Bhuwan KC rejects report of being stuck in Pokhara over hotel bill controversy

Actor Bhuwan KC and controversy goes hand-in-hand. It has been quite a while there weren’t any controversial news about him, except of course, his debut as a director. In a latest report, Bhuwan KC‘s movie ‘Dreams’ has bee dragged into controversy over a hotel bill.

The movie team has recently completed the shooting of the movie in Pokhara. At the time of checkout Bhuwan reportedly couldn’t pay the Rs. 500,000 bill at the hotel. According to a local reporter Deenanath Baral, the hotel owner had snatched Bhuwan’s car on the failure of the payment. Bhuwan KC and the team was staying in Hotel Peaceful in Damside, Pokhara.

Rekha Thapa announces, no Nepali award for her movies

Nepali actress Rekha Thapa has announced that she and her home production movies won’t participate in any Nepali movies award ceremony. She has accused the organizers of manipulating them to award the films of their choice based on personal influences and money.

Rekha has termed all the award ceremonies in Nepal as ‘Room Awards’.

This is not the first time Rekha has expressed her dissatisfaction. Last year, at this time Rekha had accused National Award organizers of asking money for award. She didn’t even go to receive one award she won at that time. Rekha was also accused of not participating in an award ceremony when she couldn’t persuade the organizers to hand her the Best Actress Award.

Reshem Filili in USA tour

The popular comedy movie ‘Resham Filili’ is going to be screened in various cities in the USA. The movie is scheduled to be held in cities including Baltimore, Virgina, Washington, Texas, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francesco and Colorado. The actor and producer Vinay Shrestha has already headed to USA for the shows.

The movie is scheduled to be premiered among the Nepali-Bhutani community in the USA. Vinay will also be one of the judges of the upcoming Miss Bhutan USA beauty contest. The beauty contest among the young girls of Bhutan origin in USA is being held on June 20 (read report on Miss Bhutan USA in Badmasi.com). Actress and Miss Nepal 2011, Malina Joshi, had trained the contestants and will also be the judge of the contest.

Namrata Sapkota and Dipasha BC to be featured in Birano Maya

After the completion of the shooting of her upcoming movie ‘Bracelet’ actress Namrata Sapkota has signed in another movie ‘Birano Maya’. The inauguration of the shooting of ‘Birano Maya’ was held on Monday, June 15 in Kathmandu.

The movie by Shree Media Search and Movie Makers is produced by Milan Lama and Sabitri Adhikari. The love story movie will also featured the typical Far Eastern ascent. The movie written and directed by Madhav Kharel will be shot in locations in Kavre, Jhapa, Janakpur and Sindhuli area. The shooting of the movie is scheduled to start next week.

Shooting of Bindaas 3 starts again, Sushma replaced by Suvekchya Thapa

The shooting of the Raju Giri movie, ‘Bindaas 3’ has re-started after the delay caused by the devastating earthquake of April 25. To produce the third sequel of the movie ‘Bindaas’, Raju has teamed up with actress Suvekchya Thapa. This is the third venture of Raju Giri with the actress after ‘Makhmali’ and ‘Tiger the Real Hero’.

In both of the sex-themed movie’s previous sequels, hot actress Sushma Karki was featured in leading role. In the third sequel, Sushma is being replaced by Suvekchya. (click to watch ‘Bindaas’ and watch ‘Bindaas 2’)

At the end of 2014, Sushma Karki had announced that she will no longer work in sex-themed movie. It is suspected that she had made such an announcement as she wasn’t included in the ‘Bindaas 3’ team (read about it in Nepaliactress).

Dhauli premiered in Pokhara, a love story against the caste system

A movie made on the story of higher class and lower class citizen ‘Dhauli’ was premiered in Pokhara on Saturday, June 13. The movie featuring Gita Adhikari as the central Character, Dhauli, features the love story of her son, Bir (played by Gajit Bista) and Anjana (Anu Shah), a higher class girl.

The movie set in a village features and features village lifestyle. A lower caste woman, Dhauli, is working in a house of a higher caste owner, Kancho Shahu (played by Bishnu Gautam). Dhauli falls for Kancho Shahu and gets pregnant. When the affair is made public, Kancho was sent to the city and Dhauli was forced to leave the village.

Mistake charity shows to be held in Singapore and Malaysia to help earthquake victims

A premier show of upcoming movie ‘Mistake’ is being held in Malaysia and Singapore to help earthquake victims. The shows will be held in two locations in Malaysia and one location in Singapore.

The movie released in November of 2014 had an average performance in theater.

A presentation of RB movies, ‘Mistake’ is a movie produced by Bishnu Atharai and made on the story and direction of Rishi Raj Acharya. The movie veatures Nirmal Century, Harshika Shreshta, Sushant Karki, Shree Raj Acharya, Rama Singh and others. The charity shows are being organized by E4 Entertainment.

