Rapti Music Award 2070 was held in Rastriya Shabha Griha, Kathmandu to award the best Nepali music artists. Out of the nominations for the music video models, Jharana Thapa and Gajit Bista have been successful in winning the awards.
In film music, the musician of ‘Mero Jiwan Sathi’, Arjun Pokharel was awarded the best musician. Dayaram Pandey was awarded the best lyricist in movies. Background singer awards were awarded to Durga Praiyar and Sworoop Raj Acharya for their songs in ‘Maya’s Bar’.
A movie featuring the romance of Jharana Thapa and Suman Singh, ‘Premika’ is going to release on February 28, 2014. The love story movie directed by Ramji Lamichane received an ‘U’ certificate from the Censor Board.
With Jharana and Suman, the movie also features Sushil Pokharel in leading role. The movie features the thrills of Roshan Shrestha, music of Dinesh Sunam and cinematography of Durga Paudel. After a couple of weeks without any new releases, Nepali film makers are releasing four new movies on January 10. At least, three out of the four movies are considered big names in the Nepali movie industry.
The movie ‘Biteka Pal’ by noted director of successful movies like ‘Bato Muniko Phool’ and ‘Sayaad’, Suraj Subba ‘Nalbo’ is known to make good movies. Although his last movie ‘Facebook’ didn’t do well, the current release has created a buzz before the release. In addition to a good director, the movie also features new and talented actors like Keki Adhikari and Baboo Bogati in leading roles. Keki Adhikari was highly appreciated by the audience during the premier show of the movie on the last week of 2013. The songs of the movie are also liked by the public.
After two weeks of no-release of Nepali movies, a thriller comedy movie ‘Trash’ is going to release in theater this Friday on January 3, 2014.

In a music video award ‘Rastriya Rapti Music Award 2070’ to be held soon, all the nominated music video models are actresses. The nominated actresses include: Keki Adhikari, Binita Baral, Nandita KC, Jharana Thapa, and Shilpa Pokharel. Four out of the five nominated models are established film actress. The only model, Shilpa is also going to be featured in Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s upcoming movie ‘Lazza’.

The movie ‘Facebook’ is Jharana Thapa and her husband Sunil Kumar Thapa’s home production movie, presented by Jharana Thapa.

The news of more than 150 artists joining Nepali Congress came by surprise to many. It was particularly surprising to those who heard their own name in the news. For example, actress Mala Subba was surprised on her name included in the list of artists joining the party.
It turned out – the artists were invited for a tea party at the residence of the party president. All those who attended the party were told to have joined the party. Actor Aayush Rijal told that he was in the residence of Sushil Koirala only for the tea party. He clarified, he has no intention of joining any political parties. Aayush told that he was invited by director Suresh Darpan Pokharel for the tea party. It was Pokharel who told about the 150 artists joining Nepali Congress.
Actor and director Ramesh Budhathoki also claimed not to have joined Nepali Congress. He admitted to be supporting the party but, he isn’t a formal member of the party. Actor Jiwan Luitel has the similar statement. Sctress Jharana Thapa is currently in Europe tour, she is also told to have joined the party.
On Saturday morning some 150 artists joined Nepali Congress party. In a program held at the residence of the party president Sushil Koirala in Mahargunj, the artists were welcomed in the party.
The artists include actress Jharana Thapa, Rupa Rana, Melina Manandhar, actors Jiwan Luitel, Dhiren Shakya, Aayush Rijal, Mukesh Dhakal, and Niraj Baral. Directors Ramesh Budhathoki, Suresh Darpan Pokharel and Suraj Subba joined the party in the program. Cinematographer Purosottam Pradhan, photographer Rajiv Shrestha, singer Prakash Ojha also joined the party in the program. Other film artists include Santu Tamang, Rameshowr Karki, Prabhu Samsher JBR, Shyam Rai were also among the 150 artist in the program.
Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has won the best actress award in HTV Filmykhabar D Cine Award. Rekha was awarded the award for her role in her movie ‘Lanka’. The best actor award was awarded to Jiwan Luitel for his role in ‘Notebook’. In the best movie category, ‘Rhythm’ was awarded the best in the year.
In this year’s award, ‘Maya’s Bar’, ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Notebook’ bagged most of the awards.
