On the Fulpati day of Dashain two movies of Rekha Thapa are releasing. Such a release of ‘Kali’ and ‘Damini’ at the same time can divide the viewers causing loss of revenue to both of them.
It seems, the clash in release is started when Rekha choose Chhabi Raj Ojha to distribute the movie. Before that, distributor Manoj Rathi was supposed to release the movie. Manoj Rathi group lost the right when Chhabi Raj Ojha entered the scene. After that, Manoj Rathi group purchased the rights of Bhojpuri film ‘Damini’ to release on the same date.
After protests from the party workers, Bhuwan KC was removed from the CPN UML election candidate list. Although he was stated to represent party in Kathmandu constituency 1 in the initial list, he was removed after protest. In the final list, Bidhya Neupane will represent the party in the constituency.
In the similar manner, actress Rekha Thapa was also removed from the final candidate list of the CPN Maoist. When Rekha’s attempt to get ticket in Kathmandu failed, she was successful in getting the recommendation from Parsa district. But, in the final list she was replaced by Baliram Shah in Parsa 1 constituency.
Rekha Thapa’s attempt to get a ticket from Kathmandu wasn’t successful. But, the CPN Maoist Parsa committee has nominated Rekha for the election in Parsa-1 electoral district. In the meeting of Bhojpura Rajya Samiti, held on Thursday, Basaruddhin Ansari was nominated in Parsa-2 election.

On her 30th birthday Rekha Thapa didn’t organized a celebration party but, called a small informal meeting with journalist in Indreni Foodland, Maharajgunj. In the meeting, she presented three of the five children she had been supporting for the last two years.
Rekha told that she had started supporting five violence affected children for the on her birthday two years ago. She told that she had been supporting the children by providing all their requirements including place to live, food, education and health. Rekha told, "I have earned the name and fame from movies. Now, I want to support the society by doing social works."
‘Naseeb Afno’ or ‘Nasib Afno’ is the second presentation of Abhi Films Pvt. ltd. , presented by Dil Kumar. The story of the movie is written by Dil Kumar Pyasi. The script is written by the director Bikash Acharya.
The professional photographers have chosen a non-professional – actress Rekha Thapa to feature in their yearly calendar. Being an actress, she had done her best to act like a photographer, but she has failed in a few shots and the professional photographers didn’t care to correct the poses. I haven’t got hold of the calendar myself but, from the photos shared by my Facebook friends I can see some of the problems of the calendar.
I have a few questions to the publishers of the calendar:
Why a new calendar after 1/4th of the year is finished?
Why is Rekha Thapa featured in every page of calendar?
First, the calendar is made for the year 2070 BS. We are currently running on the fourth month of the year – almost through a quarter of the year. Nobody needs a calendar of this year at this time of the year. Whoever needs one might already have it in their walls. Unveiling a stale calendar defeats the sole purpose of the calendar.
I have seen calendars that feature a product in every page are either sponsored or produced by the product owners. In this calendar it would have made sense if Rekha Thapa were either the sponsor of the calendar or the owner of the calendar. As she is none, it doesn’t make sense to feature her in every page of the calendar. They could have used 12 different actresses or 12 different photographer journalists or just the best press photos in the calendar.
After the divorce Rekha Thapa and her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha had produced ‘Kali‘ and ‘Loafer’ respectively and announced the same release date to compete with each other. But, when the release date nears, the relationship between the two has warmed up and now, Chhabi has appeared in ‘Kali’ poster as an executive producer.
Now Chhabi has acquired the release rights of ‘Kali’ and he will distribute the movie in the theaters. Earlier, ‘Kali’ was supposed to be distributed by other party but, Chhabi will return the advance received from the earlier party to distribute the film himself. He told, he and Rekha have realized that they are not competitors but business partners.
July 19 is the birthday of ex-Miss Nepal and journalist Malvika Subba. To celebrate her birthday Malvika went to Safaltha HIV Sikshya Sadan, the first of its kind in Nepal. She met the kids in the institute and celebrated her birthday.
Talking about the experience in her Facebook post, Malvika said:
In a religious ceremony Rekha Thapa got married to a Bar (Banyan) tree. Banyan is viewed as the male counterpart of female plant peepal. In Hindu religion, banyan tree represents immortality.
Rekha conducted a yagya ceremony and a religious puja. Although she hasn’t revealed the reason behind the puja, some believe it has something to do with her upcoming movie ‘Kali‘. Rekha is planning to release the movie in Dashain to compete with her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s ‘Loafer’.
Actress and producer Rekha Thapa has announced the release date of her upcoming movie ‘Kali’ on Dashain, Fulpati day, Ashoj 25 (October 11, 2013). The day coincides with the release date of her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s production ‘Loafer’.
After Rekha and Chhabi divorced, Chhabi registered Chhabi Raj Films and produced the first movie ‘Hamesha’ in association with Rekha’s Rekha Films. But, in his second movie – ‘Loafer’, Chhabi introduced a new actress, Rajani KC in the leading role. Rekha also started ‘Kali’ on her own to compete with Chhabi.
In an interview with a TV program actress Rekha Thapa told that she is not interested in getting married again. But, she also added that she wanted to be a mother. After the divorce with her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha Rekha is living with her mother. She is currently shooting her upcoming movie ‘Kali’.
Rekha wanted to make a life partner out of wedlock and live with him. To give examples of women living without a male partner, she gave the examples of Nepali actresses like Mithila Sharma and Koma Oli.
We believed Rekha Thapa‘s ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha was her godfather in the Nepali movie industry. But, there is no point in thinking otherwise if Rekha herself tells that Naresh Poudel is the godfather instead.
Actress Rekha Thapa’s upcoming movie ‘Kali’ is currently in floor. Rekha has shared some photos from the shooting and it seems her role is confusing in lights of her past movies.
In the past few movies, Rekha Thapa has been featured in similar roles. The female oriented movies are named similar and confusing – ‘Kali’ is currently in production and ‘Durga’, ‘Rawan’ and ‘Lanka’ are already released. Although Rekha has told that her roles in these movies are different, she looks same (in police uniform) in ‘Lanka’ and ‘Kali’ (see the photo below).
A Nepali movie based on the life of the martyr Bhimdutta Pant is being shot in the location in far-western Nepal. The martyr Bhimdutta is known for his fight against cast system and Rana autocracy. More than 60 percent of the movie is scheduled to be shot in the Western Nepal.
In the history of Nepali movies, this will be the first movie based on the life of a martyr. The movie titled ‘Bhimdutt’ is being produced and directed by Himgyap Tasi Lama. The movie will also feature songs based on the quotations of Bhimdutta and will showcase the attractions of Western Nepal.
True to her skin color, actress Rekha Thapa is doing a role of Kali in her upcoming movie ‘Kali’. Although made under own banner, Rekha Films and many successful movies were made under the banner, this is the first time she is playing the role of a producer. After Rekha divorced Chhabi Raj Ojha he registered a new production house and she is left to go on her own.
The first movie of Chhabi Raj production was jointly produced by Rekha Films and Chhabi Raj Films. Now, Chhabi has started his own ‘Lofar’ without Rekha and Rekha has gone to the floor with ‘Kali’ without Chhabi. At this time, I recall Rekha posting a photo of herself and Chhabi exactly two years ago with quote – "with my miyau…" Time sure has changed a lot.