Aavash to release again on June 19

After the release of ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ to help earthquake victims, another movie by producer Gobinda Shahi is also releasing again. The movie previously released on January 9, ‘Aavash’ is releasing again on June 19 (Friday, Ashad 4).

The movie directed by Surendra Poudel, ‘Aavash’ features Samyam Puri, Nisha Adhikari, Ashma DC and Salon Basnet in leading roles. Shahi has told that the proceeds of the the movie show will be spent in the building earthquake damaged buildings in remote Nepal. Shahi told that the movie was successful at the time of its initial release.

Premier show of Teacher, Rs. 50K for Maiti Nepal

The premier show of Shovit Basnet’s upcoming movie ‘Teacher was held in Kathmandu on June 5. A The film production team handed over Rs. 50,000 cash to Anuradha Koirala of Maiti Nepal during the premier show. The money will be med in the purchase of earthquake relief materials in Nuwakot.

The chief guest of the event was CPN-UML leader Ram Narazan Bidari . Various artists, journalists and other people were present in the ceremony.

Artists and political leaders to compete in a football match for earthquake relief

To support the earthquake victims, the political leaders including the president Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala are competing against the film artists in a football game to he held at 2:00 PM at Halchowk, Katmandu.

Almost all the major political leaders and most of the film artists are participating in the friendly game. The fund collected at the of again will be used in the relief work of earthquake victims. The game is being held at the play ground of the armed police in Halchowk.

Government selects Rajkumar Rai to head Film Development Board

Nepal government has selected the president of the Nepal Film Producer association to head Film Development Board (FDB),  the government regulatory body of Nepali movies. The government took a few months to decide on the new leader after the end of the tenure of  previous chief, Dharmendra Kumar Marbaita.

Raj Kumar was appointed by the cabinet meeting held on Friday, June 5. After the appointment Rai has thanked the government and told that he will work in the betterment of the entire film industry.  He added, “I am very excited to take the new responsibility.”

Summer Love to be made in to a movie by Bikash Acharya

Well known director and producer Bikash Acharya has decided to make a movie on the novel ‘Summer Love’ by Subin Bhattarai. Bikash has contacted Subin and is negotiating to get into a reasonable deal with the writer.

As Bikash Acharya will be busy in the direction of the fourth sequel of the popular movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La’, he has assigned the director of ‘Nai Nabhannu La 3’, Muskan Dhakal for the direction of the movie. The movie was recently released and was well received by the audience. The pre-production works of ‘Nai Nabhannu La 4’ is currently going on. Child actor Anubhav Regmi and Aryan Sigdel are the only artists finalized for the movie.

Film shootings resumes after earthquake

After devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015, the Nepali film industry is trying to get back to its track. After the earthquake all the shootings were halted, movie releases re-scheduled, and the theatres were closed. Artists were busy in earthquake relief works. Now, more than a months of the sad incident, the industry some works have started.

At the time of  the earthquake, the shooting of the movie ‘Bhaag Saani Bhaag’ was in its last stage in Kathmandu. When the shooting studio was damaged by the earthquake, the remaining shooting was done in the home of one of the artists.

Resham Filili to re-release on August 28

The movie ‘Resham Filili,’ released on a day before the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015 is going to re-release after four months – on August 28, 2015. The producer of the movie, Madhav Wagle has announced the new date after a month of the first release. The movie became a very awaited movie on the success of one of the songs – ‘Jalama …’ The Sukul Premier of the movie a day before the release was also appreciated by the media.

On the second day of the release, the movie show had to be halted because of the earthquake that claimed more than eight thousand lives. The movies scheduled to release on the following weeks were also canceled. The theaters remained closed for a whole month. Even after a month of closure, the viewers are still reluctant to go to the theater to watch movies. Some of the theaters are still closed for the repair of damage caused by earthquake.

12 Major Theaters closed after earthquake, Chha Ekan Chha re-releasing

According to Motion Picture Association, 12 major theaters are closed in the earthquake affected area. Some of the closed theaters are undergoing repairs after earthquake damages and others are closed because of the lack of the movie to screen in them. As the earthquake aftershocks haven’t stopped even after a month of the devastating earthquake, viewers are skeptical in going to theaters to watch the movies.

According to Gopal Kayastha, Kalanki theater is in the verge of collapse, Asta Narayan and Ganga are also being renovated after earthquake. Other closed theaters include a multiplex in Bagbazar, Subhakamana and Mayur theaters in Banepal, Barahi and Kamalbinayak theaters in Bhaktapur, Hira Ratna, Asta Narayan, Ganga and Kalanki theaters in Kathmandu.
