Like previous years, the celebrities of Nepali film industry celebrated Holi festival in jolly mood. The festival of color was celebrated at various locations. Like every year, actress Karishma Manandhar had invited everybody to celebrate Holi at her residence. Last year, Karishma was busy in the shooting of ‘Fagu’ and couldn’t organize the festival at home.

The Bollywood film industry is considered one of the largest film industry in the world. The movie industry has gone worldwide because of the popularity of the movies. The opportunity to be a part of the film industry is very difficult. In such an environment, few Nepali artists have established themselves as credible artists. UPDATE: Karishma Manandhar has made the clarification that she hadn’t chosen the actresses but Kantipur had asked her to share her thoughts on the five actresses.

The actress, Karishma Manandhar, has chosen the top five actresses in Nepali film industry. In a report published in Kantipur by Gokarna Gautam, the top five actresses according to Karishma are:

It is to be noted that Shilpa Pokahrel is featured the lead actress in Karishma’s last week release ‘Fagu’. Although, all the movies of Shilpa released so far are hit (both ‘Lazza’ and ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ were hit and ‘Fagu’ is doing well in theater) Karishma has placed her in the fifth place.

Friday Release – Fagu, Ko Afno and Soldier

On Friday, February 19, 2016, three new Nepali movies are releasing in theater. Karishma Manandhar‘s production movie ‘Fagu’, Anil Thapa’s movie ‘Ko Afno’ and BS Balami’s movie ‘Soldier’ are competing to attract viewers in theater.

Details of each of the movie are given below:

Fagu

The comeback movie of the producer Karishma Manandhar after the failure of ‘Babu Shaheb’ is expected to win the hearts of the viewers. The female oriented movie is made on the story of a woman in Terai. Actress Shilpa Pokharel is in the leading role in the movie with other artists Rajesh Hamal, Gauri Malla, Pramod Agrahari, Subash Parajuli and Tika Pahari. The movie is directed by Samjhana Upreti Rauniyar. The movie features the music of Basanta Sapkota, action of Himal KC, editing of Bipin Malla, choreography of Kamal Rai and cinematography of Ram Sharan upreiti. The movie is mostly shot in Birgunj and the surrounding area.

The former Prime Minister, Baburam Bhattarai, has announced a 35-member interim central council of Naya Shakti Nepal in an event organized in Buddha Nagar, Kathmandu. In the interim central council of Naya Shakti Nepal, three Nepali film industry personalities are also included. Actress Karishma Manandhar, actor and producer Ashok Sharma and actor Saroj Khanal are listed as the council members of the new political party, yet to be formally announced.

The most noted personalities in the council are former finance secretary Rameshwor Khanal, Mumaram Khanal (a political analyst), Keshavman Shakya (former lawmaker), Ganesh Rai (former AIG), and the three film artists.

Also present in the event was the noted businessman Binod Chaudahary, who told that he supports politics of constructive developments and wished best for Naya Shakti.

Ko Afno to release with Karishma Manandhar film Fagu on Feb 19

In a program held at CTC Mall on January 20, 2016, the trailer of upcoming movie, ‘Ko Afno’ was released and the the release date was announced. The movie produced and directed by Anil Thapa is releasing on the the dateÂ Â Karishma Manandhar‘s production comeback movie ‘Fagu’ is being released.

In ‘Ko Afno’ the lead actress Richa Sharma is featured in unconventional non-glamorous appearance. In the launch program, Richa told that the movie is a combination of artistic and commercial contents.

Phagu, music released, movie to release on Falgun 7

The first look of the comeback movie of actress Karishma Manandhar as a producer after about one and a half decade, ‘Phagu’ was released in a program held in Kathmandu on December 18. The movie featuring actress Shilpa Pokharel in leading role don’t have Karishma herself in it. The second venture movie of the director Samjhana Upreti Rauniar, ‘Phagu’ features Rajesh Hamal, Shilpa Pokharel, Subash Parajuli, Gauri Malla and others in main roles. Subash is debuting in Nepali film industry in this movie.

The movie made on the story of a Terai-resident girl is a social drama and love story movie with Shilpa featured as the main and the central character. The movie is scheduled to release on Falgun 7 (Refer movie release calendar of 2072). The date is the same as the release of actor Bhuwan KC‘s movie ‘Dreams’. The movie marks the debut of Bhuwan as the film director. It is a coincidence that both the actors – Bhuwan and Karishma won’t be seen in the movie as actors.

