcement. Rekha told, “I have viewers not only in the cities but also remote places in Nepal. There are no film halls in remote areas. For the viewers who don’t have film theatres near their homes, I have asked the viewers to watch the movie in TV.” She had also asked the viewers who live in places near theatres to go to the theatre to watch it.
‘Rudra Priya’ is not the first movie that is planning to release in TV and in theatre simultaneously. In Fulpati, ‘Mero Paisa Khoi’ was also released in Dish Home TV. But, the organization of theatre owners have protested the decision of the film producers to release them in TV at the same time as the film theatres.

After the TV station Dish Home purchase the TV rights of new movies to release on the same day as the release in theatre, the theatre owners have started to worry. After 8 years, actress Rekha Thapa and Aryan Sigdel have teamed up to be featured together in upcoming movie ‘Rudra Priya’. The movie director by Sudeep Bhupal Singh is produced by Ramesh MK Poudel as an executive producer. Rekha Thapa’s mother Saraswoti Thapa is named the producer of the movie.
Like all her previous movies, the upcoming movie is also told to be female-oriented movie. It features love, romance, and action. The actress in her 40s has decided that she needs to complete her high school. At the time the daughter is about to get her University degree, the mother, Karishma Manandhar has decided to complete her high school studies.
Karishma had left school when she was studying in grade 8. She never passed the grade as she was busy in acting. When she was engulfed in the limelight of the film world, she had no time for the books. But, from time to time, lack of education haunted Karishma.
Whenever she went out of the film industry, she realized how important education is. After a few initial movies, she went to Mumbai for acting training. She realized that she would have benefited more if she had studied more. When she went to the USA for a few years, lack of education was the main hurdle in getting jobs and even to get the Green Card. She went through English language training and learnt the language. The first look poster of upcoming Rekha Thapa movie, ‘Rudrapriya’ was released recently. In all the posters of the movie, half portion of actress Rekha Thapa is hidden by the hem of her Saree.
The poster of the movie made under Rekha Films banner is different from the posters of previous Rekha Films banner movies. The colour and the presentation style is quite different. There is a possibility that the different looks is becasue of the director, Sudip Bhupal Singh and his concept.

About ‘Kismat 2’
The movie is the sequel of superhit movie ‘Kismat’ featuring Rekha Thapa in leading role. The sequel features the new sweetheart of the producer, Chhabi Raj Ojha. According to Shilpa, the marriage between the two is confirmed and they are waiting for the ‘go-ahead’ message from the astrologer. The marriage rumour between the two helped the movie to get a lot of media attention. Although the success of ‘Lazza’ can also be attributed to a similar rumour during the release of the movie the rumour wasn’t found much effective during the release of their third movie. The original movie featured actress Rekha Thapa with Biraj Bhatt and Aryan Sigdel in leading roles. None of the original cast are repeated in the sequel. The original was written and directed by Ujjwal Ghimire but the sequel is directed by Rishi Lamicchhane.

I have covered in detail about the producer in previous posts and videos because he is considered one of the most successful film producers in Nepali movie industry. Previously he was the owner of Rekha Films until she divorced and took the banner with her. He is also credited to groom Rekha to become the top actress in the film industry. These days, Rekha is independently producing her movies. Now, Shilpa seem to be going in the same path. Shilpa was a co-producer of Chhabi in their upcoming movie ‘Mangalam’.

It is a surprising move by ‘Diarry’ to omit actress Rekha Thapa from its poster. A couple of posters released recently features only the producer/actress Chhulthim Gurung and the debut actor in the movie – Sunny Singh. Actress Rekha Thapa is featured in a negative role in the movie.

There was the time when Rekha Thapa could carry a film to success. Film producers would feature Rekha’s face in prominent position in the movie even when she is featured in a short/guest roles. ‘Dairrys’ attempt to ignore Rekha Thapa is an indication that it doesn’t need Rekha to be successful.
Let me analyze why ‘Diarry’ might be skeptical in featuring Rekha Thapa in it’s poster.
Flop Actress
Most of Rekha Thapa films have flopped in the recent past. Almost all of out-of-home-production banner films have flopped in the recent past and her last movie ‘Rampyari’ wasn’t as successful as expected.
As the schedule date of local level election, May 14, nears, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has revealed some of the details of the candidate for the poll. One of the candidate of RPP is actress Rekha Thapa.
The party hasn’t entrusted Rekha to be the Mayor but a Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Municipality. The Mayor candidate is Rajaram Shrestha. Rajaram was the ex-speaker of the party. Rekha was elected the Central Committee Member by the Party Convention held a while ago.
This is the first time the actress is competing in an election as a politician. Earlier she had taken the membership of CPN (Maoist). In the second Constitution Assembly Election, the party had selected her as the candidate of Parsa district. But, she had to denounce the candidacy because she had forgotten to register herself in the voter’s list.
