Today is Poush 14 – the birthday of late king Birendra Shah – the last king Nepali actually loved was King Birendra.
A rare photo of KP Oli, prime minister, with King Birendra in the following video:
Although I am no fan of monarchy, I appreciate King Birendra as a person. The royal massacre, that killed almost all of the royal family, was one of the most deadly and mysterious incident in the history of the world.
On his birthday, let me wish his soul rest in peace. Let’s go back in time and watch a few remarkable photos of the late king and the royal family of that time. Continue reading

What is in the unification document of CPN Maoist and CPN UML ?
CPN UML and CPN Maoist unification document was signed by
Prachanda (Puspa Kamal Dahal) and KP Oli. In addition to the party chiefs, Jhala Nath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Ishwor Pokharel from UML signed the document. From CPN Maoist Center, Prachanda, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Ram Bahadur Thapa had signed it. The agreement document states that two parties will be collectively called Communist Party of Nepal. They will have the Marxist-Leninist sub-title.
This is an odd debate. The history is clear but, what is uncertain is – which historical figure can be considered the ‘Prime Minister’ and which can’t. The official website of the office of the prime minster of Nepal states that there were 38 prime ministers so far. The list has some gaps in time line – showing it is clearly missing some of the acting prime ministers like Gyanendra Shah and Mahendra Shah.
I prepared the following video based on the information available in PM’s office:
The full ist:
38. K.P. Sharma Oli
– 1st. From 2014-10-11 to 2016-08-03 AD
– 2nd From 2018-02-13 (the current PM)
Ex-King, Gyanendra Shah had told in Bhai Tika that the time has come for him to play an active leadership role in the country. He told that the parties and the leaders have failed and he should play the leadership role to lead the country. While the Gyanendra supporters have rejoiced his statement, the political leaders and pundits have ridiculed Gyanendra’s statement as the return of monarchy in Nepali is virtually non-existant.
Talking in a program in Kathmandu the ex-prime minister, KP Sharma Oli challenged the ex-King to participate in the election and take the leadership role. In the program Oli didn’t name Gyanendra but told that, “Everybody who wants to lead the country can participate in the election and get the mandate of the people to lead the country. While KP Oli challenged the ex-king, other ex-prime ministers, Puspa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Jhala Nath Khanal were sitting beside Oli.

The girlfriend of the notorious don Dinesh Adhikari (Chari) is engaged to a UK resident Nepali, Santosh Karki. Miss Teen 2006, Khusbu’s boyfriend Chari was killed in a police encounter in August of 2014. In the engagement party held in Yak and Yeti Hotel, the prime minister KP Sharma Oli was also one of the guests. Until death, Chari was told to be under the protection of the CPN-UML leader and current prime minster KP Oli. There might be other relationships but, it seems the PM’s sympathy towards Khubsu might also be because was the girlfriend of the don under his protection.
A video report on the engagement of Khusbu Oli:
Criminal Chari’s mentor, KP Sharma Oli
Don Chari was under the political protection, specially the current PM, KP Oli. Whenever he was arrested by the police, the police were forced to let him go because of the political pressure. Many believe, including Khusbu Oli, that the police had carefully planned the encounter with Chari so that he was killed before being captured. If he were only captured, there was a high probability that he wouldn’t have been locked-in because of the political protection.
The following video contains an interview of KP Oli, before Chari was killed. The video sheds some lights on Oli’s thought on Chari:

The rely-hunger strike of film artists has ended on the 12th day of it’s start. CPN UML leader KP Oli told that the honorary PhD he received from a so-called-university is not fake and he is not willing to give it up.
After the news about the university being fake, most of the receivers of the honorary PhDs degree – Madan Krishna, Hari Bamsha and Kantipur’s Rameshowr Thapa have already given-up the degree with the exception for the two political leaders – KP Oli and Bijaya Kumar Gachhedar.
Nagarik reports that KP Oli, who is currently in the US, has told that he has studied the legal papers of the university and he is confident both the university and the degree he has received, are legal.
In a program, in which the the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subhash Newang, was the chief guest, high level officials and reputed personals were handed over fake honorary PhD certificates. The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Bijaya Kumar Gachhedar, UML leader KP Oli, Madan Krishna Shrestha, and Hari bamsha Acharya were some of the ‘lucky’ people to received the honorary PhD degree.