The first female producer of Nepali movie is Manju Rana, the producer of the Nepali movie ‘Juni’. After Manju the professional female producer of Nepali movie is Sumitra Poudel. Producer Malati Rai produced the super-hit Nepali movie ‘Saino’. These producers were not actresses. In later days, actresses had entered film production business with mixed result.

At this time, at least 5 movies produced by actresses are recently released or waiting to release in near future.Â Actress Poojana Pradhan‘s debut production movie ‘Chocolete’ is releasing on December 4, 2015. Similarly, actress Karishma Manandhar‘s production ‘Falgu’ is releasing on February 17, 2016 and actress Rekha Thapa‘s production movie ‘Rampyari’ is scheduled to release on April 8, 2016. Another actress, Suvekshya Thapa‘s home co-production movie ‘Bindaas 3’ is also ready for release. Actress Ashika Tamang‘s debut movie both as an actress and as a producer was released on October 23.

Rekha Thapa

Rekha’s ex-husband had registered Rekha Films after her and produced some successful movies under the banner. When Rekha and Chhabi divorced Rekha took the production with her. Chhabi had registered Chhabiraj Films banner to produce his later films. Rekha Films and Chhabiraj Films jointly produced ‘Hamesha’ before parting their ways in their next movies. The success of Rekha’s own production ‘Kali’ and ‘Himmatwali’ were after parting from Chhabi has proved Rekha a successful film producer.

Karishma Manandhar organized a Dashain party in spite of gas shortage

Actress Karishma Manandhar has organized a Dashain party in her residence in spite of gas shortage. Karishma shared a photo of her cooking food in traditional way, using firewood. Because of the economic blockage by India, Nepal has been facing acute shortage of cooking gas and vehicle fuel. Transportation and celebration has been quite tough because of the lack of vehicle fuel and cooking gas.

There is a film studio in Karishma’s residence in Godawari, Lalitpur. In the photo Karishma shared Karishma is seen cooking food in one of the studios by constructing the traditional fire wood stove. In the photo posted above, Karishma has also added a smiley to indicate the irony of the situation.

The geekiest tattoo on Nepali artists might be that of actress Arunima Lama. Arunima Lama was featured as a nude model in the movie ‘Kina Kina’. We Will Rise charity event held in Hong Kong

A charity program titled ‘We will rise’ was held in Hong Kong recently. The program to help raise fund for earthquake relief was a successful and entertaining program in Hong Kong.

For the first time after returning back from the USA, actor Saroj Khanal went on a stage show in a foreign soil. He had performed with actress Karishma Manandhar in a musical titled ‘Priyasika Yaadharu’. Saroj and Sarita Giri performed in a play titled ‘Hamro Aawaz’. Actress Sushma Karki had danced in ‘himallai Dhakyo Kanchhaâ€¦’

The greatest festival of women, Teej, is mostly a musical festival. The women wear attractive jewelries and clothes in red and dance to the songs composed specifically for the festival. Because of the commercial value of the songs, a lot of new songs are produced this year. It is surprising that the movie actresses have modeled in a lot of those movies. I have compiled a list of songs featuring various actresses.

Among the actresses featured in Teej songs, actress Neeta Dhungana is featured in a lot of them. Other actresses include Sushma Karki, Karishma Manandhar, Reema Bishowkarma, Melina Manandhar, Nandita KC, Benisha Hamal and others. Its not only the actresses, actor Rajesh Hamal is also featured in one of the latest Teej songs.

Nepali movie Manma Maya is a presentation of Gita Silwal for Ganesh Gentle Films. Guest artists in the movie are Gopal Bhutani, Rajendra Khadgi, Rabi Giri, Jainanda Chand, Mithila Sharma, Mudhusudhan Silwal, Nirmal Sharma, Robert John etc.. The child artists are Divyata Upreti and Ashutosh Bhedwal. Other child artists include Dristanta Upreti, Neha Ghimire, Jack Khadgi, Sharad Marahatta and Kriti Sitaula. A dog named Jolly is also featured in the movie.
