The movie ‘Stupid Man’ was released on October 25, 2014 and was liked by the viewers. The movie was one of the top 10 successful movies of the year 2071 BS. The music director Arjun Pokharel was awarded the Best Music Director in NEFTA Films Award, 2015. The movie produced by Suva Films features the choreography of Kabiraj Gahatraj, editing of Dirgha Khadka, right direction by Astha Maharjan and screenplay by Samipya Raj Timilsina. The movie was fully shot in Thailand.
Actress Priyanka Karki and actor Dayahang Rai have signed in the upcoming movie of director Dev Kumar Shrestha, ‘Laltin’. The movie to be produced by Bhanu Pratap will be made on the story reflecting the current situation of Nepal. The movie is scheduled to start the shooting in a couple of weeks.
Priyanka and Dayahang are two of the most busy actors in Nepali film industry. Apart from being co-artists in a number of movies, Priyanka Karki and Dayahang Rai are good friends in personal level.
Dayahang and Priyanka had romanced in a previous movies ‘Jholey’ (Watch ‘Jholey’ here). They had worked together in movies like ‘Woda Number 6’ and ‘kabaddi Kabaddi’.
The director of ‘Loot’ and ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ and the actor of movies like ‘Kabaddi’, Nischal Basnet, and the actress of hit movie ‘Hostel Returns’, Swastima Khadka, have got engaged in an event held in Kathmandu on December 14, 2015. The marriage between the two is scheduled to be held on February 17, 2016 (Falgun 5).

The controversial model Tirsana Budhathoki has decided to go artistic by painting her body in Nepali flag and the problem caused by the Indian blockade. The controlled blockade at the Indian border has caused a very harsh condition in the livelihood of Nepali people. The people have been going through acute shortage of daily essentials like cooking gas, vehicle fuel, aircraft fuel and medicine.

Although the Indian government officials deny such blockade and blame the agitating Madhesh parties in the Terai region. But, the Indian government officials had been telling that the blockade is done to punish Nepal for not listening them in writing the Constitution.
On the Christmas Day Nepali movie ‘Dhauli’ is going to release in the theaters out of Kathmandu. The movie will come to Kathmandu on the New Year day, January 1, 2016. The first look trailer of the movie was released in a program held in Kathmandu on December 13. In the press meet, the director told that ‘Dhauli’ team will present the pure organic Nepali taste.
The movie made in a rural setting featuring Bishnu Gautam and Gita Adhikari in the leading roles. Two posters released by the film team feature Bishnu and Gita in them. The movie is set in Bhurjung village in Kaski.
The actor Bishnu Gautam says that the movie also shows the desire of love in the people of feudal in nature. Gautam is a professor and he had also worked as a journalist. In the movie he is featured as the feudal landowner. The actress Gita Adhikari had previously worked in more than a quarter century feature films and telefilms.
Other main actors in the movie include Gajit Bista, Anu Shah, Prakash Ghimire, Shambhu Thapa and Bidhya Karki.
The comedy serial ‘Syabaas’ is a presentation of MaHa Sanchar in association with Antenna Foundation Nepal. ‘Syabaas’ marks the comeback of MaHa in Nepali comedy telefilms after a pause. The child artist in the movie is Sony Thakur. The 6-Episodes-long telefilm was broadcasted in television in December 2013 – January of 2014.
A presentation of MaHa in association with ICIMOD and IASS, the telefilm ‘Dhuwa’ is about the air pollution caused by smoke. The telefilm is prepared to create awareness among Nepali people to inform about the disadvantage of open fire. The telefilm also uses parrot animation with MaHa’s voice over.
Like all other MaHa comedy, this telefilm is funny and informative at the same time. Hari Bamsha is featured as a resident of Terai region. The telefilm was broadcasted in television in October.
This week on December 11, 2015, two new Nepali movies are released in theater – ‘Lati’ and ‘Agni’. Unlike other movies at the time of the release, these movies were not promoted much. The movie ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ is still running in theater with considerable viewers in its third week of release. The last week’s release ‘Chocolate’ has lost some theater because of less interest in viewers. ‘Chocolate’ actress and producer Poojana has expressed her surprise in the last of viewers in spite of excessive promotion of the movie.
A friend in Twitter, Rakesh, has categorized the Nepali movies in four different types. Although the categorization is done very loosely and the boundary of this categorization is extremely blurry, such a categorization can give a rough guide on what a particular movie is like. I think, there is room for improvement in this categorization so that one can easily decide on whether to watch the movie or not. Masala Nepali movies
Masala Nepali movies contain all the different entertaining aspects of movies. They are the mix of comedy, family drama, action, music and love all stuffed in a movie to appeal all types of viewers. They might contain all these ingredients (masala) or some of them. These types of movies are less risky and hence, the established film producers prefer to go with these type of movies.

The Nepali movie ‘One Side Love’ was the first movie released after the earthquake of April 2015. The movie was released on July 3, a little more than two months after earthquake. The viewers response however wasn’t that positive. The producer Kapil Khatri is in leading role with Sital Shailung as the co-producer, music is composed by Hari Lamsal, story by Aagat KC, cinematography by Lok Chandra Thapa, action by Samrat Basnet, editing by Milan Shrestha, and background score of Alish Karki.
The upcoming movie ‘Classic’ repeats the ‘November Rain’ couple Aryan Sigdel and Namrata Shrestha in leading role. The movie by the same production team is also a highly awaited movie because of the success of ‘November Rain’. The movie is the story of two blind characters played by Aryan and Namrata. The movie is expected to release on February 12, just in time for the Valentine Day.
The movie ‘Classic’ is a presentation of Aryan Sigdel Entertainment and Subash Entertainment production movie. Directed by Dinesh Raut the movie features Romi Ghimire, Prajwal Sujal Giri, Shisir Rana and Sushil Kafle with Aryan and Namrata. The producer of the movie is Subash Giri. The Jukebox attached at the end features six songs. Out of the six songs, two are different versions of the same song. Details of each of the songs:
Nepali Movie – Tiraskar Starring – Director – Dinesh Raj Sharma
The Nepali movie ‘Tiraskar’ is a presentation of producer Binu Bajagain. One of the actress in the movie, Mahima Pokharel, had died in an accident in 2010. The movie is about cast system and social discrimination of higher class and lower class citizen.
The director of the move that has celebrated its 71 days in theater recently, Ujjwal Ghimire, has landed in the next project of the popular film maker, Chhabi Raj Ojha. Although Chhabi is known to stick with one actress for a long time, he keeps on changing the directors of his movies.
Ujjwal Ghimire had directed of two of Chhabi’s previous hit movies – ‘Kismat’ and ‘Andaaz’. They were made under Rekha Films banner.
The producer, writer and the actress of ‘Chocolate’, Poojana Pradhan has expressed her frustration in Facebook after the movie failed to attract enough viewers. The debut movie of Poojana as a producer was made on the story of street children was released in theatre on Friday, December 4. Poojana had been supporting orphan children in her home and was also involved in Jayasangat movement. She had written the story based on her experience with the children and had high hopes from the movie.

In a Facebook post Poojana wrote, “‘Chocolate’ flopped because you didn’t watch it.” She had claimed that she has written a very good story and she had good intentions from the movies, but she didn’t get the support from the viewers. She has also told that the status is the last status she will update in Facebook.
‘Chocolate’ is the debut movie the director Nirmal Sharma. Known as ‘Gaida’ in popular comedy serial ‘Tito Satya’, Nirmal has also directed another upcoming movie ‘Bracelet’. In a Facebook post, Nirmal has written, “Hold on, god knows what he is doing!”
