Movie Review – Phool

Nepali movie Phool is released all over Nepal on May 4, 2012. We had posted a pre-release review of ‘Phool’ earlier.

Featuring a lot of big star casts, New Nepali film ‘Phool’ is released all over Nepal. ‘Phool’ is the directorial venture of Shiva Regmi, popular of directing entertaining and emotional movies. ‘Phool’ features Raj Ballav Koirala, Niraj Baral, Garima Pant, Nir Shah and Yuvaraj Lama in leading roles.

Story:

‘Phool’ is a story of two army officers Dorje Lama and Birdhoj Karki. Both dream of getting married and living happily in a small house. Both of them both fell in love with a owner of a hotel, named Maya. Maya promised to marry both of them but eventually, she elopes with someone else. The frustrated two decided not to marry in their lives. In a temple of Hanuman, Dorje and Birodhoj found a new born child and took the child home as a God gift. The child Ashmi (played by Garima Pant) grows up to become a beautiful young girl.  Attracted to the beauty of Ashmi, two boys, Rahul (Niraj baral) and Avisekh (Raj Ballav Koirala), start chasing her. There is a twist in the story in the movie when Ashmi, Rahul and Avisekh met an unknown women. You need to go to theatre to get all these answers.

Increasing number of music video directors have started making feature films. Jeewan Rashaili is one of those testing waters in big screen film making. Story:

My Life‘ is a love story of Prabhu (Suraj RD), a MBBS student and his love to Gauri (Jharana Thapa). Gauri’s brother helps Prabhu to win the heart of Gauri. Another character, Raghu (Kamal Krishna) is a rich businessman involved in drug business. When Raghu found out that his sister has fallen in love with Gauri’s brother Raghu tries to kill Gauri and her brother. With a lot of controversies and publicity from sexually aggressive posters and promos, Chapali Height is released all over major theaters in Nepal. The third directorial venture of Dipendra K Khanal and second movie produced by Arjun Kumar, Chapali Height, has a story of sex for adult audience. Hence, it has received an Adult certificate from the censor board of Nepal.

Story:

Chapali Height is a story of Amir (Amir Gautam) , Bineeta (Binita Baral) and Raj (Raj Ghimire). Amir and Bineeta come from Pokhara to live in Raj’s house at Chapali Height where he is living alone. After spending some time there, relationship between Amir and Bineeta becomes sour and an accident commences the main story of the movie. Movie Review – Sathi Ma Timro

At the time when two or even four movies are being released every week, there was only one movie released this week – Bhuwan KC’s “Sathi Ma Timro”. “Sathi Ma Timro” is a story of a struggling movie producer and his son, played by child artist Shirshak Sapkota in leading role.

Story:

Saathi ma timro is a story of a son Avisekh K.C (Bhuwan K C), a struggling film producer trying to fulfill his father’s wish. In his movie venture, Avisekh lost everything including his wife Puja (Richa Ghimire), his house, his car, and his luxurious life. All he was left with was his son Anmol (played by Shirshak Sapkota). Although, he had numerous problems in pursuing his father’s dream project, a movie named Saathi Ma Timro, he tried his best to keep his son Anmol from being aware of such problems. A struggling actress Ashmi (Rekha Thapa) was impressed by Avisekh got attracted towards him. Although deep inside she loved Avisekh, she couldn’t express her love to him.

Will Avisekh be able to finish his father’s dream project? Will his little son Anmol know about the problems his father faced? Will Ashmi be able to express her love to Avisekh? Will Puja come back in the life of Avisekh?

Loot – new confidence in Nepali movie industry

Our congratulation to Loot for it’s 51 days celebration on Friday, March 2, 2012 !

This year had been a bit different for Nepali film industry. There used to be a trend in our film industry that, a movie require star cast to be a hit. This year, neither nor Rekha Thapa could ensure a good box office collection. At the same time, new director, new music director, and few struggling actors in ‘Loot‘ proved that a good movie doesn’t need star cast.

Yes, ‘Loot’ is still running in theaters and is extending its market to overseas too.

The fact that ‘Loot’ has become a hot cake topic among the film makers and movie goers left me wondering: is it such a wonderful movie? Should everybody watch it ?

Movie Review – Miss U

The most awaited and hoped-for Nepali movie, Miss U, is released today in theatres all over Nepal. The movie features a story of three best friends, played by Namrata Shrestha, Dillip Raymajhi and Barun Rana. The movie tries to prove the saying that, a boy and a girl can’t be best friend forever. Friends of opposite sex, at some point, can fall in love and either their friendship gets scattered or, becomes weaker or, they might at best be happy couple.

Story:

Miss U‘ is the story of three best friends Sanjh (Barun Rana) , Sakshyam (Dillip Raymajhi) and Jasmine (Namrata Shrestha). Their friendship probably started in some foreign college they went together. They have a desire to stay best friends forever. Sanjh falls in love with Jasmine from the beginning but, couldn’t express his feelings towards her. On an incident in a pub, Jasmine came to know about his feelings towards her and accepts his love towards her. In one occasion when Sanjh was in Nepal to meet his family in Dashain, Sanjh and Sakshyam got drunk and had a physical relationship. The Dashain celebration incident is the turning point in the story of the three best friends. Revealing what happens after that would spoil the fun of watching the movie.

Movie Review – Kathmandu

Background

Thousands of people enter Kathmandu, the capital, from different parts of Nepal for the search of opportunities and fulfill their dreams. At the same time, many leave to tend their wounds when their dreams get shattered. Akash Adhikari’s movie, "Kathmandu", released today in Kathmandu, the city, is based on such types of different dreams, different problems, and varieties of people.

Story

The movie, "Kathmandu", is made on the story a character, Aryan Rana (played by Akash Adhikari) who comes back to Nepal from USA after completing his study of film making. He competes in Nepal to get an opportunity to make movie and during his struggle, he faces different problems, typical of Kathmandu. Although he tries to fight with every problems, a problems in his family forced him to return back to the USA.  Apart from the family problem, "Kathmandu" tries to portrays problems in teens caused by the misunderstanding between their parents. Drugs abuse in teens and problems in them caused by the carelessness of their parents. The movie also deals with the problems of street children, problems of youth, unemployment, negligence of the government, the games played by politicians, and girls being exploited to make indecent movies.
