About ‘Kohinoor’

The last movie of Shree Krishna Shrestha was produced by Shree Krishna himself. The movie was released a day before Shree’s death.
A presentation of Nepa Movies, ‘Kohinoor’ is the second movie of Shree Krishan Shrestha as a producer. Shree Krishna’s debut movie as producer and debut movie of Sweta Khadka ‘Kaha Bhetiyala‘ became a super hit movie. The affair between Sweta and Shree started in the movie and converted into marriage recently. The movie written and directed by Aakash Adhikari is jointly produce by Sweta, Shree Krishna, Shankar Shrestha and Chandra Prasad Shrestha.

The movie features music of Shambhujit Baskota, choreography of Basanta Shrestha, action of Rajendra Khadgi, cinematography of Raju Bikram Thapa and editing of Banish Shah. The script and dialogue is written by Ram Thapa and the lyrics are written by Kiran Kharal, Dr. Krishnahari Baral, Sundar Shrestha and Aakash Adhikari.

D Cine Awards 2015, November Rain wins the most award (full list)

The winners of the Digital Cine Award 2072, organized by Chhaya Chhabi Creation was announced in a special program held in Kathmandu on December 21, 2015. In the award ceremony, the movie ‘November Rain’ bagged the most award – a total of eight awards including the best actors, best actress, best director awards.

While ‘November Rain’ became the best movie, ‘Bhimdatta’ was awarded the Critics Award and ‘Sunpani’ became the Special Film. Late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha‘s movie ‘Kohinoor’ was awarded the public choice award. Producer and film distributor Gopal Kayastha and actress Gauri Malla were awarded with Chhaya Chhabi Film Artist honor award. Film journalist Dabbu Chhetri was awarded the Chhaya Chhabi Film Journalism Award of value Rs. 7,777.

Top 5 nominations in D Cine Award 2015 (Full list)

The nominations for the upcoming movie award, D Cine Award has been released. The 7th edition of the cinema award is one of the many Nepali film awards being held by various organizations. The Award has teamed up with CG (Chaudhary Group, the business organization of Binod Chaudhary) this year to rename it LG D Cine Award 2072. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Mangsir month.

The nomination list is prepared from the movies released in the year 2071 BS. There will be 38 different categories of the award in the award ceremony. The award organizer has told that most of the 82 movies released in the year have participated in the award.

The jury members of the Award ceremony are writer and director Mohan Niraula, journalist and director Bijayaratna Tuladhar, musician Santosh Shrestha, and the first female cinematographer of Nepal Sabanam Mukhiya. Three movies out of the 5 nominations for best movies are available to watch in xnepali.

NEFTA Awards – winners (full list, video)

BesLike previous years the Nepali film awards by the association of Nepali film technicians, NEFTA, was held in foreign soil. This year’s award ceremony was held in Qatar. In the ceremony held among 8,000 audience award on various categories were handed over to the winners. Winning 5 different awards, ‘Talakjung Vs. Tulke’ became the best movie this year.

Rekha Thapa announces, no Nepali award for her movies

Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has announced that she and her home production movies won’t participate in any Nepali movies award ceremony. She has accused the organizers of manipulating them to award the films of their choice based on personal influences and money.

Rekha has termed all the award ceremonies in Nepal as ‘Room Awards’.

This is not the first time Rekha has expressed her dissatisfaction. Last year, at this time Rekha had accused National Award organizers of asking money for award. She didn’t even go to receive one award she won at that time. Rekha was also accused of not participating in an award ceremony when she couldn’t persuade the organizers to hand her the Best Actress Award.

Sweta Khadka to donate Kohinoor collection in the USA to earthquake victims

Actress Sweta Khadka has expressed deep sorrow on the devastating earthquake in Nepal. The actress currently in the USA for her treatment and to show the movie Kohinoor has told that she also wants to help the victims. To show her support she has announced that all the income made by the movie show in the USA will go towards the earthquake relief in Nepal.

In addition to support, Sweta has also asked everybody to be strong and deal with the problem. She also asked people to say our family and help everybody in whatever way they can.

10 movies of the year by Box Office Club include Kohinoor and Nai Nabhannu La 2

Box Office Film Club has honored 10 movies in an event held in Nagarkot at the end of the year 2071. Like previous years, the Club has selected the most successful movies in the year. Out of the movies released on the last Friday of 2070 to the last end of 2071 top ten movies were awarded with different honors.

