Nepali Movie – Aadha Love Starring – Mithila Sharma, Tika Pahari, Arpan Thapa, Reecha Sharma, Raymon Das Shrestha, Rojisha Shahi etc. Director – Arpan Thapa
The movie produced by actress Reecha Sharma with the director Arpan Thapa was the first film by the actress as a producer. Released in 2017, the movie didn’t do well in theatre but reviewers liked it.
Richa and Arpan had teamed up to produce another movie ‘Sunkeshari’. But, that too didn’t do well. These days, they seem to have parted their ways as Arpan is working in ‘Ghar’ another horror movie without Richa in the team.
Nepali Movie – Firke Starring – Arpan Thapa, Suleman Shankar, Reecha Shrama, Christie Paudel etc. Director – Rabi Dangol
A movie by well known comedy actor Rabi Dangol, ‘Firke’ is a comedy film featuring Arpan with Reecha. The movie however wasn’t successful in theatre. The comedy film also features Iku, Suleman Shankar. New actress Christie Paudel, A Gurung, Bishnu Sapkota and Ujjawal Bhandari are other artists in the film.
Nepali Film – Sunkesari Starring – Richa Sharma, Rabindra Jha, Sunny Dhakal, Yami Parajuli etc. Director – Arpan Thapa
About Sunkesari
The second movie produced by actress Richa Sharma also got mixed reviews. Richa’s production debut ‘Aadha Love’ was a failure. The actress has teamed up with Arpan Thapa to produce and direct these films. There were rumours of their relationship. But, Richa named them rumours and not being ture. Arpan is a married man so, Richa requested not to spread such rumours. The film features child artist Yami Parajulli. Yami’s acting was highly appreciated. The movie was shot in location in Australia. A very few horror films are made in Nepal and this is one of such few films. It seems this genre doesn’t appeal much to Nepali viewers.
The film production team has annouced the sequel of the movie ‘Sunkesari 2’. But, the details of the release schedule is not known.

Nepali Movie – Mukhauta Starring – Rajesh Hamal, Sunil Thapa, Saugat Malla, Dayahang Rai, Robin Tamang, Nisha Adhikari, Harshika Shrestha, Prashant Tamrakar, Arpan Thapa etc. Director – Arpan Thapa
About ‘Mukhauta’
Being a multi-starrer, the movie was highly awaited. But, the wait resulted in higher expectation – more than what the film had to offer. So the most awaited, gangster/crime themed movie wasn’t successful in the box office. The movie tells the story of the underground mafia operating in Kathmandu. Because of violence and vulgar dialogues, the movie was given an ‘A’ certificate. The grading is given to films only suitable for the audience aged 16 years or older.
I wrote about the movie previously – ‘Mukhauta’ was released on June 13, 2014. The reason movie didn’t get the viewers as expected was attributed to various factors. The world cup football game was running at the time of the release – so, the film makers had also blamed the game for the failure of the movie. ‘Mukhauta’ producer Rabin Shrestha had recently announced the start of the production of the sequel of the movie titled ‘Mukhauta 2’. I had appreciated the participation of Harshika Shrestha in the premier of the movie in spite of her broken leg. The affair between Nisha Adhikari and cricketer Sharad Veshwakar became more apparent when they were seen together at the premier of the movie. This is the debut movie of the director Arpan Thapa as an actor.
Two new movies have released in theatre today, on June 9, 2017. The production debut of actress Richa Sharma, ‘Aadha Love’ and the movie featuring Daya Hang Rai and Priyanka Karki – ‘Lalteen’.
About ‘Laltin’
The featuring Dayahang Rai, Priyanka Karki, Arjun Jung Shahi, A Gurung, Raj Katuwal and Nirjan Thapa in main role, is about the conflict between people in search of power and materials. The movie directed by Dev Kumar Shresta is a crime story featuring the night life of Kathmandu. The movie marks the debut of Raj Katuwal and Nirjan Thapa in the Nepali film industry. Continue reading

A friend in Twitter asked if I had heard of the movie ‘Dyning Candle’ or ‘Nibhna Lageko Diyo’ in Nepali language. I hadn’t. But, I did a quick search and loved the trailer available in IMDB website (trailer is embedded at the end). The movie set in a remote location seems to be the story of a loving sister and her varied emotions towards her brother and others. I am writing about all the stuffs I could gather from the trailer and the information available online. There is no definitive release date of the movie as the post production and re-shooting seem to be going on.
The movie ‘Dying Candle’ is written and directed by Naresh Kumar KC. The original screenplay was 145 pages at the time of the start shooting. But, first 88 pages completed the movie although the ending was an unplanned one. The crew lived in the remote village for 45 days to complete the shooting. Every food item except potato had to be imported from Kathmandu. So the crew had mostly to live on potato throughout the shooting.

In addition to the actors mentioned, actor Rajesh Hamal will also be featured in cameo role, like the one in the first sequel. There is no mention of actress Rekha Thapa who was one of the actors in the original movie.
