Actress Priyanka Karki turned 31 years old on Feburay 27, 2018. After winning Miss Teen 2015 title, Priyanka decided to devote her life to the entertainment industry. She went to the USA for film studies and returned back to act in movies. Although she had acted in TV serials like ‘Gharbeti Ba’, she debuted in films after she returned back from the USA.
Upcoming film ‘Shatru Gate’ organized a surprise birthday party for the actress in an event held in Kathmandu. Here is a video report of the party.
The organizers of the Da-bangg Tour Nepal 2018 were stressed out when popular actresses like Priyanka Karki, Swastima Khadka and ‘Thamel Bazaar ‘ dancer Alisha Rai refused to dance in Salman Khan’s concert. The organizers have convinced Sushma Karki and Mala Limbu to dance in the stage in the program. In addition to the actresses two singers including Rajesh Payal Rai have agreed to sing in the program.

That was what actress Priyanka Karki started with in a 500+ words apology letter (in English alone). She was concerned that people might min-interpret it and has also translated the whole text in Nepali language. I don’t know why she decided it was a good idea to present her thought in two languages, it is clear that she has thought about it for a long time and had taken effort to compose the statement.
Before I share Priyanka’s statement, the background information:
Actress Richa Sharma talked in a program held in Kathmandu about why she didn’t like ‘Chhakka Panja’ movie and why it was against womenkind. In response, the makers of the movie attacked Richa by accusing her of telling the viewers ‘fools’ and telling her to ‘get well soon’. There were divided views on who was right. In my Twitter poll, majority of my followers thought Richa was right and ‘Chhakka Panja’ team was wrong to attack Richa.
In response, Richa claimed that she never told the viewers were fools and she was only advocating the better representation of women in films. After Richa’s statement, Richa got all the sentiment and people went against Deepak, Deepa and ‘Chhakka Panja’ team.

The Films Critics Society of Nepal (FICSON) has distributed the Critics Award for the last three years in a program held in Kathmandu. The awards for the year 2071, 2072 and 2073 were distributed in the event. Although the award is distributed this year, the Critics Award 2015 was announced in 2015. (news of Critics Award 2015)

Nisha Adhikari’s upcoming movie team have started a competition – the most interesting photo of a female carrying a male is going to win Rs. 51,000. For that Nisha had carried her husband Sharad Veshwakar and shared the photo in Facebook. To support Nisha, two other actresses have also done the same.
Neeta Dhungana shared a photo of herself carrying director Shyam Bhattarai in the USA. Neeta is currently in the USA where she went to participate in a film award ceremony.