The movie ‘Kohinoor’ was awarded the Super Duper Bumper Block Buster movie of the year 2071. The movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ (watch ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ here) was awarded Super Duper Hit honor. ‘Kabaddi’ (watch ‘Kabaddi’ here) and ‘Jerryy’ (watch ‘Jerryy’ here) were awarded Hit movie honors.

Kohinoor piracy, chor police game goes on

When a copy of super-hit movie of late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha, ‘Kohinoor’ appeared in YouTube, the producer/director Aakash Adhikari was shocked. After submitting a complaint YouTube removed the movie. But, some more users uploaded the movie again.

In the last few days multiple copies of the movie were uploaded in different user names. It looks like somebody is playing chor (thief) and the producer is playing police and submitting complaints to the video host before it removes it.

Aakash Adhikari organized a press meet on Wednesday to announce that the pirated copy was removed from the site. But, when we checked YouTube on Friday, there was at least one copy of the movie in the site (screenshot attached below).

Sweta Khadka to live like a sister and daughter in Shree Krishna family

Sharing a group photo of Shree Krishna Shrestha‘s family actress Sweta Khadka has told that she is going to accept the family as her own home. In a Facebook post Sweta told, “I would like to live as a daughter and sister in this family.”

Kohinoor, 51 days in theater celebrated

The last movie of Shree Krishna Shrestha, ‘Kohinoor’, celebrated the milestone, 51 days in theater in a program held on September 27. The Communication Minister Dr. Minendra Rijal was the chief guest of the program held in Kathmandu.

The program appreciated the media and personnel that helped in making and promoting the movie.

Sweta Khadka promises to meet the public ‘soon’

Actress and the widow of late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha, Sweta Khadka, has told that she will meet her fans in near future. In a message posted in Facebook, Sweta thanked everybody for the love and support during the bad time. She appreciated and thanked viewers, artists, journalists and media for the success of ‘Kohinoor’.

Sweta added, “I had never thought I would go through such a dreadful time. I will never forget this incident and even if I try hard I would probably never be happy again.”

Sweta Khadka watches Kohinoor, cried all the time

In a VIP show of ‘Kohinoor’ organized in Kumari theater on September 1, 2014 Sweta Khadka, the actress and widow of late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha watched the movie with Shree Krishna’s 82 years-old mother. Sweta cried throughout the two and half hours-long movie she produced jointly with Shree Krishna Shrestha.

Sweta and Shree Krishna had promised to watch the  movie with the viewers after its release. Although Shree Krishna couldn’t make it because of his death the next day of the movie’s release, Sweta kept the promise on the 25th day of the release of the movie.

Kohinoor – viewers flock to theater to pay tribute to Shree Krishna Shrestha

The movie of late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha, ‘Kohinoor’ saw a rare success of Nepali movies. The viewers have been visiting the theaters to pay tribute to Shree. In a new record, after 1 week of release, the movie grossed Rs. 9.7 million on a single day. The record made on Saturday is considered a new record in Nepali movie industry. So far, the movie has made Rs. 34.1 million.

Almost all of the theaters featuring the movie are houseful and many have returned back when they couldn’t get the ticket to watch the movie. Many of the viewers have told that they are watching the movie to pay tribute to the actor.

Shree Krishna Shrestha died in New Delhi

While being treated in New Delhi, actor Shree Krishna Shrestha had died on August 9, 2014. Shree Krishna had married Sweta Khadka a month ago (on July 7) and they were told to be on a honeymoon tour to India.

Because of the serious illness, Sweta and Shree Krishna couldn’t participate in the promotion of their movie ‘Kohinoor’. In a press meet held last month, the director of the movie, Aakash Adhikari had almost cried while talking about the actor. In a message sent from the hospital bed, Shree Krishna had told that he will be back soon. The movie ‘Kohinoor’ was released on this Friday.

Friday Release – Kohinoor and Shisha

‘Kohinoor’ premier show held

The movie produced and led by the couple Shree Krishna Shrestha and Sweta Khadka, ‘Kohinoor’ was released in theaters on Friday, August 8. Although a grand premier show was canceled, a show was also held in Kumari Theater in Friday morning among some journalists and film personalities.

Another movie released in theater was ‘Shisha’. A movie directed by RBK Sharad is a romance, action and social drama movie. The movie featuring Jiwan Luitel, Uma Baby, Ragini Khadgi, Nirmal Senchuri, Dipesh Bhandari, Shreya Duala was shot in Sikkim and Nepal. The movie also feature Indian football player Bhaichung Bhutiya. 

Shree Krishna and Sweta had sent an audio message telling that they won’t be present in the release and promotion of the movie because of Shree’s sickness and treatment in India.
