Today, on Friday, March 18, 2016 two Nepali movies – ‘Bhaag Saani Bhaag’ and ‘Lakshya’ are released. the movie featuring Keki Adhikari and Sabin Shrestha had been highly promoted in various parts of the country including Pokhara, Chitwan and other cities by the lead actors Keki and Sabin.
The movie directed by Nawal Nepal featuring Keki Adhikari, Sabin Shrestha, Nir Shah, Laya Sangraula, Ramesh Budhathoki, Gita Adhikari, Rabindra Khadka, and Sushil Pokharel in main roles is produced by musician Chetan Sapkota. A presentation of MK Entertainment, the Nepali movie ‘Punarjanma’ is a story of an army officer. The movie written by Sudarshan Shrestha features cinematography of Shiva Dhakal / Nawaraj Krishna Thapa, action by Asta Maharjan, music by Basanta Sapkota / Jayant Sharma, background score by Alis Karki, and produced by Bhadra Bahadur Shahi. The movie was one of the top 10 movies released in the year 2071 according to the Box Office Club. Told to be based on a real story, the movie ‘Punarjanma’ was released in theater on March 6, 2015.

It is to be noted that Shilpa Pokahrel is featured the lead actress in Karishma’s last week release ‘Fagu’. Although, all the movies of Shilpa released so far are hit (both ‘Lazza’ and ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ were hit and ‘Fagu’ is doing well in theater) Karishma has placed her in the fifth place.
Nepali actresses and others gathered at Maitighar Mandala on the evening of February 6 to remember late Neha Pun, the Magar film actress raped and killed in Pokhara. At the time when the murderer is yet to be identified the actresses and model in Kathmandu have gathered to pay homage to the deceased soul. The remembrance event called by actresses Richa Sharma was supported by the actresses and models.

This week on January 15, 2016 two new Nepali movies are releasing in theater. Both the movies – director Sabitri Khatri’s ‘Kafal Pakyo’ and Suwarna Thapa’s movie ‘Fanko’ were highly publicized movies. Both the movies were shown to the Nepali viewers in foreign countries before their official release. The movies are being released on Magh 1, the Makar Sakranti festival in Nepal.
The movie ‘Kafal Pakyo’ features Jiwan Luitel, Barsha Raut, Mukesh Acharya, Laya Sangarula and Uttam KC in leading roles. The movie directed by Sabitri Khatri features the music of Bikash Chaudhary, script of Pradeep Bhardwoj and is made under Red Panda banner.
The movie is made on comedy theme. The movie shows the travel from Kathmandu to Gulmi in romantic way. The Actor Jiwan is featured as a village guy and actress Barsha Raut is featured as a modern tom-boy. The relationship between the two is the whole movie.

The red carpet premier of Nepali movie ‘Fanko’ was held on Wednesday, January 13 in Kumari theater in Kathmandu. In the event, the cast and the crew members of the movie joined the guests to watch the movie.
The movie has been highly promoted and a few premiers were done in some cities in Europe earlier. The movie directed by Suwarna Thapa is produced by Narendra Maharjan, Sahadev Gautam and Padma Gurung. The movie featured Priyanka Karki, Dayahang Rai, Keki Adhikari, Saugat Malla and Anup Baral in lead roles. The movie is made on the story of characters of living in highway for money.
There was high hopes from the movie released on Friday, ‘Bagmati’. The movie featuring well known actors like Rajesh Hamal, Shiva Shrestha, and Keki Adhikari was told to have produced spending the highest production cost in the history of Nepali films. The movie directed by a South Indian director and the technicians, was also well promoted. But, the final result is considered below average by most of the viewers and even the actors. The lead actor, Rajesh Hamal, in his Facebook post that he is sad that the movie was left incomplete.
Rajesh had watched the movie with his wife Madhu Bhattarai and Shiva Shrestha. After watching the movie he has appreciated the cinematography and thrill but was apparently not happy by the execution of the movie. He has also revealed that the details of the sequel wasn’t worked out with the film artists. He has also expressed his dissatisfaction on the return back of the director Sunny Kerala back to India a day before the release of the movie.
The governments won’t let it happen but, the information technology is doing its best to make the world a borderless place. The Western cultural influence has been more evident in the Nepal these days. After the widespread popularity of Christmas, Halloween has also gained some grounds these days. The festival of ghost and scare, Halloween is fun festival for children and adults alike. With the general public some celebrities have also celebrated Halloween this year. Halloween is a festival of remembering the dead people in the family. It is celebrated by the people of Christian faith. But, because of the fun aspects of the festival, people of other religion also celebrate it in Western countries. Costumes, candies and Trick-or-Treating is more like the combination of our Deusi – Bhailo in Tihar and Gaijatra festival.

The third edition of INAS Film Award was held in Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi in Kathmandu. The award ceremony held on Sunday awarded director Tulsi Ghimire with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award has has a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. The award ceremony was organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRN) and the Film Development Board (FDB). In the program, NRN Upendra Mahato appreciated in the improvement in the quality of Nepali movies. Actor and musician Muralidhar expressed his happiness to be honored in a Nepali film award ceremony.

In a special ceremony held in Kathmandu on September 20, 2015, the new constitution of Nepal was unveiled by the president Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at the Constitution Assembly (CA) in Kathmandu. The constitution was written after an 8-years-long writing process spanning two Constitution Assemblies. Although there are still some people who are not satisfied by the new constitution, ninety percent of CA members had endorsed it. The citizens of Terai region have complained that the Constitution hasn’t incorporated their demands. As the new Constitution can easily be amended by 2/3 majority in the parliament, all the concerns can easily be incorporated in future amendments. According to reports, the new Constitution is the most democratic Constitution in the history of Nepal. On the completion of the lengthy constitution writing process, the film artists have welcomed it and have congratulated everybody for the achievement.
