In the budget announced on Sunday, the finance minister has announced the government plan to build a film city of international standard in Dolkha. While reading the budget, finance minister Shankar Prasad Koirala told that the government will initiate the construction of the film city in the current fiscal year.
Tattoo is a new and rapidly growing urban culture in Nepal. Youths are particularly attracted towards the permanent body art. Nepali actresses are using tattoo to enhance their beauty.

In a religious ceremony Rekha Thapa got married to a Bar (Banyan) tree. Banyan is viewed as the male counterpart of female plant peepal. In Hindu religion, banyan tree represents immortality.
Rekha conducted a yagya ceremony and a religious puja. Although she hasn’t revealed the reason behind the puja, some believe it has something to do with her upcoming movie ‘Kali‘. Rekha is planning to release the movie in Dashain to compete with her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s ‘Loafer’.
An upcoming movie, ‘Jatra’ is going to feature actress Namrata Shrestha and actor Saugat Malla in lead roles. The movie will be the first movie in which these popular actors will be acting in opposite roles. Previously, Saugat and Namrata were also featured in ‘Chadke’.
Actress and producer Rekha Thapa has announced the release date of her upcoming movie ‘Kali’ on Dashain, Fulpati day, Ashoj 25 (October 11, 2013). The day coincides with the release date of her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s production ‘Loafer’.
After Rekha and Chhabi divorced, Chhabi registered Chhabi Raj Films and produced the first movie ‘Hamesha’ in association with Rekha’s Rekha Films. But, in his second movie – ‘Loafer’, Chhabi introduced a new actress, Rajani KC in the leading role. Rekha also started ‘Kali’ on her own to compete with Chhabi.
On the occasion of the 31st convention of American Nepali Association (ANA) held on July 4 to July 6, Nepali movies were shown on each day. In addition to Nepali films, popular comedy actors Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya (MaHa) also conducted a comedy program. MaHa’s program was one of the the main attractions of the event.
The movies featured in the convention include ‘Highway’, ‘Badhshala’, and ‘Visa Girl‘ on the first day. On the second day ‘Chadke’ ‘Mutu’ and ‘Uma’ were screened. The cost of each show was set at $10.
The movie ‘ATM’ (Any Time Masti), banned after it’s second show in theater has been cleared for screening after a court ruling.
The censor board had asked the film makers to remove some scenes before it was suitable for screening in theater. The board banned the movie when it found that the film makers didn’t comply with the decision of the board and didn’t remove some of the objected scenes while screening the movie in theater.
In an interview with a TV program actress Rekha Thapa told that she is not interested in getting married again. But, she also added that she wanted to be a mother. After the divorce with her ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha Rekha is living with her mother. She is currently shooting her upcoming movie ‘Kali’.
Rekha wanted to make a life partner out of wedlock and live with him. To give examples of women living without a male partner, she gave the examples of Nepali actresses like Mithila Sharma and Koma Oli.
We believed Rekha Thapa‘s ex-husband Chhabi Raj Ojha was her godfather in the Nepali movie industry. But, there is no point in thinking otherwise if Rekha herself tells that Naresh Poudel is the godfather instead.
We went through her love story with Chhabi Raj Ojha in which Chhabi was the one who saw Rekha’s photo while Naresh was accompanying him to meet actress Sajja Mainali.
A movie written and being produced by Deepak Raj Giri, ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ will feature him as the lead actor but, his opposite won’t be Deepa Shree Niraula. With the popularity of the husband-wife character in ‘Tito Satya’ one can’t think of one without the other. Many believe that they are husband and wife in real life. In reality Deepa is still unmarried and Deepak is happily married with grownup kids.
It seems, Deepak wants to give a break to the image and work with other actresses. The story Deepak wrote for the movie doesn’t have a character that fits Deepa. So, she won’t be seen in the movie at all. Although Deepa isn’t happy about it, Deepak has patched it up by offering the assistant director role to Deepa.

Nepali comedy actor Kiran KC has announced to award a film journalist and an artists on his birthday every year. Starting next year, he is planning to award Rs. 10,000 each to the best journalist and the best artist of the year.
To ensure timely distribution of award, Kiran KC has setup an award fund. Kiran KC is planning a special program on his birthday on Ashad 15 to distribute the awards to the deserving candidates. Kiran KC being a comedy artists, he is planning to start the award with comedy artists.

After the successful treatment of cancer, 42-years-old Bollywood actress of Nepali origin, Manisha Koirala, has returned back to India. According to reports, she landed in Mumbai on June 26, 2013.
Last week, she met Nepali community members of New York to share her cancer treatment experiences. In the first public appearance after the start of her cancer treatment, she thanked all her family and friends. She also announced her plan to return back to Mumbai in a week.
