It is the birthday of Namrata Shrestha – the top actress of Nepali film industry. Last year, Namrata’s movie ‘Classic’ won her all the Best Actress awards. This year, Namrata’s movie ‘Parva’ was released. Although the movie wasn’t as successful as ‘Classic’ or ‘November Rain’, the movie’s result was as expected by the producers. The thriller movie wasn’t expected to do an exceptional business.
Namrata is one of the Top 10 actresses on the views of the film directors:
The movie ‘Maun’ is made on a realistic characters seen in the society. It is a story of the love of two deaf and mute characters – Aman, played by Arpan Thapa, and Barsha, played by Namrata Shrestha. Namrata started experimenting with being featured as a disabl character in ‘Maun’ and it got to a new height in ‘Classic’. The new movie ‘Classic’ became one of the best movies of the year 2016, winning every awards of Best Actress for Namrata. This movie is a must see for those who like the new movie.
The story of love between hearing impaired Aman and Barsha is interesting as the story unfolds of Aman’s dark past. While Aman engulf’s himself smoking, Barsha is a free-spirited girl who is believes in achieving something meaningful in her life despite of her disability. For the preperation of this movie, Namrata also had gone through a training on sign language – the mode of communication between the deaf people. We had done a full review of Maun in 2013. In an interview with us, the director Suraj Bhusal told that the movie is ‘a simple love story’.
Two new Nepali movies have released on May 26, 2017, in theatre in Nepal – Namrata Shrestha starrer ‘Parva’ and Sohit Manandhar movie ‘Hitler’. It is an interesting clash between two movies.

In January I wrote about the top 5 controversial actresses in the Nepali movie industry. The post got a lot of viewers and the accompanying video is one of the most viewed videos in YouTube Channel. (I am preparing a video report on Top 5 Tattoo beauties which is coming soon.)
I have prepared a video report on five actresses who started their acting career in their childhood. These actresses didn’t know about their future as actresses, when they acted in their first movies. Out of the five actresses, three are considered some of the top actresses in the Nepali movie industry. Two actresses discontinued acting after acting in some movies.
Do you know who is most excited to win an award in an award ceremony?
The first time winners are the most excited and enthusiastic when an award is announced. But, when the winner of the Best Newcomer Award doesn’t show up in an award ceremony to receive the award, there is something seriously wrong. I don’t know if that had happened in the other award ceremonies as well but, I felt it odd when the winner of Best Newcomer award, Samragyee RL Shah, didn’t show up to receive the award in NFDC National Award ceremony, held recently.
I think, that was because, she had already won the award and there is no charm in winning more than one awards for the same movie and same role.
I wonder, how Namrata Shrestha could even feel happy – winning awards for the same thing – again and again, and again for the fifth time. Yes, she won Best Actress awards for the same role in ‘Classic’ – five different awards:
D Cine Award
LG Film Award
I am pretty sure she will win more awards in future. If I were her, after winning the Nation Award, from the President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, I wouldn’t have attended any other award ceremonies. Continue reading
