In a religious ceremony Rekha Thapa got married to a Bar (Banyan) tree. Banyan is viewed as the male counterpart of female plant peepal. In Hindu religion, banyan tree represents immortality.
Rekha conducted a yagya ceremony and a religious puja. Although she hasn’t revealed the reason behind the puja, some believe it has something to do with her upcoming movie ‘Kali‘. Rekha is planning to release the movie in Dashain to compete with her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s ‘Loafer’.
An upcoming movie, ‘Jatra’ is going to feature actress Namrata Shrestha and actor Saugat Malla in lead roles. The movie will be the first movie in which these popular actors will be acting in opposite roles. Previously, Saugat and Namrata were also featured in ‘Chadke’.
Actress and producer Rekha Thapa has announced the release date of her upcoming movie ‘Kali’ on Dashain, Fulpati day, Ashoj 25 (October 11, 2013). The day coincides with the release date of her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s production ‘Loafer’.
After Rekha and Chhabi divorced, Chhabi registered Chhabi Raj Films and produced the first movie ‘Hamesha’ in association with Rekha’s Rekha Films. But, in his second movie – ‘Loafer’, Chhabi introduced a new actress, Rajani KC in the leading role. Rekha also started ‘Kali’ on her own to compete with Chhabi.
In an interview with a TV program actress Rekha Thapa told that she is not interested in getting married again. But, she also added that she wanted to be a mother. After the divorce with her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha Rekha is living with her mother. She is currently shooting her upcoming movie ‘Kali’.
Rekha wanted to make a life partner out of wedlock and live with him. To give examples of women living without a male partner, she gave the examples of Nepali actresses like Mithila Sharma and Koma Oli.
We believed Rekha Thapa‘s ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha was her godfather in the Nepali movie industry. But, there is no point in thinking otherwise if Rekha herself tells that Naresh Poudel is the godfather instead.

Nepali comedy actor Kiran KC has announced to award a film journalist and an artists on his birthday every year. Starting next year, he is planning to award Rs. 10,000 each to the best journalist and the best artist of the year.
To ensure timely distribution of award, Kiran KC has setup an award fund. Kiran KC is planning a special program on his birthday on Ashad 15 to distribute the awards to the deserving candidates. Kiran KC being a comedy artists, he is planning to start the award with comedy artists.
After the successful treatment of cancer, 42-years-old Bollywood actress of Nepali origin, Manisha Koirala, has returned back to India. According to reports, she landed in Mumbai on June 26, 2013.
Last week, she met Nepali community members of New York to share her cancer treatment experiences. In the first public appearance after the start of her cancer treatment, she thanked all her family and friends. She also announced her plan to return back to Mumbai in a week.

Actress Rekha Thapa’s upcoming movie ‘Kali’ is currently in floor. Rekha has shared some photos from the shooting and it seems her role is confusing in lights of her past movies.
In the past few movies, Rekha Thapa has been featured in similar roles. The female oriented movies are named similar and confusing – ‘Kali’ is currently in production and ‘Durga’, ‘Rawan’ and ‘Lanka’ are already released. Although Rekha has told that her roles in these movies are different, she looks same (in police uniform) in ‘Lanka’ and ‘Kali’ (see the photo below).
For the first time since she was diagnosed of cancer, actress Manisha Koirala has met the Nepali residents of New York. In a program organized to welcome the actress, Manisha went with her parents and enjoyed the feast. She talked about the past and her future plans and told that she is cured of cancer now.
Because of the side effects of chemotherapy, Manisha doesn’t have hair on her head. In the program she had worn a head cover and a hat to conceal her head. In a report, Manisha seemed cheerful, healthy and happy. Nepali actress and cancer survivor Gauri Malla was also present in the event.

The first movie of Chhabi Raj production was jointly produced by Rekha Films and Chhabi Raj Films. Now, Chhabi has started his own ‘Lofar’ without Rekha and Rekha has gone to the floor with ‘Kali’ without Chhabi. At this time, I recall Rekha posting a photo of herself and Chhabi exactly two years ago with quote – "with my miyau…" Time sure has changed a lot.
Nepali actress Namrata Shrestha went to Bal Mandir in Naxal to celebrate her 27th birthday. The event was organized by the team of her upcoming movie ‘Maun’. To celebrate her birthday, Namrata cut the cake and feed the students. The director of ‘Maun’ Suraj Bhusal also feed the cake to the student.
Apart from celebration of Namrata’s birthday, a first look poster of the movie was also released in the program. With a tagline “a loud silence” the love story movie features Arpan Thapa and Namrataa Shrestha in the leading roles. The story and script of the movie is written by Arpan Thapa and is jointly produced by Navin Gauli and the director Bhushal.
It has been some time the controversial journalist Rishi Dhamala got married to Eliza Gautam. He organized a huge party at Army Club in Kathmandu to celebrate the marriage. Every high level party leaders and government official were invited along with film artists, business men and other people.

Actor Rajesh Hamal has turned 49 years old on June 9. Born in a hospital in Palpa in 1964, Rajesh has been active in the Nepali film industry for the last quarter century.
Rajesh Hamal debuted in Yugdekhi Yugsamma’ in 1989 and managed to win the National award for the role in the movie. Rajesh Hamal had done masters in English literature from Chandigadh University and was one of the most educated person in the film industry.
