"First Love" features Namrata Shrestha as guest artist

People have high expectation from Simosh Sunwar’s First Love. Although the movie was told to be based on an original story, it was later found that the story was copied from a 1982 Hollywood movie, The Last American Virgin. The success would certainly depend on how well Simosh has copied it.

The film crew had done a good job in hiding the fact that Namrata Shrestha is also featured in the movie. Many were surprised to see Namrata during the audio release of the movie but none suspected about her acting in the movie. It wasn’t until the premier, the fact about Namrata’s role in the movie was known.

Namrata’s role in the movie however is very short. She is acting in it as a guest actress and she appears at the end of the movie.

Renamed Krishnaa hits theaters in Kathmandu

Due to unavailability of theaters, many movies had to wait for years to be released. After such a long time, a lot of things change and to give an impression to the viewers that the movie is new, the producers change the names.

A movie released a fortnight back, ‘Sangharsha Jindagiko’ was named different before release. Similarly, another movie released on Friday, August 6, is also renamed ‘Krishnaa’ right before its release. The movie was shot by the name ‘Kholawari Kholapari’ but the producer wanted to the movie to reflect the current time by renaming it.

The producer of the movie RB Khatri thinks ‘Krishnaa’ was a modern name and is suitable for the movie just before it’s release. Viewers won’t be surprised if the movie needs a lot more additions to be complete.

The star cast in the movie however is very impressive. Rajesh Hamal, Rekha Thapa, Nikhil Upreti, are Nandiata KC the leading actors in the movie. In the initial days of the shooting, JB Rai was the director but, when he left the team, assistant director Sujan Lama had to take over the directing job.

The movie directed by Simosh Sunwar, ‘First Love’ was premiered in JayaNepal theater, Kathmandu on Thursday. The movie is released all over Nepal on Friday, August 6, 2010.

Before the premier ceremony, a cocktail party was organized for the movie technicians, journalists, and movie artists present in the ceremony.

First Love, produced by Narendra Maharjan and Madhav Wagle, features Aryan Sigdel, Nisha Sharma, Binaya Shrestha, Richa Sharma, and Sabin Shrestha in main roles. 

Increasing number of Film related Nepali websites

With increased number of films being made in recent time, film related websites are also in increasing trends. I have reviewed some film related websites.

The first film related magazine in Nepal was ‘Kamana‘ but they never made a good enough website to talk about. The group that publishes Kamana is not that interested in website and they are pretty happy with the printed publication. The screenshot on the right speaks volumes on its online presence.

As far as I know, the first dedicated film related website was filmnepal.com. The site is still there but it doesn’t get updated that frequently. The site is full of age-old stories that no one is interested in.

Nihita and Shakuntala released from jail

After 24 hours in jail, wife and mother-in-law of serial-killer, Charles Sobhraj, were released. In the court Nihita reportedly realized her mistake and told that it was unintentional. She also asked for mercy in the court. The issue however is not finalized yet. The proceeding will resume on Friday, August 6.

Nihita Biswas and her mother Shakuntala were arrested when the court proceedings took time to finish.

The Supreme Court ha
d summoned the mother and daughter to clarify their after-verdict reaction when Charles Sobhraj was convicted.

MaHa, congratulation for a Rs. 100K award!

Congratulation MaHa, for the selection to receive this year’s Basudev Luitel award!

MaHa, the Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya comedy artists duo, is selected to receive this year’s Basudev Luitel award for the theaters category. The award has a cash prize of Rs. 111,111.00.

Basudev Luitel award is given away in three different fields every years and theater is one of the fields. Selection of the winners of the other two fields, literature and cartoon art, is yet to be announced.

The prize is distributed on the birthday of Basudev Luitel on Bhadra 23 (this year, September 8, 2010).

Sherchan, the oldest Everest conquer, arrested?

Update: It is reported that Min Bahadur is accused of swindling Rs 2.5 million. He was caught after a tip off by a team of four to five conmen who were arrested at Maitighar, Kathmandu. The police has told that he will be taken to Pokhara for further investigation. Sherchan has refuted the accusation but, has also expressed his readiness to help the police.

An online newspaper, onlinekhaber, has reported that the oldest Mt. Everest conquer, Min Bahadur Sherchan, has been arrested in Kathmandu.

Biratako Chino Premiered in Australia (photos)

On August 1, 2010, producer and director Shankar Ghimire premiered his movie ‘Biratako Chino’ in Australia. Actress and Shankar’s wife Richa Ghimire was also present in the show. The movie features Biraj Bhatta, Suman Singh, Richa Ghimire, Rejina Upreti, and Ranjana Sharma in the leading roles.

The music score of the movie, based on a patriotic story, is prepared by Suresh Adhikari. The movie is scheduled to be screened on August 15 in Perth.

Charles Shobhraj has tied knot with Nihitain the high security jail in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. However, the Nepal government has claimed that it is not possible in jail. This video shows the wedding photos of Shobhraj and Nihita.

This video is in Hindi by a Hindi news channel Aaj Tak.
It is to be noted that much of the contents of the video are same in many videos and the reporters are trying to highlight their points by bringing up unnecessary stuffs.

Nihita Bishwas in trouble – SC summon’s Sobhraj’s wife and mother-in-law

The wife and mother-in-law of of convicted murderer Charles Sobhraj have brought themselves trouble due to the after-verdict reaction. Sakuntala Thapa, a lawyer and mother of Nihita Biswas, accused the judges of corruption while taking the decision.

In response to the Shanta Sedhain and Rajan Adhikari’s court application on Sunday, the Supreme Court (SC) of Nepal has ordered the two to be present in SC within three days, with their clarification. If they fail to appear in the court, the police might arrest them.

If convicted, Sakuntala and Nihita will face up to a years behind bars or a fine of ten thousand rupees or both.

Charles Sobhraj sentenced to life – Nihita smells foul

The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday upheld Patan Appellate Court’s decision to convict French national Charles Gurumukh Sobhraj on the charge of murders. Sobhraj has also been convicted for possessing fake passport.

Nihita Biswas, the wife of the ‘Bikini Killer’, Charles Sobhraj, has again tried to get a wide media coverage by accusing the Supreme Court judges for corruption on the final decision to convict Sobhraj for life. Sobhraj’s lawyer and mother-in-law, Shakuntala Thapa, argued that her client was denied justice and treated unfairly.

The 66-yr old Frenchman was sent to jail after being arrested in 2003 in the charge of murdering two foreign nationals in 1975. The Kathmandu District Court convicted him of murder in 2004 when he was found guilty of killing a US national, Connie Jo Bronzich and a Canadian Armond Carriere in 1975.
