Shristi Shrestha to debut in theater, as Ophelia

The Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha, is going to debut in theater in Shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet. Shristi will be featured as the character Ophelia in the play. The play in is being played in association with the British Council, Theater Village and the British Embassy in Kathmandu.

The play in Nepali language is directed by Gregory Thompson in association with Bimal Subedi. The play is going to start at the Bhaktapur Durbar Square on October 12, 2015 at 6:00 PM. The regular shows of the play will start on December 17, 2015 till January 11, 2016 at Theater Village.

Reema Bishowkarma couple donated honeymoon fund for film artists welfare

Actress and model Reema Bishowkarma and her newly wed husband Robert Bishwokarma have donated the fund they had set aside for the honeymoon trip to the Film Artists Welfare Fund of Film Development Board (FDB). Reema and Robert handed over the fund to actress Jharana Thapa, the coordinator of the Film Welfare Fund, in an event in Kathmandu. 

Reema and Robert were planning to go to Maldives or Paris for honeymoon. As the honeymoon plan was canceled for now, they decided to donate the amount for good cause. Jharana was recently appointed to coordinate the social wing of FDB. In the fund handing over ceremony, Reema’s husband Robert was also with her.

600 episodes of Tito Satya, Woda Number Chha released out of Kathmandu

Popular comedy serial ‘Tito Satya’ has celebrated its 600th episode on Thursday, October 1, 2015. It has been 12 years since the weekly comedy serial started its tele-cast in Nepal Television. In the past 12-years the theme of the serial was similar – making fun of the current events and portraying the life of a typical resident of Kathmandu. Because of Kathmandu focus of the serial, the serial wasn’t less popular in places out of the valley. Another similar serial ‘Meri Bassai’ was more of the life in villages and was popular among the people from villages. These two and another serial ‘Jire Khursani’ had been quite popular in Nepal Television for a long time. A new comedy serial ‘Bhadragol’ has also gained a lot of popularity these days.

The director and the writer of the serial, Deepak Raj Giri has realized the theme being the same for a dozen years and has promised to change it for the betterment in coming days. Starting this week, Deepak is planning to change the artists, story, style and the message. Deepak told that he will introduce new artists and Deepak will appear less in the future episodes.

Nepali Film industry suffers as India blocks petroleum

Because of the shortage in petroleum after India blocked the tankers from entering Nepal at the border, Nepali film industry has suffered a lot. As the vehicular movement is restricted in Nepal, the release of new movies have been canceled and film shooting have been delayed.

‘Destination Kathmandu’ release canceled

According to reports, the movie scheduled to release this Friday – ‘Destination Kathmandu’ has been canceled at the last minute. According to the executive director Madhusudhan Bhattarai, director Deepak Rayamajhi‘s last movie will not release on October 2 as planned before. The movie featuring Dilip Rayamajhi and Jharana Thapa in leading role was halted for a while after the death of the director Deepak Rayamajhi in 2011. Later, Madhusudhan had completed the movie.

This is the second time the movie release has been postponed. Previously the movie was scheduled to release on May 8 but, because of the earthquake of April 25, the movie release was delayed.

The movie previously released in Kathmandu, ‘Woda Number Chha’ is going to release in theaters out of Kathmandu on this Friday.

Shooting halted

Because of the problem in transportation, the shooting of Bhuwan KC‘s debut movie as the director, ‘Dreams’ shooting has also been affected. The resumption of the shooting of Bhuwan’s song Anmol KC starrer movie is uncertain.

Nisha Adhikari to climb Kilimanjaro mountain in October

The first Nepali actress to climb Mt. Everest, Nisha Adhikari, has announced her next climb – Mt. Kilimanjaro mountain, the highest peak in Africa. Nisha is going to Africa on September 30 to start the ascent on October 1. According to Nisha’s schedule, she will reach the peak on October 9, 2015.

Nisha is planning to take the National Flag of Nepal to the top of Kilimanjaro. It is the same flag that Nisha had taken to the top of Mt. Everest. With the Nepal’s flag, Nisha will also take the flag of the Nepali Artists Association to the top.

In a press meet organized in Kathmandu, Nisha told that she represents Nepal to climb the mountain. In the press meet artists like Krishna Malla, Rabindra Khadka, Nawal Khadka, Yogendra Khadka and Laxmi Giri were present.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro mountain is a volcanic mountain located in Tanzania. The highest mountain in Africa is 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) above sea level. The mountain is one of the major climbing destinations in the world. The first recorded climber of the mountain were Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller who reached the peak in 1889.

Actress Reema Bishowkarma marries a UK NRN

Actress Reema Bishowkarma has married her lover of a year, Robert Lungun Bishowkarma in a ceremony held at Hotel Hyatt in Bouddha, Kathmandu. The event was held on September 27, 2015 among the friends and family of the bride and the groom. Reema and Robert had secretly engaged and the news of the marriage was unveiled a couple of days earlier to the actual event.

Reema’s movie ‘Bhale Fight’ was released on Friday and she was busy in the promotion of the movie days before the marriage. Reema had chosen the movie’s release date to introduce her husband to the media. Reema and Robert have promised that Reema will continue to work in entertainment sector even after the marriage.

The couple have invited their friends and family in the evening for a reception party.

Nisha Adhikari returns Nepal, timed for Lootera promotion?

After living three months in the USA, actress Nisha Adhikari, has returned back to Nepal. Nisha had left Nepal amidst rumor of her breakup and wasn’t expected to return back so soon. Nisha however had reticulated the break up rumors and had told that it was only a vacation tour. Proving herself right, Nisha has returned back on September 23, 2015. She seems to have timed the return to Nepal such that she could promote her upcoming movie ‘Lootera’ before it goes in theater on November 13. The movie featuring Nikhil Upreti is an awaited movie after the success of his comeback movie ‘Bhairav’.

Nisha wrote, “Home is where my family is. Traveling from one home to another. Thank you for being there dada.” She has indicated that she is excited to come back to the country with new constitution. Nepal has adopted the new constitution earlier this week.