Actress Priyanka Karki is featured in a guest role in the movie. The cinematographer is Babu Shrestha, music by Taraprakash Limbu / Tek Nanda Lama, concept by Nilu Doma Sherpa, and written by Shan Basnyat.
The movie ‘Punte Parade’ was released in September of 2014. In addition to dancing in the item song, Priyanka had also choreographed the song.
There was a rumour about Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha, to debut in a Bollywood movie. The rumour was about her role in a movie titled ‘Sandeep Aur Pinki Farar’, planned to be shot in Nepal and made under Yashraj Banner. But, the actress has denied the rumour and has told that it was a false information. In the Facebook she wrote, “Information might be power but disinformation is abuse of the power.”
According to report, Shristi had gone to Mumbai for the audition of the movie. She left the shooting of ‘Romeo and Muna’ in East Nepal to go to Mumbai. But, before the production banner made the decision of the audition, the rumour was released in media. The actress was stressed out when she received numerous congratulatory messages. She finally wrote a message that the news of her debuting in Bollywood was false. She wrote, “Dear supporters, I would like to inform you all that the recent news stating that I am debuting in Indian cinema right now is false. Please do not misled or misinformed.”
Although Shristi has told it to be false, some believe that she has already landed in the role in the Bollywood movie. Continue reading
Two new Nepali movies has released in theatre on Friday, November 3, 2017. One is an awaited movie featuring well known actors, ‘Fateko Jutta’ and another is never-heard-of film, ‘Dhanwan’. In addition to new movies, the last week’s release, ‘Aishwarya’ is also running strong in theatre.
About ‘Fateko Jutta’
The movie is considered one of the most awaited movies of the year because of the star cast and a successful song. The trailer and the song titled ‘I am sorry..’ were well received by the audience. The movie produced by the producer of ‘Chapali Height’ sequels, Arjun Kumar, is directed by Nikesh Khadka. The movie features Saugat Malla, Priyanka Karki, Kemshwor Chaurasiya, Anoj Pandey etc. in main role. Actor Dayahang Rai is featured in a cameo role. Daya’s role was kept a secret by the film makers. Priyanka Karki’s next movie ‘Fateko Jutta’ is releasing this week. But, instead of promoting the movie she has gone to India to be with her boyfriend.
There are a few facts about Nepali film artists and the films before I enter into topic:
Every artists wants their film to succeed.
Most of the artists are paid to act/work in the film.
Every artists set aside time for the shooting according to scheduled.
But, when it comes to promotion:
Some artists don’t set aside any time for the promotion and have schedule clashes.
Some make lame excuses of being busy or sick.
Some don’t respond to producers’ phone and invitation to promotional events.
Why what that? I think, there are at least two reasons the artists are not eager to go in the promotion of the movie. One – they are convinced that the movie will be successful and two – they are not paid for the time they spend for the promotion. Continue reading
Another actress has announced a movie, Keki Adhikari. In a program held in Kathmanu on October 23, 2017 actress Keki Adhikari formally announced a new movie titled ‘Kohalpur Express’. The actress who debuted in Nepali film industry in ‘Swor’, was better known as a music video model before that. The movie is being directed by a music video director, Bishal Bhandari. The movie is made under Keki’s home production house Junkiri Arts.
The movie going to the floor on Kartik 13 will feature Keki in the leading role. In addition to Keki the movie will also feature Priyanka Karki, Richa Sharma, Binod Neupane, Buddhi Tamang, Rabindra Jha and other actors. The movie features the music of Rajanraj Siwakoti, Arjun Pokharel and Kali Prasad Baskota. The whole movie is being shot in Banke district.
While talking about the movie Keki told, “I have always wanted to produce a movie since I understood movie industry. A dream is fulfilled by ‘Kohalpur Express’.” In addition to Keki Adhikari the producers of the movie are Bhadra Bahadur Shahi, Devilal Neupane Pandit and Shiva Prasad Chaulagi. The movie is being made on the story of Shan Basnayt, cinematography of Arjun Tiwari, editing of Lokesh Bajracharya, and choreography of Gambhir Bista. The movie is about three young girls played by Keki, Priyanka and Richa. Richa wasn’t present in the event because of her health.
Producer actresses in Nepali film industry
Almost all the successful actresses in the Nepali film industry try their luck by producing movies. But, only a few had been successful. When talking about successful producers who are also actresses of the Nepali movies – only a couple of names comes in my mind – Rekha Thapa and Deepa Shree Niraula. Another actress, Jharana Thapa, can also be named one but, her husband is the real producer of her movies. Rekha has been a producer of some of her recent movies although she started under her ex-husband, Chhabi Raj Ojha. Although her success rate has declined in recent years, she is the only successful actress/producer of the Nepali film industry. Continue reading

The first look poster of upcoming movie ‘Fateko Jutta’ indicates that the movie is a suspense thriller. The movie dierected by Nikesh Khadka features Saugat Malla, Priyanka Karki, Kameshowr Chaurasiya and Buddhi Tamang in main roles. The dark comedy movie was initially scheduled to release on Bhadra 23 but, the release date was delayed to Kartik 17 (November 3, 2017).
Produced by the ‘Chapali Height’ franchise producer, Arjun Kumar, the movie is made under the banner Arjun Kumar Films in association with Highlights Nepal and Popcorn Pictures.
Fateko Jutta Poster
In the first look poster, a person is shown standing with his hand on the hip. There is no indication on who the person is because the upper portion of the photo is cropped. Wearing torn shoes and a dhoti, there are empty bottles lying around on the floor. There is a jute sack with something inside it. It looks like the person is closely guarding the jute bag.
Although the poster has been successful in creating a little bit suspense, the design however can’t be considered attractive. The level of suspense is also very mild as it doesn’t raise the curiosity level about either who the guy might be or, what might be in the jute bag. While looking at the poster, one doesn’t care much about the identity of the person of the the content in the bag because there is no addition information about them. Continue reading

A movie featuring well known actors like Dayahang Rai, Priyanka Karki and Keki Adhikari is the debut movie of the female director Nilu Doma Sherpa. Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba had debuted as the producer in the movie (report on Malvika’s debut). The movie on comedy theme was however not liked by the viewers of the movie.
The movie also features journalist Rishi Dhakala (report). The movie is made under Tiny But Big Pictures banner. The story and the concept is that of the director Nilu Doma Sherpa, script is written by Shan Basnyat, executive prducer is Malvika Subba, choreographer is Renasha Rai etc.
