A presentation of Prem Kamal, Nepali film ‘Kasoor’ is produced by Premis Vision, UK in association with International Film Academy, Nepal. The director Prem Lal has also written and edited the film. ‘Kasoor’ is one of the few films made by non-resident Nepali.
The Highly High production film ‘Soul Sister’ was released in QFX, Big Movies, FCube and Q’s Cinemas on Thursday, January 15. In other theaters the film was released on Friday, January 16. The debut movie of actress Namrata Shrestha as a producer was also premiered in Central Cinema.
The film featuring Rajesh Hamal, Namrata Shrestha, Deepak Sharma and Rabina Deshraj in leading role is directed by Prasant Rasaili. Although the initial critical review of the film is positive, the viewers have complained that it is not easy to understand.
A presentation of Melina Manandhar for Sangam Vision, Nepali film ‘Jwalamukhi’ is a revenge story of Meenakshi (played by Melina Manandhar). The film ‘Barood’ is the second presentation of Jaya Kishan Basnet under Trendi Films banner. The film features editing by Banish Shah, action by Rajendra Khadgi, cinematography by Deepak Bantawa, choreography by Shiva BK/Shovit Basnet, lyrics Dayaram Pandey, music by Mahesh Khadka, and story / script/dialogue by Jaya Kishan Basnet.
Nepali film ‘Tathastu’ is about Basanti who is abused by her husband. The film about domestic violence and marital rape is a story of a typical Nepali woman abused by her husband. Basanti’s husband, Kamal, is an influential political figure. Kamal sexually abuses Basanti before marriage and it continues after the marriage. When things become intolerable, Basanti fakes death and runs away to her village.
When Kamal knew that Basanti is alive, he brings her back. The movie ‘Tathastu’ is about the fight of Bananti against her abusing husband.

The film directed by a British national Murray Kerr, ‘Tandav’ is a Smashing Apple production film. The movie marks the debut of the popular rap singer Lahure (Asis Rana) in Nepali film industry. The film was released on August 22, 2014.
Amrit, Maya, and Amir are three child labors who grew up together. When Amrit started working with Ganesh, a weapon smuggler, their friendship and life. Maya becomes a prostitute. Amrit always wants to escape from Ganesh. Amir however joins police force and tries to capture Amrit to get a promotion. Watch the movie to know what happens to the lives of the friends and their different professions.

The film ‘Loafer’ marks the first movie of Chhabi Raj Ojha without Rekha after he debuted Rekha in ‘Hero’ (watch ‘Hero’). He introduced Rajani KC in the film. Initially, Rajani was expected to replace Rekha in Chhabi’s film but, he found an actress in looks similar to Rekha, Shilpa Pokharel, in ‘Lazza’. So far, Shilpa Pokharel seem to fit in the shoes of Rekha in Chhabi camp and she has already done hat-trick by working in three films of Chhabi Raj Films banner. In addition, Chhabi is rumored to be wooing Shilpa to make his fourth wife.
Three new Nepali movies are releasing on this Friday, January 9, 2014. Rekha Thapa‘s ‘Tathastu’, Samyam Puri‘s ‘Aavash’ and Aryan Sigdel‘s ‘Alvida’ are the movies fighting to attract the viewers.
Aavash
Targeted to the youths, Nepali film ‘Aavash’ is directed by Surendra Poudel featuring actors Samyam Puri, Ashma DC, Nisha Adhikari, Salon Basnet, and Sunil Rawal in main roles. Made on a youth love story the story of the film is written by the director himself in association with Hemraj BC. The online couple Samyam Puri and Ashma DC were actually in love relationship offline. But, in a latest report, they have separated on mutual understanding. Samyam is currently busy in the shooting of another movie so, he hasn’t participated in the promotion of the movie.
A presentation of Smashing Apple, ‘Badhshala’ is a film on the torture of Maoist combatants at Bhairavnath barrack of Nepal Army. Released on April 19, 2013, ‘Badhshala’ went through a political controversy after being banned by Nepal Army. The film makers went to street to protest the unjust banning of the movie citing March 8 as the black Friday.
The film ‘Fitkiree’ is the debut movie of Anup Baral as a director. The film written by Yangesh is categories as a crime thriller film. The director Anup Baral married actress Diya Maskey after the release of the film. The film is a presentation of Mega Entertainment.
‘Dhukdhuki’ with sub-title ‘The beats of Love’, is a presentation of KK Films Pvt. Ltd. by Karishma Manandhar. The movie is presented by Binod Manandhar, Karishma’s husband and is produced by Ishwor Manandhar and Janaki Manandhar. The movie also features a dog named Champa and actor Salon Basnet in his childhood days with child artist Chandani Pradhan. Guest artists in the film include Deepa Shree Niraula, Shrisha Karki, Pradeep Singh and Madanman Bajracharya. Gauri Malla, Ashok Sharma and Rabi Giri are featured in special appearances.
Actress Rekha Thapa is totally biased during the promotion of the movie based on the film production house. She gives all of her in her home production movies and ignores the films produced by others. There are a lot of examples of failure of the movies when Rekha ignored the promotion of the movie. The last example was ‘Damdar’ (watch ‘Damdar’) for which we wrote about the lack of enthusiasm of Rekha in the promotion of the film. She didn’t even show up in the press meet organized by the film makers.
But, in the case of ‘Tathastu’, she has changed her attitude and has been promoting the movie in her Facebook page, in every interviews and she is even promoting the film in television shows. Now the question arises, what made Rekha to give herself in the promotion of the movie produced by somebody other than herself.
Two new Nepali movies are releasing on the Friday, January 2, 2015 – ‘Zindagi Rocks’ and ‘My Promise’. Both movies are targeted to the new generation youths.
Zindagi Rocks
A movie made on the story of a group of youths in a holiday trip and their adventure is ‘Zindagi Rocks’. The movie directed by Nikesh Khadka is a love story movie dealing with friendship, relationships with comedy. The movie features Somraj Tuladhar, Akesha Bista and SonamPakhrin in lead roles.
